23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ICO would you suggest for February and March? on: January 31, 2018, 08:26:33 AM
These are great:-

Aktie.Social
Fabric
ClearCoin

Hi everyone! I've been reading all the top altcoin discussions and blockchain news around 4 or 5 months. Now I feel like I'm ready to get some practice Cool

My friend knows a bit more in trading, so we decided to invest together from the start. In February we plan to spend around $10k to buy different tokens. The same in March. We don't plan to get "easy money" or something like that, so we will reject any spammy or overadvertised projects. Projects with huge pre-sale discounts will be also rejected.

We're looking for long-term projects aimed to change some existing industry with blockchain. I'm gonna to check every project mentioned in the newsfeed, in this topic, and in every trustworthy list like ICOrating. For now we decided to start from Telecom and Marketing Automation areas.

Of course we all do our own researches. However, I believe that together we will be able to guard ourselves from scam/crap and find real brilliants in blockchain ocean.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Selected for February (Jan 29th)
1 https://bubbletone.io — Graphene smarcontracts aimed to eliminate mobile roaming fees. The same phone number around the world. Mobile tarification by local prices anywhere. Working prototype, strong team. Dublin, Ireland.
2 http://grain.io — simplifying smartcontracts for work agreements
3 https://www.policypal.network — Insurance for the Unbanked and Cryptoassets
4 https://en.worldwifi.io/ (Singapore), https://iungo.network/ (Estonia, EU) — Free WiFi Powered by blockchain. Share Wi-Fi, Earn tokens, see spammy ads in order to use WiFi for free.

Don't be quite if you see a suspiciuous one!

Selected for March
Global economy
1 TON cryptocurrency. WP: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oaKoJDWvhtlvtQEuqxgfkUHcI5np1t5Q/view
2 https://omnitude.tech/ — helps to evolve mass adoption of cryptocurrencies
3 https://www.globalicofund.com — interesting whitepaper, but doubtful token

Data simplification
https://daneel.io — helps with trading decision making

Declined (let us know if we're wrong!)
1 https://qlink.mobi/ — Decentralized Mobile Network. This is a mix of several services, including new cryptocurrency. Seems unfocused.
2 Tutellius.io — great concept, poor tokensale model. We won't participate in any tokensale with such a big presale discount
3 https://experty.io/ — the app aimed to monetize expert's time and efforts. More than just marketplace. Great concept also, but we don't believe in business model
4 https://valid.global/ — control on your personal data. We don't think the business model is viable
5 https://vinchain.io/ The whole Truth about a Vehicle’s History on a Blockchain. The model is not viable (opinion)
6 NTOK.io — Blockchain online education platform. Idea is great but business model doesn't seem viable
7 https://adhive.tv — Marketing. AI-controlled influencer marketing platform. This is great, but mixes 2 young technologies. We think it's better to choose: AI or blockchain?
8 https://www.gilgameshplatform.com — a self-governing, knowledge-sharing social network platform powered by Ethereum smart contracts. Great concept. Too far from business reality imo.
9 https://www.wepower.network/ (EU), https://hydrocoin.org/ (EU), https://kwhcoin.com/ (US, CA) — green energy trading platforms. All the green energy trading are being considered as too risky for now because of the lack of viable usecases.
10 https://www.arcblock.io/ — overadvertised, scam accusations
11 IQeon — not clear blockhain usage. Promises of income in fiat money while remain anonimity
12 https://www.sooloox.com/ — Monetizing customer's data. We concluded that customer's data is already stolen by global corporations, nobody is interested to buy it.

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you afraid of hackers? on: January 30, 2018, 02:44:13 AM
Recently Bloomberg posted the information that it took hackers less than 10 years to steal over 14% of all existing Bitcoins and Ethereum from the wallets of their holders. The total sum they have stolen is more than $1,2 billion! How to protect yourself from hackers attacks? Are you afraid of this stuff?

i don't think you can stop these kind of attacks you can take precautions

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm very disappointed with myself. on: January 29, 2018, 06:31:37 AM
I'm extremely depressed about my impatience and persistence.
I'm a stupid man. Fuck myself.
I bought the ETC when its price was 15$, i kept it for three months, including when it down at 9$, I still don't sell, because i believe it. And when ETC rise to 15$. I sold everything and waited it down $ 13 to buy more. But, fuck myself, the next day it rise to fucking 30$, Are you kidding me?
I bought 5000 XRP from May, i still believe it, I bought more yesterday, I bought when its price was 0,00001610sts, and when it down 0,00001558, i afraid BTC up, XRP down. So i sold everything. And... This morning I woke up with a sense of chest not say words.

This is my mistake, definitely like that. I can't blame anyone.
I told myself, "The market is still there. Nothing to hurry"
I don't complain, i post here just relieve stress. I didn't  tell anyone about this, including my wife.
Thank for listening.
learn from this experience and first research then invest
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternative Block Chains : be safe! on: January 29, 2018, 06:29:14 AM
I haven't seen anybody post about what would be my biggest worry if I were trying out alternative block chains. I realize this may be perceived as "Gavin is FUD'ding anything that isn't bitcoin!"  (FUD == Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt)  But I think some of you might be forgetting some basic computer security fundamentals in the excitement to be early adopters.

When I first heard about bitcoin, my questions were:

1) Can it possibly work (do the ideas for how it works make sense)?
2) Is it a scam?
3) If it is not a scam, could it open my computer up to viruses/trojans if I run it?

I answered those questions by:

1) Reading and understanding Satoshi's whitepaper.  Then thinking about it for a day or two and reading it again.
2) Finding out everything I could about the project.  I read every forum thread here (there were probably under a hundred threads back then) and read Satoshi's initial postings on the crypto mailing list.
3) Downloaded and skimmed the source code to see if it looked vulnerable to buffer overflow or other remotely exploitable attacks.

If I were going to experiment with an alternative block-chain, I'd go through the same process again. But I'm an old conservative fuddy-duddy.

If you want to take a risk on a brand-new alternative block-chain, I'd strongly suggest that you:

1) Run the software in a virtual machine or on a machine that doesn't contain anything valuable.
2) Don't invest more money or time than you can afford to lose.
3) Use a different passphrase at every exchange site.

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good question here on: January 28, 2018, 04:15:19 AM
I am looking to make a coin that the price does not change like all coins.  it needs a stable price, the catch is, this will need to be 100% decentralized from start to finish.

Any ideas?

TETHER

DigixDAO

OROCOIN

32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will mining will ever stop ? on: January 24, 2018, 08:29:22 PM
Hello people, i'm new in the crypto worlds , i have two questions please i need logic answers .

1 - will mining will ever stop Huh?

2 - what will happens when the cryptocurrency reaches it limits ( example : bitcoin 21M , ETH .... , and other curriencies ) ? will they win money after the currencies reaches its limits ?

thank you !

nope but if mining stops this will happen

If everybody stop mining i.e. zero hashpower in mining will result in the following:

Increased price for bitcoins as the fresh supply will be wiped off.
Transaction fee is paid by the sender to the miner, therefore no negative impact will be there on already mined blocks.
A lot of electricity will be saved.
ASICS (the specialized machines for Bitcoin Mining) like Antminer S9 will be shifted to mine other coins in SHA256 family like Litecoin.
Difficulty will be stable.

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where do you find your news? on: January 24, 2018, 07:53:34 PM
what sources i use to find news:-

1-Facebook

2-twitter

3- reddit

4-instagram

5-and always googling for new news

What websites (besides this forum) or other sources do you use to get news about your coins?
I read on bitcointalk but have the feeling that I miss a lot of interesting news about the coins I own (currently BTC, OMG, ADX, SUB, KMD, ARK, BLOCK, ETH) and would like to stay more 'in the news'.

Thanks in advance for your reply!
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paragon Coin Review :Why Its the coin to look-out for in 2018 on: January 24, 2018, 05:53:22 PM
I bought Paragon Coin the first time in December for a very discounted price Vs its ICO price.

I filled a big fat bag at $0.20. I thank my friend for giving a sound investment advice.

The best thing is even after a massive market dive, I'm 2x of my investment. I was at a time in Dec end- early Jan 4x to 5x of my investment but I held this coin tight. The reason being:

1) An effective upcoming roadmap

2) Low coin circulating supply

3) A strong social standing for its founder - Jessica Versteeg

You may want to see a review on medium to learn more about this coin

https://medium.com/@dennabranham/paragon-coin-review-why-paragon-is-my-favourite-hodl-for-2018-532f5ce6f774

Invite all of fellow BitcoinTalkers to pitch-in with their thoughts
Paragon coin has a really happening road map ahead. One of the key milestones slated for Q1 and Q2 are:

1) Launch of the first Paragon space in Los Angeles

2) Use of Paragon mobile interface which connects all the stake holders across the chain on the app. (see Paragon's Facebook page for curtain raiser to the interface, see the welcome screen in this post)

3) Listing on new exchanges, Paragon needs liquidity and it will also happen soon

I rank Paragon as one of the best coin to HODL for 2018.

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is a million dollars possible? on: January 21, 2018, 10:50:48 PM
If one were to buy and hold solid  avaerge coins (not a coin that kicks out and gets 10000% gain), but rather a nice steady gain like eth, Ltc etc (top 20) and starts with 10k, is it possible to reach a million without trading and buying/selling at highs and lows? If so, how long would you predict it would take? Or are most coins not going to last long term, so every 6 months would I have to rebalance with newer coins?
yes it is possible if you are lucky
