21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICO the way to fundraise for this company? on: July 09, 2017, 08:51:35 AM
- If I have a good project, is ICO actually a viable path for someone like me*?
If the project is based on cryptocurrencies, it would be easier to raise funds.
- Does the token need to have a function, or be backed by something specific besides the company itself?
- Does the token actually need to exist? Could someone just raise money and keep a database of donors and then issue them the "tokens" later?
- I see different types of tokens: pos, pow, etc. What's to stop someone from just using email addresses in a database and calling it a "token"? Like, what makes a token a token?
Blockchain technology lets user track their shares more transparent and makes possible to exchange shares without control of the company. It is better, when shares are distributed through tokens.
- can a token represent a share of common stock in a private corporation?
Yes, if you legally promise that tokens are equal to stocks.
- if so, can I use an ICO as sort of like a "private" IPO? That's how it seems, which is what makes it appealing.
For a real world company, you should be too transparent in order to make your investors feel safe. ICO's are better for transparent and online systems.
- Does the company/project have to have something to do with or otherwise utilize coin technology (blockchain etc)?
As I said earlier, it is not a must, but rather preferred.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Senate Moves To Destroy Bitcoin Privacy on: July 08, 2017, 09:14:51 PM
Alex Jones is not a trustable news source at all. He tries to seek as much attention as possible to earn money. It is similar to fearmongering politicians. More fear they can spread, more popular they can get. I would not see Alex Jones as a credible source for news, especially about BTC.

I like gambling and dice games are known for being transparent and having low house edges. Gambling with dice is fast and fast-paced gambling is more exciting.

I liked the design of your dice site. Also, it is transparent with fair house edge which is important for a fair gambling environment.
27  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: IN 2013 I PREDICTED DEMISE OF CRYPTSY. TODAY I PREDICT INSOLVENCY OF COINBASE on: July 07, 2017, 06:50:47 PM
There are already lots of reports about coinbase, but we have to know what the issue is. It is possible that they have some legal issues or operational issues. Coinbase is a legally registered firm which makes harder to have a similar situation like cryptsy. I hope they are just having some trouble rather than trying to scam.
28  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic equivalance of Bitcoin(time value of Bitcoin) on: July 07, 2017, 03:01:15 PM
From my point of view, gold is the economic equivalence of bitcoin. Both are not regulated by central institutions and do not produce any wealth. The only major difference is that gold can be used in jewelry and technology. Technology usage does not represent a huge part of the gold industry. The element gold is used as money(not currency). Bitcoin is relying on its usage. Historical gold is similar with bitcoin, because gold was used in trade and investing how it today with bitcoin is. Historical gold and bitcoin are more likely valued by volume(usage) and future beliefs(speculations).
29  Economy / Economics / Re: Probability of Bitcoin split on: July 06, 2017, 08:05:00 PM
I am not an expert on bitcoins technology, but I assume that it is not possible. Anyways I think such a split is not needed. If prices ramp up, we can use mBTC's in exchanges to prevent confusion. Most wallets are already displaying as default in mBTC to make it easier.
30  Local / Servisler / Re: Güney Kore bitcoin borsası Bithumb hacklenmiş on: July 06, 2017, 07:59:56 PM
Umarım Güney Kore'de Bitcoin'in yasallaşmasıyla benzer sıkıntılardan kaçınabilirler.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "Satoshi Risk" on: July 03, 2017, 07:04:28 PM
If he would like to spend his bitcoins in future, it doesn't seem like that he would dump them fast. It would not be logical to dump them fast. Small moves would not be such a huge panic situation. Pricing of bitcoin would decline, but it would not be a crash.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India's small merchants accepts bitcoin on: June 27, 2017, 03:01:10 PM

i don't think so the high fees and double spend worries are only for users on the forum and social media. i have seen that in the real world merchants are not worried about these things and those who want to spend bitcoin will do it without concerning themselves about paying a $1.8 fee for a high priority transaction versus using their credit card and ending up paying a much higher fee.

India's GDP per capita is around $1500 and $1.8 is a huge cost of transaction for them, if the customer does not shop in huge volumes $1.8 is not acceptable for anyone in India except rich. At the same time credit cards charge lower in India. Transaction fees are too high for daily usage of Bitcoin in poor countries.
33  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term argument for bitcoin on: June 27, 2017, 02:51:50 PM
The answer is simple. Bitcoin is widely used and it is what makes bitcoin more valuable than other crypto-currencies. Bitcoin is better tested on higher volumes and in a longer period of time which makes bitcoin more trustworthy than other crypto-currencies. On paper it is easy to say that all coins are similar, but one line of bad code can be a huge disadvantage and the experiences with bitcoin made it clear that we would not have easily a major problem. To conclude coins don't really produce anything. Their value is based on trust and usage.
34  Economy / Economics / Re: Recession fears as bankers warn next global crash could arrive with a vengeance on: June 27, 2017, 02:11:18 PM
Excessive spending (i.e. running budget deficits) has never been a problem in the way you think. It may lead to severe inflation via exuberant and uncontrolled money printing but it can't lead to a crash in the sense you mean it.

Economic crashes don't affect elites and banks much. They're too big to fail and will likely be bailed out.

Russians losing their pensions after the economic collapse of the USSR & rising death tolls caused as a result however are a good indication of how the crashes you say are "not a problem" can mean life or death for anyone who isn't filthy rich.

Unless you're a millionaire/billionaire you don't get to say economic crashes aren't a problem.

Crashes are a problem for anyone expect wealthy folks of conspiracy theories. Today's economy is hardly based on services and most services need demand to keep up their services fast and reliable. In a crash story services would have less costumer and would be forced to shrink. Not good services would make riches lives worst. The only positive side is that rich would be able to collect bargain assets for future enrichment, but it is not the case for the rich, which have their wealth on markets.
35  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: June 27, 2017, 08:09:38 AM
Chipmixer was the best mixer, I have ever used. The new user interface made the experience even better. Thanks for keeping this service up with updates. I am interested in future updates and I hope that this service would get more popular and reach out more people who need mixer services.
36  Economy / Economics / Re: Housing bubble in Australia on: June 27, 2017, 07:46:12 AM
Another point is that Australia had no crisis for longest time period on the world, which makes the price adjustments(lowering) do not find place in the whole market. Australia had this long streak of crisis proof economy through foreign investments. Foreign housing investments(especially from china) inflates this balloon. I believe that Australia would not be able to keep up with current prices in 2-3 years and a burst would happen. I am not an Australia expert, so i do not really know in which state Australian housing bubble is.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: weird happenings with software wallets on: June 27, 2017, 07:38:04 AM
Did you check transaction fees? Your transaction fee can be set high, which can be the cause of your loss. Go to the Tools/Preferences and check your transaction fee per kigabyte. I hope it is not the case.
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: True or false: Ethereum is a bubble, bitcoin is not on: June 27, 2017, 06:45:17 AM
Ethereum's market capitalization should not be more than half of the Bitcoin. Ethereum project is still pretty new and not proven to work efficient for ICO's. ICO's made Ethereum get more popular and pricey, but time will show, if these ICO's would really prove that Ethereum is a good platform for smart contracts and public offerings.

Tebrik ediyorum.
