The interesting part comes when Satoshi starts spending the original bitcoins. Talk about a market shock.

#9 is really two reasons. Quantum computers would wreck a lot more than just bitcoins, though. They would also crack SSL (the fundamentals of private internet communication). Quantum ASICS wouldn't solve this, because you could crack a private wallet key using only the public key.

Certainly an interesting idea, but as people have mentioned, you'd have to be properly licensed in order to handle the fiat currency.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: App to send cars/vehicles bitcoins on: December 03, 2013, 11:03:41 PM
Unfortunately, the bitcoin blockchain by itself isn't designed well to process microtransactions, because the fee for the transaction would be too big compared to the amount transferred. You would probably need a third party to step in and help with this problem.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hey bitcoiner, how OLD are you? on: December 03, 2013, 10:18:31 PM
It's surprising how many people are older than you'd expect on this forum. Considering the old adage, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks," it's pretty encouraging to see all ages learning about bitcoins.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin hold intrinsic value, or is it overvalued? on: December 03, 2013, 10:12:14 PM
Yes, I think it has intrinsic value, because it's useful.

However, nobody truly knows how much it is overvalued or undervalued, because that depends on demand, which is very fickle, to say the least.
27  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there a way to sell BTC over the web anonymously? on: December 03, 2013, 10:05:21 PM
Not without a trusted escrow service. Think about it: Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. Are you going to send your BTC before receiving payment? Or, is the other party going to pay you before receiving the BTC? Neither is likely.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name something you've actually BOUGHT with bitcoin on: December 03, 2013, 06:27:13 PM
I bought litecoins with my bitcoins... does that count? :-)

I am a software developer interested in crypto. I'm quite interested in building an android/iOS mobile app for NXT, but of course we will have to wait a bit to see how it all works.

I have a lot of nerdy CS friends as well, so I posted this on my Facebook page. I think it will generate a lot of interest. Several of my friends already hold some bitcoin and litecoin. Please send an extra dosage, and I'll pass it around! :-)

Very clever. Not sure it was $22,000 of clever, though.
