Like with all securities, ASICMINER will go down until we see capitulation at which point it will skyrocket.

I'd rather invest in a company with a record instead of a company that just has a promise.

This point will become more obvious to many once some of the "newcommers" just crash spectacularly. Adding their planned percentage of the hashrate, you reach 200%.  Cheesy There will necessarily be some of them left on the road.

Truly fascinating. You appreciate the great risks facing all mining companies and you fail to apply that thinking to AM.

Has it occurred to you AM might be one of the ones left by the road?

Fearmongering. FC already stated massive production is scheduled for September and November.

The update from Friedcat is great. It shows we will be relevant in the future, nothing could be better for the stock.

in the past I've seen the APR sit as high at 30%, so maybe the asset could drop even more if dividends stay at the current percent.

Three months ago, the APR was over 100%.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the price of BTC in general.

People cashing out maybe?

Gox $123
Bitstamp $108.62
Campbx $108.87
Btc-E $106.25

Gox is so high because nobody wants to sell their BTC for USD, because they can't withdraw any USD. Not a great barometer.

What happened to Gox's bank transfer?

They suspended USD withdrawals a long time ago.

I hope they add LTC soon so we can arb to other exchanges.

They never resumed?

I've been prognosticating this for ages, at about this timeframe. Few listened. Here it is.

The huge drop was because USD-BTC is illiquid. The adjustment will be a continuing trend as sentiment shifts, not a vertical line.

right, we've never seen a recovery from levels like this before...  Roll Eyes

sell Vycid your cheap shares, he'll be glad to take them off your hands.

Indeed I will, I need them to exercise my put options.

At this point I think I'm the only one buying AM.
Will you reveal how many put options you own?

No. Sorry, personal finances are off-limits.

I will say this: I am not a whale, I will not be making a major impact. This was fun money, most of my money is in traditional markets where I don't have an unacceptable amount of counterparty risk.

Speaking of which: check out my newest long position, http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ANV

That looks good for a pop

Imagine a company having to expand its operation by 80% each month! That's been the reality for ASICMiner the past month: http://runeks.dk/bitcoin/diff.txt

The difficulty has risen by an average of 25% per adjustment for the past month. That's 80% per month!

Its 94%. You cant simply summarize the percents. Though one diff adjustment now jumped out of the 30 day window it looks less. But im very sure it will be above 100% next diff update. It went 46% then 71% and now 94%. So the difficulty rise is not only rising exponentially, the prozentual rise is even rising exponential.

We need the next-gen chips

Bears make money, bulls make money, pigs get slaughtered.

Cut your damn losses before the whales start cashing out.

Seriously.

Did I just log on to Investorshub? LOL

You don't think USD-BTC will become more accessible in the future?

Time to quit!!

Hardly, the time to sell would have been when ASICMINER had 25% of the network. The time to buy is now. If you're into making money of course... (Buy low, Sell high)

Really? 'Competitors' is in quotes? You're certain not a SINGLE ONE poses a threat? Is AM a cult or a company?
Looks like Vycid is suffering from the classic psychological malady of projection.

An update from FC could provide enough information for shareholders to rally behind AM against the "competitors" that hope to ship this quarter.

Really? 'Competitors' is in quotes? You're certain not a SINGLE ONE poses a threat? Is AM a cult or a company?

Hey Vycid clearly he is talking about vaporware that until it actually ships is not yet in actual competition.

Also he clearly doesn't say certainly not a single one will ship.

That you manage to call AM a cult in the same breath is yet another demonstration of your BIAS and AGENDA.

It's long past time you stopped with your PURE BULLSHIT.

Well, I tried. When the whales manage to liquidate before you do, that's nobody's fault but yours.

AM had its run, and it was spectacular. Plenty of profit to go around for those who don't let their greed take over. Bears make money, bulls make money, pigs get slaughtered.

Alot of clowns out there. Starting to look like FOXNEWS vs. MSNBC on here.
32  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 20, 2013, 08:05:05 PM
that's one theory.  another theory is that a significant portion of AM's hash is being rented out.  They peaked around 50 TH/s or so, and are currently around 30 TH/s.

Why would they be renting capacity for less than expected value?
Why would someone pay more than the expected value of the capacity?

Because it would be more expensive for AM to deploy the capacity themselves than for another party that has access to cheaper power, space and deployment personnel.  Keep in mind that 50TH is FIVE THOUSAND blades.  That's not something easy to deploy, power and maintain.  Also these blades consume 350 kW of power (and dissipate as much heat), which is also quite a big deal to feed and cool.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I don't think friedcat has access to unlimited power and space.

What's the deal with the huge block of unknown mining that appeared around the time ASICMINER's marketshare dropped, any theories as to where it is coming from?
34  Economy / Securities / Re: ActiveMining Overview and Speculation Thread on: August 15, 2013, 03:34:17 PM
We never got photos of the prototype hashing. This is very suspicious.

Well, from what ActiveMining-PR said in his most recent post:

Quote from: ActiveMining-PR
Right now we are sticking to the first four goals: finalize with eASIC to start chip production, finish construction on the prototypes (need those Avalon chips), get the Klondikes in, and form The Advisory board.

He said we would have pix of the prototype when Ken got it back from the engineer's.

Everything about this stock is suspicious. Everything is a little off and if you point it out you get hounded with "perhaps this explains it, perhaps that explains it." We could be in for a rude surprise.

We could.  But hey its the same for all these digital securities.  I think there is fairly good evidence that the avalon chips are for real and in route, albeit who knows when.  The easic deal looks like it is at least being acknowledged by both sides, easic and ken. There's just not a lot to happen right now and the silence is making some people question.  So far in terms of hardware delivery Ken has been on pace with everything he has stated, all delays have been purely from third party vendors.

We never got photos of the prototype hashing. This is very suspicious.

My patience is really running low. They said we would get pictures of the prototype hashing weeks ago. Why have we not gotten a look at what we're funding?

It was 1 week ago. Perhaps the engineers wanted to work on it more before sending it? Perhaps it got held up in the post? Perhaps Ken has been busy and hasnt had a chance to take the photos yet?

Perhaps, but we'll never know because we never get answers. This seems more like a feel-good club than a business.
