21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Caution - BFL Single Powersupply on: September 24, 2013, 03:55:22 AM
Read this post and thought I'd share my experience as well...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=298826.0

I received my single a week ago after 13 months of bullshit.  Anyways...

I wanted to test the powersupply before hooking up the miner.  I plugged it into the top receptacle of one of my 20A circuit.  Bottom receptacle is powering a 1250W powersupply for a 4x GPU LTC rig.  The instant I plugged in the PSU, the LTC rig restarted itself with 1 GPU no longer spinning.  Tests revealed later that the PCI-e socket which the now fried GPU sat in, is also dead as no other cards work when plugged in.

I dug up an old thinkpad from 10 years ago, hooked up the Single to it and had it hashing so the PSU does work.  Only thing now is that at random times for random durations, it produces an ear piercing high frequency scream like some futuristic sonic torture device.  The scream makes me all nauseous for some weird reason so I've put the whole unit in the shed for now...

Anyways, as noncecents pointed out in the aforementioned thread, if you don't want to take any chances whatsoever, you are better off to buy your own seperate powersupply and not bother with the BFL one.

rama I am dissapointed in you.

Constantly defending with 'I don't work for them' while technically true has an air of deception IMneverHO.

The unsaid implication that your opinion is/was unbiased can no longer be alluded to.

I doubt I'm alone.

Good for you.  Nobody cares.  Go kiss a girl or something.

I don't bloody...

(too cussing long couldn't possibly get through it all)

...I do not screw people over thanks.

*sigh*... really?  really...

Seriously, if you walk into a mental institution and try to reason with every single patient that comes across your way, you will eventually end up in there with them as a patient yourself.

...you let one person walk over you the rest start a charge towards.

Special needs guy #1:  Doo Doo! (points at a jar of peanut butter)

Bitcoinorama:  No no, that's not diarrhea, let me explain...(4 hour long articulated reason/logic/whatever else)

Special needs guy and friends: DOO DOO!!!! (puts their arms up and cheers incoherently)

Bitcoinorama: No wait! It's not...  Hey! No all of you stop! pull your pants back up right now!!  NO!! BILLY!! NOT ON THE FLOOR!!!

@Bitcoinorama

Why do you this?

more importantly, why do you do this to yourself?

wow, nice strategy. I'm on slush with quite constant 60 GH/s with 3 BF-H-cards. I get around 0.5 BTC daily at the moment. I see there is space for improvement, thank you  Smiley

What the shit!?  How you getting .5 a day?  I'm on Slush as well with 60GH/s and only get .23 a day...

Using stratum?

1. Sorry for the OT
2. Yes
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 22, 2013, 07:20:36 AM
it's getting harder but on lucky days, I still reach 0.5.

I keep my hashrate constant at over 60 GH/s by restarting the stratum-proxy every hour. My difficulty is 32.

I didn't know you could mine this way...  .23 vs .5 is crazy.  That's more than having another miner altogether.  How does one restart the stratum every hour and is that all it takes?

Thank you for that amazing observation Capt. Obvious.

Anyone with more than two brain cells not fighting each other for survival figured that out quickly.

~BCX~

Thank you for that amazing sarcasm Capt. Douche.

Anyone with more than two ounces of decency would have just said thanks for the heads up or at most move on quietly.
29  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Long PCIE extenders on: September 18, 2013, 06:54:13 AM
They usually come in 20cm.  You can get 30cm (12inches) as well.

You "can" get longer ones and you "can" connect two 20cm together.  However the safest max length seems to be 30cm.  Longer than that and you have a good chance of getting HW errors.  The PCI-E is designed for direct contact with the motherboard in terms of distance.  The more you increase this distance the more chance of HW errors.
30  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: how do I get cgminer to recognise all four of my cards on: September 18, 2013, 06:45:17 AM
Did you setup the OS with one GPU and add the 3 later? or did you have all 4 GPUs plugged into the motherboard and install the OS?

For me I used to setup the rig with one card, then move it to my mining shelf and hook up the other 3 GPUs.  I used to have your problem all the time.  Sometimes I'd get 4 cards, sometimes 3, sometimes 2.

Now I just hook them all 4 GPUs from the beginning and install the OS.  Never had a missing GPU in device manager this way.

Please dont buy its a scam! But would be nice to be truth  Shocked

There are only few options to access the Fast Integer calculations. If you not sure, Bet on AMD with 3M Novec 7100(R) first, then ASICMiner as ASICMiner now has more units to be sold.

I used to ask the first option if it is truly available. Currently 3M discourages many people to use her solution due to properties as You are asking costly liquid to get boiled. If not care throught, You will be completely f**ked up even you have prepared.

P.S The first solution is for militia, Which starts from F these people mentioned. Only few people are capable of this being.

I have no idea what you just said...

Follow pedrog's words of wisdom and visit Actor Tom's website.  All will be revealed.

EDIT:  If after visiting his website, you can keep a straight face while reading any of Actor Tom's posts on this forum...  most impressive.

That's pretty brazen considering you still don't know the correct spec of the KnC chip.

Yes. You are correct.  In all sense of technicality.

Still, if you're gonna spend 4K on an as of yet non-existent chip, atleast read the specs correctly.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 16, 2013, 07:13:18 AM
If you think your miner won't make more than $800 before those ordering today receive theirs then you are mistaken and are getting all huffy for no reason.  Do a little more research before you start spouting off.

+1.

I mean, seriously... wtf?  How you go throw that kinda money around without even knowing the correct spec...  You really think the $800 discount is worth more than the lead time you have over the november delivery?
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here come the MLM scams on: September 16, 2013, 05:42:43 AM
Saying all MLM is a scam is kind of like saying all blondes love farmed trout but not corn fed chicken.  In other words utter nonsense.

It's only a scam if you have to sign up and pay a fee, and the person you are getting interested also has to sign up and pay a fee, etc.

Otherwise it's just a referral really.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 16, 2013, 02:31:22 AM
Seriously tho... even if a company did promise you such and such, you're kinda of... "whatever" if you actually throw thousands their way based on what they said would happen alone.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 15, 2013, 09:17:53 PM
No don't listen to RChevalier go and ask for a refund... It will just let me get my miner sooner.  Grin

Actually on second thought...

Yes do listen to demonmaestro.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 15, 2013, 08:25:51 PM
The Genesis Block is garbage... no your math sucks... yes but chip manufacturers will do such and such.... but no the difficulty will not... you're forgetting that...  welcome to my ignore list... no wait what about the VAT?...  yes but blah blah blah...

If you're part of the group that have orders and will not be asking for a refund ever, just ignore everyone and sit tight.
If you're part of the group that don't have orders/asked/got refund, don't waste your time in this particular thread no one will listen to you.

... wait ... don't do that...

FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!!

I took your suggestion and checked out his website.  You're assessment on it was spot on. Smiley

Ha! They changed the pic for Dennis Fontler the guy on the top left whose online pic/ID they stole from Austria.

Man these guys are a-holes & I hope they end up in a gulag somewhere.

Hahaha that is too funny!  We should try and dig up the identities for all the pics, see if they keep changing them.
