22  Economy / Gambling / Re: Double Dare (2x PAY) - AUTOMATED W/ LOSER REFUND - Every hour on the 30min mark! on: June 26, 2011, 07:00:21 PM
What sounds better, a full refund if no payouts have been made, or enabling a feature like end-of-the-round sniping, where the remaining pool is split with the last player instead of the entirety of the remaining players?

Last option will definitly get more players in Smiley.
23  Economy / Gambling / Re: [GAME FINISHED] Double em! - Volume 2 - Max 2 BTC: [2 x BTCs + Jackpots + Bonus] on: June 26, 2011, 06:43:49 PM

25  Other / Archival / Re: Hourglass Double: Win early, win late, you decide! (on hold for discussion) on: June 24, 2011, 11:48:10 PM
Quick round games have a dependance on users BEING there when they are announced, no good to someone who only checks in once in a while.. the best uptake is games announced ahead of time... like 12 noon or 8 pm or whatever... the day before. That way you know and can be ready and so forth. Some of us really like gambling, but this is the first time I've seen your post.

Exactly my thoughts, i really like these rules. If you can promote your game better, it should be succesfull!

Only one player, this should be treated as a fresh round!

Higher is better.... Right??

It doesnt matter how high it is.
The higher the difficulty, the higher the price.
The lower the difficulty, the lower the price.

Fjordbit:

"
If the rate of difficulty change goes above this amount (36.2%) and all other things stay equal, then it will stop making sense to purchase systems and instead it makes more sense to buy bitcoins. This will drive up the price of bitcoins, lowering the btc per MH/s cost for a mining rig. It is possible the difficulty could fall if people come offline, but this is doubtful as it will still make sense to run an existing system.

If the rate of difficulty change goes below this point and all other things stay equal, then it will stop making sense to buy bitcoins and instead it makes more sense to buy a system. With more people coming online, this will push up the difficulty level.

If the exchange rate of usd to btc goes up and all other things stay equal, then the btc cost of MH/s goes down, and it makes more sense to mine than buy. With more people coming online, this will push up the difficulty level.

If the exchange rate of usd to btc goes down and all other things stay equal, then the btc cost of MH/s goes down, and it makes more sense to buy than mine. This will slow the difficulty rate.

If the dollar cost of a mining rig goes down, it makes more sense to mine than buy. This could have the effect of lowering the btc exchange rate or increasing difficulty or both.

Hmm, i can't totally agree with that.
Price drives up difficulty, difficulty does not drive up price.
We have seen this when the prices were 30$+, bitcoin had a lot of media attention since then and we saw a huge increase in total network speed, thus driving up difficulty fast. If the prices stay low for a while, the total network speed will slowly increase, and the difficulty will increase slowly.

Edit: Something else:
Arent we supposed to see a huge increase in network speed and like over 90,000 topics about it since the difficulty change? Did bitcoincharts change something to fix this "bug"?

35  Economy / Gambling / Re: Double Em! 2x / Next In Line Jackpot / Lucky Looser Jackpot / Last Players Luck on: June 23, 2011, 04:24:25 PM

How does this game work? (Explanation for noobs)

1. player A pays e.g. 1 BTC
2. player B pays e.g 1.5 BTC - Player A recieves 2 BTCs
3. player C pays e.g. 3 BTC - Player B recieves 3 BTCs
4. and so on...

I don't understand how this game is financed…  Are you saying that all players except the last one receive 2 × their payment, and then on top of that there's Next in Line, Lucky Loser and Last Player?

Please someone explain this to me.

Cheers,

Player 1 pays 1 BTC, expected payout 2
Pot 1 BTC

Player 2 pays 1.5 BTC expected payout 3
Pot 2.5 BTC, enough to pay player 1 2 BTC
Pot 2.5-2 = 0.5 BTC

Player 3 pays 3 BTC expected payout 6
Pot 3.5 BTC, enough to pay player 2 3 BTC
Pot 3.5 - 3 = 0.5
And so on..
36  Economy / Gambling / Re: Double Em! 2x / Next In Line Jackpot / Lucky Looser Jackpot / Last Players Luck on: June 23, 2011, 04:21:41 PM
Cool, let's see if these rules are not too complicated. Basically it's the same game as all the others, except that this one has 3 kinds of Bonuses/Jackpots to make it a little bit more interesting...

I think these rules really add up to the game Smiley.
