21  Economy / Economics / Re: If USD are backed by guns ... on: August 24, 2013, 09:58:23 AM
The Dollar might be backed by faith, force and coercion, but Bitcoin is backed by mathematics and the free people of planet Earth. Pick one.

Great call!!!  Well put  Wink
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins may have been used to help finance the flight and activity of fugitives on: August 24, 2013, 09:55:00 AM
Why are people so quick to point this out??  Fiat paper money has been used by fugitives and bad asses since the dawn on its inception onto the global scene.

Such a lame argument. Every time.

Great post from a passionate Bitcoiner!!

So true, people will change the system, crypto is the pretense by which we can instigate change but it invariably has to come from individuals.  I have faith the the BTC community is strong, full of people like this poster.

We live in interesting times, change is in the wind, we have seen numerous geo-political events shape history over the past 24 months, some good, some bad, most with the underlying desires for change, to break free from the status quo, whether that be monetary based systems that strangle the worlds inhabitants or the economic models by which we have been customed to live within.  The political system is next, its so far removed from ordinary day citizens that it is serving the interests of a few not the majority any more.

A wise man once said, be the change you wish to seek in the world...  Wink

Thanks for posting this thread.

25  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best UK bank account for SEPA EUR transfers? on: August 12, 2013, 01:35:27 PM
Avoid Barclays like the plague, they're closing down more BTC related banks accounts than any other on the highstreet. You could try looking into credit-unions though you may struggle to find one that has any android based transaction apps.

Agreed.  Word is filtering down from the Barclays hierarchy, clamp down on btc activity within the realms of Barclays accounts.  I have heard one too many stories of this occurring.  It seems nearly every week someone I know is falling victim to these bwankers.

I am looking for many of the same points you have listed in a UK bank, am yet to find one that does even half of those things without question.

I will be watching this thread with a close eye.  Keen to know more experiences of people using Citibank... anyone?

27  Economy / Economics / Re: What about future of BTC on: August 07, 2013, 04:45:53 PM
Couldnt agree more with the last comment, history has proven, that governments cannot be trusted controlling the monetary system.  It will take an age for the 'masses' to wake up and put this realisation into action.

Sadly, people are like robots, the vast majority are happy to bitch and moan, yet dont rock the boat for fear of tipping the boat over.

Maybe it will take a massive blowout of epic proportions that sends btc through the sky.... and that amigos, is something very plausible...  Roll Eyes
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC and mtgox on: August 05, 2013, 02:44:11 PM
LTC will eventually scramble onto Gox, and when it does, yes the price of each LTC will rise.  But as other readers have pointed out, it is the the widespread adoption and acceptance of LTC from businesses will see its value really rise.

But as others have also pointed out, this delay in getting onto Gox only gives us all more time to buy them whilst they are relatively low...
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: Pool: If PayPal adopts Bitcoin, what would the price be? on: August 05, 2013, 02:08:30 PM
I hope that Paypal stays away from bitcoin as long as possible. Paypal is evil. They are the mark of the beast, ie 666. Whosoever engages in business with paypal are doomed to forever burn in hell. If paypal ever accepts bitcoin, we will be in for a shock, as if touched by evil spirit, all the puss will ooze from the skins of everyone on this forum, locusts will swarm over your homes, leprosy will infect you and your family, blindness will strike everyone you meet, death will reign over you and your loved ones, etc...

Classic!!!  Grin Grin Grin

That was poetic genius!  I concur, Paypal suck! And are evil and get eat it!
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin vs BigBrother - fighting or containing on: August 05, 2013, 01:59:13 PM
We are reaching some critical crossroads in how society yearns to be governed.... faith in the political systems worldwide is crumbling from the inside out and from outside looking in.

The likes of PRISM has just confirmed what we already knew.

Uprisings and oustings of corrupt governments who have long been in collusion with financial organisations, have become 'commonplace' over the past few years.  This is the result of citizens of the world demanding more (or less) of those whom are gifted the responsibility of 'leading' the countries in question.

These positions of privilege and duty are and have been abused, and the very systems that they control and implement too, are being abused.  As inflation and the cost of living rises worldwide, with earning capacities staying stationary, with more pressure on our disappearing resources around us, with more complications involved with ones freedom and liberty, including the very real fear of loosing ones financial security, all paths are leading towards a confrontation.  One where people question roles in society, systems that control us, burden us, limit us and confine us.

Bitcoin is one of just a few 'alternatives' that citizens of the world may just choose when these pressures become too much of a burden...

31  Economy / Economics / Re: August is coming! Vote the price trend of BTC. on: August 04, 2013, 09:49:06 AM
We're creeping back!!  Back to at least the 120-130 mark for the timebeing....  Roll Eyes
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal's Employee Policy on Bitcoin on: August 04, 2013, 09:42:54 AM
Paypal have a murky history of saddling up besides 'authorities', so this statement comes as nothing short of standard behaviour expected from this outfit
I favor boycotting  Shocked

36  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Currency Fair Block Bitcoin Transactions on: July 30, 2013, 09:22:59 PM
Yeah we're getting dealt some nasty curveballs here in the UK  Lips sealed

Transferwise now CurrencyFair, what next....  Undecided
37  Economy / Service Discussion / Currency Fair Block Bitcoin Transactions on: July 30, 2013, 02:16:31 PM
So it has just been announced that Currency Fair have fallen victim to 'discussions with their banking providers' and have blocked any transactions with funding Bitcoin exchanges.

Here is their statement:

"Unfortunately we are no longer able to transfer funds to Bitcoin exchanges. This decision has been taken pending the outcome of ongoing discussions with our banking providers and the relevant regulatory bodies, we do hope it is a temporary one. While we still believe in the strong growth and acceptance of bitcoins, we are waiting for clear guidance on the requirements for meeting our regulatory obligations specifically in relation to AML/CTF legislation."

Another one bites the dust....  Sad
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone say arbitrage? on: July 29, 2013, 11:58:39 AM
This lag has been evident between Gox and Bitstamp of late as well, it comes and goes, as nobody knows, the true monetary flows between all these foes.   Wink
39  Other / Politics & Society / Re: PRISM - Who else is disgusted by this? on: July 28, 2013, 01:46:37 PM
The saddest thing about the leak of PRISM is that the media have turned it around and so now all they talk about is what is the airport hotel like that Edward Snowden is hiding out in and which anti american countries are going to offer him asylum.

Have we lost our minds?  What happened to the shocking truth that was revealed, PRISM was designed to silently ass rape us...

Disgusting.  DOnt lose site of the real issue here...
40  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mainstream Media is a Hoax on: July 28, 2013, 01:42:52 PM
Mainstream media has always been a tool for people in power to manipulate the masses.  Control the minds, control their actions.

Influence the story, through airbrushing thru the controlled media and boom, you have all of a sudden brain washed the majority of people.

History is littered with examples of state collusion and media mongols.  It is a rampant cancer.

Long live the freedom of the internet so that the masses can tune into what is really going on in the 'news' and draw their own conclusions rather than being spoon fed man handled propaganda spat out from the media machine.
