oh please... c-cex sucks so much, one of the crappiest exchanges with no volume, no users and no future. I'd even pay for them to NOT list MAIA lol  Screw that shit. |

Yes, one of the best security features in Crypto Land is coming to MaiaCoin!
For those of you who have never heard of it before, FibreLock is an android style security lock feature for the wallet. The Fibre team created this amazing feature a little while ago, and now its coming to MaiaCoin.
FibreLock is a 'mouse click' only pass-code input mechanism which helps to stop key presses being monitored by malware and viruses, so protecting your coins in your wallet!Here is an image of FibreLock securing the Bitcoin core wallet! hahaha I knew that you already had something like my "keypad" security system ready. I just saw you already had a similar system (SecureBoost) for your second coin. What's the difference between these two? |

Also it would be interesting to add some security features, I've seen quite a few cases of lost Bitcoins due to malicious software. Think about the authentication system used on many Bank websites and mobile apps: I think it's an essential feature when dealing with money. A good alternative could be a 2FA service with a mobile app generating passphrases based on wallet signature + global time (5-10 minutes precision, i.e. passphrase will update every 5-10 minutes). Actually, since everyone will benefit from it (including bitcoin project and every other altcoin)..... I'd love to see Maiacoin as a testbench for new security features. What do you think mammix2 ? It'll definitely bring great value into your work and maiacoin itself! |

I made it 200k as i didn't want to rush the release and to give everyone a chance to upgrade. But at the end of the day, you guys bring value to crypto currencies, so i will move the restart forward to block 180k.
As of writing this, we are at block 169000, At 1 minute blocks (1440 blocks per day) the mining restart should be ~ 1 week from now.
I'll update the code, build new wallets and post the new details asap.
Thank you! I want to trade this coin on BTC38 and maybe Cryptsy (but I prefer BTC38)! I don't trust Bittrex since they started adding shady scamcoin IPOs and not filtering what coins they add at all, it became a bad exchange with no volume. All other exchanges are even worse. I wouldn't trust my money to any other exchange either (remember Mintpal? C-cex?) |

Good news.
MaiaCoin project restart is ready to go. X15 Mining will re-open at block 200,000 for 20,000 blocks, which is about 10 - 12 days mining. Currently we're at about 168,000 so this give you plenty of time to download the new wallet as this will require a mandatory upgrade. As this is a continuation of the MaiaCoin blockchain, all your previous coins will still be valid! If you update after block 200k you will be required to re-downlaod the blockchain again, so you are in sync with the new data
The new wallet has been restyled and features anonymous mixing transactions between wallets to give you the option of moving money around without being tracked!
Over the very near future there will be a push to get MaiaCoin listed back on exchanges and to start trading again so you can all trade some value back into MAIA.
I would also like to ask for suggestions on future development and which next features you would like to see most in the next release of MaiaCoin.
Tomorrow evening i will make the new wallets available to dowload with instructions on how to ensure the safety of your existing coins! Remember this will require a hard fork, so everyone must move on the new wallet
So we have to wait for 3 weeks again?! There's no reason to wait this long. 3 weeks is eternity for crypto.... I mean c'mon, make it from block 180000 like you originally planned, 8-9 days from now is enough for everyone to catch up. |

We're at a block 162528 now. Block 170000 will be in 5 days, 180000 – in 12 days. Will be nice to have a hard fork 1 week sooner if it's ready! |

When the voting started that was one of the first votes and a few people have asked outside or the voting. Thinking of new idea, having the PoW open up again open the market to the enthusiasts. Yes i appreciate that it will devalue the existing coins out there but they are not being traded anywhere so technically don't have a value at the moment. I see it as a good opportunity to try something new.

I'm working on a new Algorithm for the reopening, this will take some time to get right. Also i have to create new mining software to got with it, CGminer etc....
That's pretty cool... but why would you want a new POW period? Any particular reason to do that? |
