21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had $150 of Bitcoins what method would you use to increase it? on: August 03, 2015, 03:38:26 PM
Don't gamble, chances are against you.  You want something where the ods are in your favor.

If you want to trade alt coins for profit, I strongly suggest paper trading for a week or two.  But that isnt really the same thing as actually trading, but it should give you a general idea.  Is it possible to make money alt coin trading?  Yeah, but many people get burned so I can't recommend it as a sure way to make money.  Read the forums in the alt coin section, and whatever you do stay away from ico's until you know what you are doing.

You can also look in to hashnest if you want, it is the best paying legit cloud miner that I know of.  Most of the other cloud miners are supposed to be ponzis, so be careful.

Other than that, yeah hold it and buy more as you can afford to would be my suggestion.  I think btc is on the rise, so investing fiat into it should be a good way to increase your wealth, even if you are not actually increasing your amount of btc.
22  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Upcoming HYIP - any idea? on: August 03, 2015, 07:04:50 AM
I like the game chain profit, because you can see what is going on.  So if you want to make a hyip, I suggest you do a game like that in stead of a straight up investment.  That way it is not a scam, and people know exactly what they are getting in to.  I think that this type of game has not been exploited to its fullest potential, and if you come up with a good idea for a game then you might get some traffic.  If you set it up correctly it doesn't have to collapse either.
23  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: fantasybtc ''Scam'' on: August 03, 2015, 07:01:35 AM
Thanks for the heads up.  I wonder if the owner of this site can comment here?  It is possible that it is just a misunderstanding.  I hope you get your btc back.
24  Economy / Gambling / Re: Tipex.info on: August 03, 2015, 06:59:14 AM
Thanks for the heads up, the site looks good.  I hope your tip pays off for people here, but I know nothing about those teams so I will sit it out.

For your paid tips, the price seems reasonable, but I don't see anywhere what you get for that price.  Is it a day's tips, a weeks worth, or tips on a particular sport?  Thanks.
25  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can bitcoin casino go bankrupt? on: August 03, 2015, 03:56:04 AM
IMO it all comes down to the bankroll vs the size of wagers.  If the bankroll is large enough to cover any short term anomalies, and assuming that the casino's games are not being exploited, then it should be fine.  Casinos are in it for the long term game, over time they are guaranteed to win.  This is why they advertise big wins, in stead of hiding them.  If someone wins big it is a short term loss for the casino, but if it brings more action then it is a long term gain
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox CEO admits tweaking account on: August 03, 2015, 03:52:43 AM
It seems like it is not that often we see justice in this crypto world.  I hope that the victims of the gox feel like they are getting a little payback, and I also hope that the sentence is not light.  Stealing money is stealing time, and I hate it when crooks get away with it.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft's Bing Launches Bitcoin Rewards Sweepstakes on: August 03, 2015, 03:50:09 AM
Uggh. I hate bing. I won't use it even if they offer me free bitcoin. Oh wait they are offering me free bitcoin... Yup still not using it.

Yeah.  Pretty much.

BUT this is freaking awesome.  To see another big company not only get behind bitcoins but to promote it!  I think 280 might be looking like a good entry price Smiley
28  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Top Cloud Miners Compared by Profitability on: August 03, 2015, 03:35:41 AM
I've been researching daily reinvestment to produce compound daily interest vs. accumulating simple interest and ignoring your principal.

I've accounted for GH/s value decline over time and mining difficulty increases and I found something I wasn't expecting.

It looks like if you start out with an average of 0.3% earned per day you actually make (lose) (-59.75%) of your original investment.  If you simply chose to accumulate instead of reinvest your earnings (over a 366 day example) you actually make 114.301619216228% of your original investment (even without including your principal!!).

Here's a brief overview of my conclusions:

Starting with a daily payout percentage of 0.3=Daily compounding earns (-59.75%) of what you would earn by simply accumulating your mining payouts.

0.3=(-59.75%)
0.4=1.43%
0.5=37.34%
0.6=69%

To earn an equal or greater amount by compounding than you would with accumulation, you need to start with a minimum of 0.7% daily payout percentage.

0.7=103.45%
0.8=144.46%
0.9=196.04%
1=262.72%
1.1=350.37%
1.2=466.78%

Questions welcome!  This is a puzzle I've been trying to figure out since I first became interested in bitcoin!  Wink

Hi, sorry I don't quite understand, but are you saying that re-investing is worse than taking the payout and hodling it?
29  Economy / Gambling / Re: UFC 190 discussion on: August 02, 2015, 01:38:15 AM
Thanks direct bet!

Feels like everyone is on Rousey under and by submission. By luck this will probably be the match that goes over and knockout.

I know right?  But really, Rousey's submissions are unstoppable.  It is the difference between a world class athlete and really good athletes.  They all think they are tough until theu get in to the cage with her, then they are like wtf just happened.

Of course it is only like that until a spoiler comes along.  It will happen sooner or later, but I don't think it will happen this time.
30  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitrageous on: August 02, 2015, 01:34:46 AM
Ok you have my attention Smiley  I will wait here for an update lol.  I have seen a lot of games, but none that I would describe as outrageous.  I am getting some ideas, but I will keep them to myself and see what you have to offer.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anime predicts the future of Bitcoin? on: August 02, 2015, 01:32:33 AM
Nice!  I have seen a great many shows/movies/books with digital currency of one form or another, but I don't recall ever seeing one that appeared so clearly to be bitcoins.  Really nice find!
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long would we have to wait to see a bitcoin address collision? a LONG time. on: August 02, 2015, 01:29:09 AM
Never happen.  The world governments are spending their resources blowing each other up, not on space exploration.  Maybe if another alien species, like the body snatchers or something were to take over and keep the block chain going, then we might have a chance for a collision.

36  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoinluckyticket.co => Win a NOKIA LUMIA 930 on: July 31, 2015, 10:05:14 PM
It is an interesting idea, but I am not too excited about the prize.  If this raffle goes well, maybe I will jump in later when there is a prize that I like.  But I do like the idea of a raffle for stuff and not just money.
37  Economy / Gambling / Re: What promotions or contests would you guys like to see on pachinko? on: July 31, 2015, 10:01:07 PM
You could have a special happy hour event once a week, where players come and get a better (lower) house edge.  You could also have a contest where you can bet on a player's success.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The missing key to crypto adoption? on: July 31, 2015, 09:40:20 PM
Quote
The missing key to crypto adoption?
- As a transaction currency:
Not easy enough to be used. At least when I did my research around one year ago the payment process on most terminals took longer and was more complicated and expensive than the use of a credit cards or cash.

- The use case for storage and transfer of value:
1. Is hindered by unpredictable volatility (which is not a big issue since it will go away once growth has become less explosive and the technology more mature)

2. Is hindered because for save use, all adopters need to have at least intermediate to advanced knowledge of "technology in general". What I mean by this is not that they require big knowledge of computer science, but that they need to be very responsible and knowledgeable in their use of the computer: backing up wallets, use of various secure storage media, restoring wallets, not loosing keys, choosing secure passwords, not forgetting passwords, knowing what to do when chain synchronization doesn't work, how to fix their internet connection etc.
I don't see that a large portion of the population fit for this.

Mass crypto adoption will only happen once crypto is save, easy and attractive enough to be used as first choice for payment by a 55 year old women with IQ 90 from a developing country, with rudimentary knowledge of English who uses her computer/smartphone sporadic for a few hours per week.

Yep.  It is a total pita to buy them, and not so easy to set up wallets and use them.  Plus the exchanges charge embarassingly high rates for turning your dollars into btc.  Sometimes this is in the form of a fee to wire money, or just a huge trade fee like at coinbase.

Plus Many people are still hung on the bad press of the past.  I know lots of people that when I tell them I have some btc, they respond by saying "ins;t that a ponzi?"  I usually respond by saying "do you know what a ponzi is?"

When we get over these hurdles then more people might start using it.
39  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is the King of Crypto. Even Coindesk is a waste of time! (Pics) on: July 31, 2015, 09:34:50 PM
This is a great site for discussion, but there is so much misinformation and fud going around that it is not the only source of bitcoin information that I use.  But it is a forum, not a news site, so I think we all understand what that means.
40  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Future of BTC Poker on: July 31, 2015, 12:16:48 AM
I think that the crypto community just isn't that big yet.  But eventually it will grow, and it may become more popular for gambling online.  I certainly think that it has many advantages to fiat.

So tell your friends about cyrpto.  Wear a bumper sticker, etc Smiley.
