21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin holders, are you diversifying in case the fork proves catastrophic on: March 22, 2017, 04:13:18 AM
Is anyone using their btc to buy cars or houses in case the BU fork hits bitcoin hard?

Maybe converting btc to fiat or another crypto?

If you held bitcoin, how would you diversify your holdings to keep them safe in the event the hard fork forks things up?

 Undecided

Diversification is the best way to preserve your wealth over time in my opinion. Whenever there is something major going on I am never sided with either side but rather just try to hedge against either side and keep the value of my balance the same.

I would keep 50% BTC, cash out 50% fiat.

That way if bitcoin rises you’ll still make half the profit that you may have gotten if you haven’t sold your bitcoin for fiat at all, but if bitcoin falls you only need to cop half the losses.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how has your attitude to bitcoin changed the longer you've been into it? on: March 21, 2017, 06:49:15 AM
what was your attitude when you first got into bitcoin? was it to get rich quick? make some dollars? learn the tech?

and how has it changed the more you've learnt? did you go from a moon kid to a serious scholar of the tech or even more of a moon kid than before?

i started off as interested in the dollars, then got more and more fascinated by the whole world around it, now i think i'm starting to come out the other side a little.

the more i've learnt about this scene the more screwed up it seems and i don't see how it's gonna cure itself. there's money to be made but i might be doing it no longer believing in its immediate future.

cryptocurrencies will never go anywhere but i'm starting to think what's around us now will be looked back on as the experimental and growing pains phase rather than anything that directly survives and is built on into the future. uncool but from the heart.

what about you?

Definitely in my case it is to get rich quick.

I strongly believe that a lot of other people have started the same way as i started, naive, immature, thinking bitcoin is the way for them to get a million dollars in no time, thinking that they have the perfect strategy in gambling, etc etc.

I first looked at bitcoin when i looked at options to gamble anonymously online, as a result i came across sites such as PrimeDice and Just-Dice.

I was spending up to 6 hours a day on these sites just reaping faucet and chatting away, and when i had that 0.1 BTC i would deposit and lose it all.

Definitely not a good idea to gamble, there is no perfect strategy. House always wins.

However bitcoin gives you the opportunity to essentially bet against the gamblers as well, which means that you can be the house. That way, you can win in the long run instead of losing all the time.
23  Economy / Economics / Re: So easy to make people panic. right? on: March 21, 2017, 06:48:40 AM
Ok so due to BU the size of blocks can be increased which will result in faster transaction confirmation and eventually less price so my question is (correct me if i am wrong) What's stopping some another stupid developer to create another fork in which he increases the supply of bicoin lol and majority of the nodes start accepting that? May be then all the hodlers will be doomed?

Well that guy will not get enough hashing power nor support in the community for the fork to be accepted.

Plus, nobody will be so stupid to accept that fork. Anyone can make a fork, even you and me can make one. but what matters is that if your fork gets the majority of bitcoin's total hashing power, and whether the community appreciates it.

So an answer to your question is no, HODLers won't be doomed because it'll never happen in the first place.

UP UP UP

Has anyone gotten a vouch copy and posted a review yet?

If there are any other vouch copies left, i'd happily take one and post a nice honest review about it today.

Please let me know, thanks.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Unlimited Won't Ever Be The "Bitcoin", Exchanges Vow on: March 21, 2017, 06:42:29 AM
We already know that Bitcoin Exchanges won't allow BU to usurp the throne and will treat it as an altcoin.
Maybe it is time to stop supporting Bitcoin Unlimited and/or set real consensus conditions for BU to take over.

Please watch this video and share your comments below: Bitcoin Unlimited Won't Ever Be The "Bitcoin", Exchanges Vow / MelonPort on Kraken / Much More!

Yep, most of the bitcoin and altcoin exchanges including Poloniex, Bittrex, Bitfinex and the like are making a public statement saying that Bitcoin Unlimited will be listed as an altcoin on the exchange instead of BTC itself.

Bitcoin core will remain to be the "BTC" on exchanges which you deposit and withdraw with.

If there was to be a fork with two coins in the end, then bitcoin's value will probably drop dramatically.

BTU + BTC would be the price that bitcoin is supposed to be at at any given moment, just like what happened with ETH and ETC.
26  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC Price Change Factor in Trading on: March 21, 2017, 06:35:02 AM
So when trading altcoin with bitcoin, how does bitcoin price change affects your trade?
I mean if bitcoin price is low, and also an altcoin is at a dump, and you do the trade, and then both of them rise up, the altcoin you traded is at its peak in terms of its dollar value but as the bitcoin price is also very high, you won't be earning any profit even if you sell the altcoin at its peak.
so what are the appropriate solutions at this point of time, as you don't actually want to lose bitcoin and also don't want to lose the opportunity to make some profit as the altcoin you hold is at its peak.

Hope you guys got the scenario, I know its confusing.

What I find is that when bitcoin rises, most altcoin in fiat terms rise as well.

But when bitcoin rises, most altcoins especially the top 10 altcoins will drop dramatically in bitcoin value or stay the same in value. They rarely will go up by a lot when bitcoin price is going up by tons as well.

This correlation is usually caused by altcoin traders are also bitcoin traders.

There is only so much money in the trader's hands, when they are long with bitcoin they can't be long with altcoins.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: The rush to sell is real on: March 21, 2017, 06:33:37 AM
What I've learned from trading for a few years is that after a spike in price, the price will go back down some. The price of Bitcoin went up too fast so there are people that will cash out so the price is almost always going to drop but it will recover.

When there are price hikes, there will be low points.

That's true with any stocks or any assets, not just bitcoin.

So don't go "oh no, everything's failing now because the price is at below $1000 for 3 days", but rather look at the bigger picture here. Bitcoin hasn't ever stayed above $1000 as long as this time.

Think of the positives, and don't get dragged into the crowd. Go against the crowd sentiment.
28  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE CASINO - CONGRATULATIONS TO WONTON FOR WINNING 300BTC on: March 21, 2017, 06:32:14 AM
Yeah that 200 btc was definitely one of the biggest bets I've seen recently. It is a shame for him that it was a losing bet though. Would have been nice to see that one hit a win.

Jesus Christ.

Especially with the bitcoin price soaring in the past few weeks i personally will not be able to cope with such a big loss... My mind just isn't strong enough to handle a loss of $200,000 which could have been the downpayment i needed for my first house purchase.

Anyways, this just proves that Bitdice is attracting new players by the day because of their sexy interface.

It would be a great idea to invest there, as there are a lot of high rollers as well as regular small players right now.
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investing in Bitcoin Casinos are really worth it? on: March 21, 2017, 06:30:35 AM
It been quite some time since I have been away from Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, but seeing Bitcoin's price rise and the recent trends going about the block chain, it seems that soon we'll be seeing BTC becoming used as a mainstream currency by all major corporations, businesses (and even governments perhaps).

Now I've became interested into Bitcoin casino investing, but I want to know if it is worth a shot. I know that there is a risk in every investment, but I think this could be the most profitable way to go.

If anyone could share some tips or advice regarding this, I would greatly appreciate it.  Smiley

My personal experience with casino investment would tell you that yes, it is a good idea.

When Just-Dice was still using bitcoin and there were hundreds of bitcoins gambled in single bets, the profits of the casino were sky high. I recall making at least 0.05% per day on my investment which really adds up in the long run.

If you can i suggest invest on sites that allow leverage, like Bitvest and Yolodice.

With leverage you have more risk but you can also profit more.
30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sport betting exchanges on: March 21, 2017, 06:28:31 AM
Hi

I'm new here and I want to know if there is any sports betting exchange which accepts cryptocurrencies for deposit/withdrawals?

I prefer exchanges rather to bookmakers since one is betting against other users instead of the house

Fairlay.com is the most commonly used bitcoin betting exchange.

The advantages are obvious once you start using it. You are not betting against a house which means you get better odds, the payouts are instant, and you can literally bet on anything, including the price of bitcoins.

A broader spectrum would be bitcoin derivative exchanges, as i consider them gambling as well.

Check out bitmex and deribit.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Star Trek / MONERO - RANSOMWARE on: March 20, 2017, 06:04:31 AM
In my opinion this is going to hurt real bad news for monero.

I think that Bitcoin is idea of keeping a public letter is better because there is really no point of having full anonymity it's just going to let the gangsters be the only users and promote the act of illegal good purchases.

I'd stick to bitcoin...
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs ETH vs Dash? on: March 20, 2017, 06:01:44 AM
All I'm going to say is that Bitcoin is the first crypto-currency and nothing can change that fact no matter how many alternative crypto currencies are released by the day.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain will transform 70 billion loyalty industry on: March 20, 2017, 06:00:36 AM
Well you can say that but obviously blockchain technology was supposed to be the end for a search of financial institutions the perfect and decentralized and also the end of the competition between big Payment Systems however right now we can't see a big advantage of Bitcoin against versus normal fiat counterparts.

There is potential but it will be quite hard.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Doge Ever Going to Go Anywhere? on: March 20, 2017, 05:58:21 AM
Not in my opinion although the markets to me from time to time and don't ask why no good community behind it

Personally I won't a written test in a coin that is not innovative.
35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Planned or impulsive gambling? on: March 20, 2017, 05:57:06 AM
Trust me nobody ever plans to gamble because when they are not under Impulse they know that the house edge will win against them in the long run and they also know that every time the gamble they will gamble everything away and they will not withdraw any amount even if they are up by  10 times.

Real Gamblers will have and each time to time to gamble and when they do the either control or later this is the difference between compulsive and non compulsive gambling
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Online Wallets on: March 20, 2017, 05:51:54 AM
Not really in my opinion because on the online wallets naked to keep your own private keys and therefore your funds are not 100% secured you are trusting the site operator which can be scammers in some cases to keep your coins in a nice secure manner and not run with it themselves.

I'll just leave they are very convenient so I suggest you keep only a portion of your savings on online Wallace and the rest and cold storage
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no competition on: March 20, 2017, 05:49:52 AM
Well, in my opinion this is very very true that I know alternative right now off to Bitcoin so I can succeed by itself alternative currencies to Bitcoin all depend on the likelihood of Bitcoin to survive because Bitcoin has the reputation of being the first cryptocurrency released.

Obviously that could be future for some dick when that can be drastically improved and I'm not saying that Bitcoin is perfect but right now as we can see there are no clue competitors that are able to succeed over Bitcoin
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you use a Bitcoin ATM? on: March 20, 2017, 05:46:52 AM
I definitely would be good to Bitcoin ATM machine would make sense as it provides the masses with access with to Bitcoin which is something that we has a community need to work together to get to.

I have believe that Bitcoin ATMs should really not require any identification because that is against formation of Bitcoin however due to obvious governmental regulations that is not really possible right now.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is resistant to state control. on: March 20, 2017, 05:44:54 AM
Well obviously because Bitcoin itself is against States control. This is another reason why it is seen as such a good hedge against Fiat currencies.

When you look at the future in my opinion they will only be space for decentralised currencies to live people will realise over time that the government is scamming the Life Savings out of them and once they realise that everyone will move to Bitcoin.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are dice sites reliable? on: March 18, 2017, 09:33:10 PM
I'd say that 99%of dice sites here that are completely unlicensed are better than all the licences casinos out there by a large margin. Except for bitdice.

Most of the dice sites are legit and their operators are the most trusted people in the bitcoin community in some cases because they are able to handle hundreds of thousands of dollars or even bitcoin without any intention to scam.

Try bitdice, Bitsler and Primedice. These are the three dice sites I use and find trustworthy.
