fyi anybody new to mining.. cpu mining is over... its not worth the stress to mine 1 coin on your cpu.. my gpus produces much more hashing power per card the hash power as 1 cpu does... cpu put out 2kh/s my gpu puts out 7.6mh/s or 2000h/s vs 7600000h/s or for every 1 coin you make i make 3800coins per card...just trying to help the newbies
Still worth mining if you don't mind getting small amounts. If you managed to get a few BTC in the early days you'd be pretty happy right now. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Also, if you post your address here I might send you a few coins. Looking to create a roadmap/some bounties over the next few days too.

Although I'm already working on getting this into an exchange, would it be worth me offering a bounty (in XCOIN) for anyone who can assist and make the process faster?
If it does make it onto an exchange then the XCOIN will be worth something, and I'm sure it'll only get more and more difficult to mine (hopefully increasing the price).
What would be a fair bounty?

There are plans to get it listed on an exchange. I'm currently talking with someone and hoping for a listing in the near future. In the mean time, I've created an experimental dice game / ponzi scheme here: http://dicex.xcoinproject.comI've limited it to 3 coins because I don't know how well it works yet. If it's successful I may increase the limits and decrease the fee/increase winning potential in future. Regards, xCoin Project Fix it, must play. It should be working now ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I'm going to release a Satoshi Dice type game for XCOIN soon, if anyone would like a gamble. Will post a link here once it's done. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

Quick question for anyone who might know, I was asked what the RPC port is as one of the questions when adding the coin to an exchange. The only reference I can find in the code is here: https://github.com/xcoinproject/xcoin/blob/master/src/chainparamsbase.cppnRPCPort = 22717; However am I right in saying that you can use any RPC port you wish, as long as it's configured in the xcoin.conf file? For example, I'm using a different RPC port specified by me for the block explorer & online wallet which I've configured in the config file. Is the RPC port above actually used for anything?

|
Looks like everything failed overnight but I've fixed it now, block explorer and online wallet are back online. I would suggest moving your coins to your own windows/mac/paper wallet so that if anything like this happens again you won't lose access to them.
|
|
|
I've added the paper wallet details to the first post.
We're just about to pass a supply of 10m coins, and have lots of people mining in the pools.
One thing I'm slightly confused about is the rate at which new coins are being generated. It was supposed to be just over 5 minutes per block but it looks more like it's one per minute and getting faster the more processing power that's being thrown at it. Is it because the difficulty only changes at set intervals, so as hashing power increases, the time between blocks decreases, until the next difficulty level is set?

any info on exchange.. to gain more interest in the coin... how about pos/staking?
Getting it listed on an exchange is a work in progress but may take a little time due to the weekend/new year. I haven't considered PoS/Staking and to be honest, wouldn't know how to implement that. I think it would overcomplicate things though. If there's lots of demand for it, maybe the community can help to create that feature in the future? As with all cryptocurrencies, it's not the creator's decision once it's been released - it's the users/miners decision! I'm in the process of creating a paper wallet option which I'll release today. I'll update the first post with details once it's released.

I've tried it in a virtual machine and it works as expected. It'd be great if others could verify ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Thanks antx, It'd be great if you could share the documentation with me. If it all looks good I'll definitely be sending some XCOIN your way ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Never heard of this algorithm. Someone mentioned it is the same as bitcoin.
If that is the case, will that make it realistically mineable through gpus?
If different algo, what is it like to mine?
It's not the same as bitcoin, it's mineable through CPU and GPU. Not sure what it's like mining with GPU but it's relatively easy to mine as part of a pool with CPU.

We're looking to compile a windows wallet in the near future, so you can use the online wallet as a temporary measure.
|
|
|
We do have plans to add it to an exchange, so I'd imagine that the difficulty will start to increase at that point.

Is this a BTC fork? These guys are usually on top of any new forks. They will not add it to their search until they can build, run and confirm wallet balances on their own node. http://walletchecker.comNo private keys, simply paste the wallet address and click! It's not a carbon copy of BTC as the algorithm is HMQ1725 rather than SHA256, but it's based on bitcoin code. Thanks for the link but walletchecker only checks Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold and Super Bitcoin

Yo, Nice work on releasing this coin, people seem to be loving it.
Before it gets too big, you should give it a new name though, since xCoin is already taken. Going to be harder to rename it in the future, so don't delay if you are seriously considering promoting the coin.
If you do make a new name, I would vote to keep it non-sketchy.
If you play your cards right, you could make a killing. Good luck sir!
Unfortunatley I don't think it'd be that easy to rename it, and since the previous x-coin is defunct, I'm hoping there won't be any problems. Also it had a different symbol (XCO) whereas this one is XCOIN. There are a couple of pools now available so I'm going to edit the first post with the details.

The pool does seem to be working now for me as well. So far it is very profitable for a CPU miner like me. This is why i like the hmq algo because is it also good for us poor old CPU miners. Thanks for releasing this coin ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) DEV - did you submit this coin to any exchanges yet? Thanks I have submitted a few requests but haven't heard anything back yet. I am hoping to get it onto an exchange in the near future if possible. I think that project must be dead - none of the links work. Didn't realise there was a previous 'xcoin'

The pool does seem to be working ok now. Hopefully there won't be any further problems but if there are, as sparkus said, it'd be best to join the discord room: https://discord.gg/nfcWWB

Glad to see there's quite a bit of interest in mining xcoin and there's a working pool. I'd love to take some suggestions on how I could give this project some momentum. Happy to reward people with XCOIN for any good ideas or work ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I think most importantly it needs to be listed on an exchange to be able to assign some value, but I don't have any budget to do this. Are there any exchanges which allow free listing? Regards, xCoin Project

Apologies - algo is HMQ1725 not sha256, I'll amend the description in my initial post.
It can be mined with a standard ccminer: "ccminer -a hmq1725 -o stratum+tcp://... -u ... -p ..."
