I'm going to destroy the droplet and try again. I must have screwed up somewhere

use sudo -i and it will make you root...then you can run the next set of commands.

Still get this:

sudo -i cd maxcoin-cpuminer
-bash: line 0: cd: maxcoin-cpuminer: No such file or directory
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MaxCoin | CPU Cloud Mining Guide | MAX VPS | Check Back in 1 Hour @ 7.30 GMT on: February 05, 2014, 09:46:29 PM
I'm stuck here:

sudo unzip maxcoin-cpuminer.zip
sudo: unzip: command not found

Make sure that you installed all dependencies including zip in order to be able to use the unzip command

11a. Install dependencies
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential libcurl4-openssl-dev zip

That worked. Thanks for your help. Now this: Sad

cd maxcoin-cpuminer
bash: cd: maxcoin-cpuminer: No such file or directory

~instacash - what 'size' droplet would you recommend?

How do you mine this with just the wallet. I've always used a pool.

I never done this but thought I would try - I'm on step 12 and waiting. Anything else to get started - is this something I need to monitor. Bare with me as I learn about the internets Smiley

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin Proof of Stake Minting Setup Guide on: November 05, 2013, 01:35:12 AM
Need help on a Mac. This is what I've done so far:

1. Have PPcoin-Qt installed and encrypted. I have ppcoind in my documents folder.

2. I open PPcoin-Qt so it's running then I open up terminal and navigate to: cd /Users/username/Documents

3. terminal shows me that I'm in: Documents username$

4. then I try running: ./ppcoind walletpassphrase ************* 9999999 true
and I get the following error: -bash: ./ppcoind: Operation not permitted

Can anyone help?

Is there a recent walk through for someone wanting to setup a new Pi with ASICMiners - think steps a grade 6 can follow. Smiley

Attach another hub between the Mac Mini and all the Ankers... but here's the important bit, make sure the in-between hub is a USB2 Powered hub.  That should get it working for you.

I have 45 BE's running on 5 Anker/AITech Hubs + fans all connected through a 12 Port USB2 Powered hub back to my Mac Pro.  Only one USB connection is used on my Mac. All working fine.

Direct USB3 from the Ankers are a bit iffy when you connect multiple to the Mac, and it works much better through a central USB2 Powered Hub, then you can connect almost as many Ankers as you want.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll pick up a USB 2.0 powered hub and give it a try.

I tried to help but apparently you didn't try any of my suggestions.   Undecided

Good luck with your problem!  Maybe someone else can help but it doesn't seem like people are flocking here to offer advice.

I didn't mean to ignore your suggestions but I already tried bitminter pool with the same results and have loaded the drivers for bfgminer and then removed then an tried cgminer. I've contacted Anker to see if they have any suggestions but I have 5 of their USB hubs and they all seem to be working the same.

I've asked in a few different locations in the forum and can't get any help.

I have a new mac mini with 4 Anker 9+1 USB hubs. One connected to each USB hub in the back of the mini. I can't get more then 15 ASICminers working. I've tried connecting each Anker one by one. I get 9 on the first one and 6 on the second and nothing more. If I connect a third and add ASICMiners blue light doesn't come on and the computer doesn't recognize it.

I've tried installing the Anker USB hubs in so many way but still can't get more then 15 miners showing up. Does anyone know if this is a OSX limitation or is it the USB Hub?

I'm ready to give up! Sad

I've got 3 anker 9+1 3.0 hubs connected to the back of a Mac mini and can't get any more then 10 ASICMiners going with cgminer. Is it the USB hub or is this something to do with OSX? Because everyone seems to always claim the anker USB hubs work.

35  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP! mac mini doesn't recognize all the usb miners using anker 9+1 hub on: September 20, 2013, 09:18:28 PM
from all my testing it does appear to be something with OSX. I'm working on running Windows 7 and Windows XP by VMWare and see if I can get this resolved.

Wow. I've posted on a few different locations around here trying to get this going with no luck. I've got a mac mini with anker usb hubs 3.0 9 + 1. I can't get all the eruptors to all show up on the hub. I've tried different combinations, I've tried connecting the hubs first then plugin each erupt ors one by one - first hub fills up ok. second hub gets to 6 then won't recognize 7,8,9 and 3rd hub doesn't recognize anything.

I've tried having the eruptors already connected then plugin the hubs into the mac mini by usb and it randomly lights up a few eruptors on each hub - really weird. Doesn't seem to recognize more then 15/16 - I have a total of 25

Mac mini is new running 10.8.4

I've installed these drivers for the USB miners - http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx

Not sure what else to do? Only thing I can think of is installing Windows 7 via bootcamp and trying to see if windows will recognize all the hubs and eruptors.

Is it the mac mini is it os x - what the hell!

I received everything in the last couple of days and need some help setting this up. I'm taking the easy root and just trying to use BitMinter java client to start mining. I have 3 Enker USB Hubs - each hub is plugged into it's own USB port on the back of the mac mini.

1st USB Hub has 9 eruptors
2nd USB Hub has 9 eruptors
3rd USB Hub has 7 eruptors

When I start BitMinter I only get 6 going on the first hub / 3 on the second hub / 5 on the 3rd hub

Bitminter gives you the option to rescan for new devices but it doesn't find them. Tried switching them around changing the USB port it's connected to the back of the mac but can't get any more going.

Any ideas?
