Posting here so it's easier for me to see replies and keep up with Bminer development.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question to mod of altcoin mining. on: February 18, 2018, 06:51:07 AM
This is interesting, feel free to check my post history, and ask me alt coin questions, you are an extremely well respected member of the alt coin mining community, and you have helped many of us, (myself included) to understand this new paradigm, good luck on this new endeavor!
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining still worth it for the average person? on: February 17, 2018, 06:58:20 AM
I would even consider mining even when it's not that profitable at the moment. If you believe longterm in cryptocurrencies and their growth it's sure worth it. Depends really how someone thinks in general about the future. If a coin is x5 in 2-3 years it will be worth the hassle, so buy the cards you can get your hand on :-)
I agree with this as well, it all depends on what your goal is, and whether you need your mining to pay your Electric bills, if you have a day job, and can afford to mine even when at a current loss, simply because you enjoy it, and it is a super fun Hobby, you very well may make out like a bank robber, several years from now, imagine going back in time to when Bitcoin miners turned their rigs off, because of electrical costs (and then mining thousands of Bit coin at a technical loss) only to have it go from $1 to $20,000, those that turned their rigs off, would be kicking themselves to this day...
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Add second PSU to my rig on: February 13, 2018, 05:57:07 AM
Hello. I'm looking to add a second power supply to my rig. I currently have 1 psu powering everything (mobo, ssd, cpu, 3 gpus, 3 risers). I just got a 4th gpu and looking to connect it to second psu (first psu doesn't have enough connectors). I will also need Add2psu to turn on/off both psu at the same time

So do you think it's ok to just connect a gpu and a riser only on second power supply?

You should pick up one of these, (see link Below) to allow your motherboard to power on both power supplies at the same time,
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O0M6Q0C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

well that one seems to be out of stock as a shipped by Amazon product, but you get the point, scroll down and you will find 10 similar items for 15$ or less, I linked that, simply because that is what I own, and I know they work well, but the others available should work just as well, they simply link two power supplies to your Motherboard, and allow them to both turn on simultaneously

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Coin to mine GTX970? on: February 05, 2018, 01:39:36 AM
Hello, As you can see I am quite new here. Wanted some advice on what to mine for my GTX970. If anyone here has done some research and wouldn't mind sharing the results. I have been switching between coins (VTC, LUX, UBQ) but would like to settle down on one so I can gain as much profit as I can. Below are my specs.

- GTX970 4GB
- i7 4th GEN
- $ 0.08/kWh

Mixed into one of my rigs, I have an older EVGA GTX 970 as well, here are the results of it mining Equihash under DSTM, OS is Simple Mining,

GPU1 42C Sol/s: 262.8 Sol/W: 2.22 Avg: 271.3 I/s: 145.1 Sh: 0.40 1.00 239

So yeah, it Averages around 271.3 Sol/s mining Equihash currently,

Completely normal,

It is currently -8 Celsius outdoors where I live, and I have not had my heat turned on this winter, the 20+ 1070 ti SC Hybrids scattered over three rigs, completely heat a 1000 square foot 2 story , 2 bedroom home to 23+ Celsius, which is a more than comfortable temperature to wear a t shirt indoors in the winter, now when summer comes I will need to have many windows open, but in the winter the only downside is that the Air gets extremely dry, and static electric becomes more of a concern so thus needs to be mitigated,
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Remote access and screen resolution on: January 23, 2018, 09:04:24 PM
Pick up one of these. They make the PC think it has a monitor and it keeps the 1080p resolution.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XT1Z9TF

This is the correct answer, I have one plugged into the on board HDMI port of three separate mining rig motherboards, and now they are all full resolution when I remote in, very similar to the link and I picked mine up at Amazon as well.

Hybrid Cards are far superior,

The Cards themselves stay remarkably cooler then their air-cooled brethren,
These following 10 cards are all EVGA 1070ti SC Hybrids,
Overclocked to
Core +180
Memory +1300
Power Limit(watt) 113 watts per card,
Running Under SMOS

and here are the results for those ten cards, look at those temps, and these run 24 hours a day,

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power usage meter for mining rig. (e.g. Kill-A-watt) on: January 21, 2018, 02:04:05 AM
For 110 volt outlets, these are amazing, just make sure not to run them close to the 15amp (1800 watt) limit or they trip and internal breaker and stop working permanently...
but they allow everything to be monitored and administered remotely, including power cycling rigs etc...

can anyone with asus b250 mining expert share their bios settings with smos?

i have tried many combinations of settings with 9 cards and smos registers each card but mines less tan 4 hashes each card, i have manyhours trying and cant find good answers online

What GPU's are you using, this info would help?
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: January 16, 2018, 06:58:43 AM
I really wish people that did not own this motherboard, and are not using it with at least 12 GPU, would stop posting their hypothetical concepts as if they are truth, even if you read what you are regurgitating directly from the Asus B250- Mining Expert PDF, You may not be correct and are spreading misinformation,

A certain configuration within the Asus PDF manual may work, but the truth is that many others work as well, so unless you are actually experimenting with this board, rehashing things you read on line, is not helping this thread...

But actually spreading misinformation that will waste new users time to trouble shoot, and figure out why,

and Yes I am using the Asus B250 with 12 EVGA GTX 1070 TI SC Hybrids, and it has been working splendid, once I figured out my proper Overclock settings within "Simple Miner"

I am currently running two power supplies, Both EVGA, first being a 1600T2, second being a 1000T2,

I really hope this did not come off as too negative, I only would like to see more truly constructive info being offered up to the Alt-Coin mining community,

Does SMOS offer idle worker notifications via Email?
I saw it was in the pipeline from 2016 but I can't seem to find where to turn it on, or is it not implemented?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / SMOS / Suprnova Idle worker Notification via email not working? on: January 12, 2018, 10:01:22 AM
Within Suprnova the option is there under the "Notifications" tab, and I check boxed "Payout" and "Idle Worker", I always receive a near immediate email about a Payout from the Suprnova Mining pool, but have never / ever received an email about a worker going Idle,

Is this a known issue with Suprnova? In addition I can not find an option under SMOS to have it send me an email about an Idle worker, am I missing something?

the most valued feature I could imagine, would be a near immediate notification if a worker went Idle or had some other issue...

I do have a smart plug that I can monitor Wattage usage / and power on and off, via WiFi regardless of where I am at in the world, and that does give me a fairly good idea if a Rig has dropped from peak mining (wattage falls off of my known full rig draw), but it is not an auto prompt to me, via a ding on my phone, the way I would desire an immediate email or text message to do...

Please share any info about how YOU have resolved this issue, and achieved immediate notifications about an Idle mining rig, via an email prompt, within Suprnova, or Simple Mining Operating System, or a Third party solution...

Thanks,

I really would like to dial in these mining rigs, so that they run with as close to 100% up time as possible, given the occasional reboot. whether that be manually or via wifi while I am at work and not near the rigs,
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Linux low hashrate vs Windows 10 on: January 12, 2018, 01:44:16 AM
Ok,

Linux 100, 1100, 200 for power limit watt.

Using windows I was getting 100, 830, 95% power limit (less OC with my hashrate power).

That's sucks big time!!!

Please try

Core = 200                     <"I believe this is equal to +100 in Afterburner / Windows"
Memory = 1400               <"this is equal to +700 in Afterburner / Windows"
power limit = 161 watt     <"this is equal to TDP to 90% in Afterburner / Windows" in SMOS / Linux you set the actual Watt, not a percentage,

Please try these settings and report back,

PS. Linux uses effective clock, so if you could really pull off 830 under windows stable, then that setting would be 1660 under Linux I do Believe,
"+1660" being effective Memory clock, or same as +830 in Afterburner / Windows.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Linux low hashrate vs Windows 10 on: January 11, 2018, 11:58:17 PM
Hey folks,

I just switched to Simpleming OS... I loved the concept and the easy way to monitor and control multiple rigs, BUT yes BUT I noticed a HUGE loss of hashrate from my rig. 6x GTX 1070 hashing eth at 192mh/s total -32mh/s ea dual mining pascal on windows 10 now the same settings on linux I only get 180mh/s total - ea 29.6 mhs. Why??? Sad Please anyone can help me out?

Thanks

You really need to let us know what your current Overclock settings are on the Simple Mining Rig List tab, I assume you are overclocking the core and memory, while lowering the wattage draw from the stock draw, but you will find optimum advice headed your way more quickly if you list your current overclock settings in Simple mining
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 MINING EXPERT bios 403 (2017/12/15) released? on: January 10, 2018, 02:15:41 AM
I have been using this mobo for the last couple of months.

I had no problems with 6 GTX 1070 GPUs. I bought another 3 of the same, and I could only make it work with 8.

I updated BIOS to 0403 and tried to install the 9th, but the hashrate of *all* GPUs dropped to half. Went back to 8 and it works smoothly.

I updated BIOS to 1001 today but the 9th card isn't recognized at all in the BIOS screen. Anybody has tried with more than 8 cards and succeeded?

I am running BIOS 1001 and 12 GTX 1070ti SC Hybrids on the Asus Mining Expert no problem, using two 110 volt power supplies, one 1600 and one 1000 watt both titanium EVGA, GPU's are staggered throughout the three channel banks, I did not limit them to the first two although I am only using two power supplies, in addition I am not plugging any Molex into the 3 AUX channel bank plugins,

running SMOS boot from USB, with clocks set to 200 core, 1400 memory, 130 watt, drawing a total of 1750 watt at the wall, including all cards and Mobo, trying to stay below 1800 watt due to the smart plug stating it will only pass 15 amp, and I believe going over that ruined one of them for me, and I really like the utility of the smart plug when I am away from home,

I bought 11 ASUS B250 Mining Expert MBs, 10 are being used in 8 GPU Nvidia rigs. Setup was the simplest/fastest I've had with a MB, just changed two settings and update bios if not already 403. They all run like tanks and are ultra stable for weeks at a time. Cost was as low as $134.99 shipped from Amazon for batches of 5. I wouldn't sell one for $300, is the best mining MB currently available.

Why buy b250 if u only going to use 8 gpu?

This Exactly!
ASUS has always been a very reputable company, and given that I purchased every one of my B250 Mining Expert boards for less that US $149 , and every one of them can presently run up to 13 standard GPU, with a future update to expand beyond that, I am quite happy,

Even if I made the Purchase under the assumption, that it would never be more than a 12 GPU MB, based purely on its stability and quality at that price point, It would be my only mother board purchase for the foreseeable future,
definitely my MB of choice as of 1/3/2018
