21  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Blade heeeeeeeelp please! on: November 26, 2013, 09:20:44 PM
Since you are running on 192.168.0.x and the blade is on 192.168.1.x
You need to manually change the IP of your computer.

This is extremely easy to do.

1. Click on your connection status.
2. Click on Propreties
3. Double Click on Internet Protocal Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
4. Click on use the following IP address:
5. put IP 192.168.1.10 (or any number)
6. subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
7. Gateway 192.168.1.1 (Not really inportant thought)
8. close box by clicking OK
9. close box by clicking OK
10. Connect to your blade 192.168.1.254?
11. Change the IP of your blade to 192.168.0.x (what ever IP you want)
12. Click on Update/reboot
13. Go back and do steps 1-3 again
14. Now put it back to "Obtain an IP address automatically" on the top part & on the bottom part "Obtain DNS server address automatically"
15. close box by clicking OK
16. close box by clicking OK
17. log into your blade under it's new IP 192.168.0.x (the IP you put in there)

And that's it!!

Looks like a lot of steps but it only takes about 30 seconds to do.

Now might be the time to sell your hardware as the new stuff is coming out.
Give it a couple weeks and prices will settle down then repurchase and 1/8 the price.

Is it USB 3.0?

I know USB 2.0 standards are 500ma per port but USB 3.0 can go up to all the way up to 5A
Seeing that it is a Mac I bet they make each port at least 2.1 Amp to be able to charge the iPad on it.

Edit: A lot of USB 2.0 ports have high Amps to enable you to charge your phone etc... Often it is 1 dedicated port on your laptop that will have a lightning bolt on top of it.

Ok I found it.

So MSI afterburner will not change Voltage on crossfired video cards (Yours is 7970 crossfire)
You need to Disable ULPS in the registry

Here is how to do it:

Go to registry and disable Ulps:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\Control \\Cl ass\\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]

and change "EnableUlps" to 0 under the 0000 and 0001 or 0003 keys.

http://www.overclock.net/t/667144/crossfire-disabling-ulps

Once that is done the mofified Afterburner should work.

To enable the unofficial overclocking in this version it is necessary to edit the MSIAfterburner.cfg file located in the installation directory of AfterBurner (typically Program Files (x86) MSI Afterburner):

You need to alter the following:
Seek UnofficialOverclockingEULA field and add following text:
I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
Set UnofficialOverclockingMode to 1 to keep PowerPlay active (may not work on old ASICs), 2 to traditionally disable PowerPlay or to 0 to temporary disable unofficial overclocking path
Using the unofficial overclock method opens up more freedom in terms of voltages and clock ranges, it however also can open a can of worms in terms of stability or weird issues.

Unofficial means unsupported -- we grant some extra tweak options to fool around with, but in no way, manner or fashion is it supported by Guru3D.com or MSI.

What kind of 7990 do you have? is it modified or is it the AMD Reference one?

Sorry.

I have a 7950 and you can download afterburner and you just need to change the settings in the config file of the afterburner software then you can change your voltage to what ever you want.
I have done that one mine. I will look and see if I can find the how to.

Is it really worth mining with a graphic card anymore?
you are getting 1,200 Mh/s but you are talking about 550W just for the video card + computer makes ~700w
at $.10 Killowatt hour you are spending $47 a month on electricity.

You would be better off buying Erupters and using a Raspberry pi & a blue/red furry or 4 Erupters.
The Pi cost $45
Erupters (Crazy price now but I got mine for $10-15)

so in 2 month of electricity you could have a pi running 4 Erupters (depending on price) and get the same performance and spend 15w $1.01 a month on electricity.
28  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / ATX Power Adapter on: November 26, 2013, 05:23:28 PM
I am not sure if this belongs in hardware or not.

But I found this awesome ATX power adapter on the black arrow website.

https://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/atx-to-dc-power-adapter.html

And it is only $20 that I do not mind paying but since it is being shipped from China there is a $64.00 shipping price making the total of 84.00.
That is a little more than I want to spend.

Does anyone now of any similar adapters or this adapter that I can buy in the US?

That is what I am doing now but with this it makes it easier to wire the blades, usb hubs, etc...  Insted of making my own wires to plug in the blades this would make it easy as pi.

Also would make the wiring much much cleaner hide all the other wires and juts have that out.

Hello all New member long time reader.

I am looking for an ATX PSU adapter.

I am currently running 2 blades V2 and 7 USB erupters.

I found this a ATX to DC adapter on the Black Arrow website
http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/atx-to-dc-power-adapter.html

It is exacly what I need, and only $20 but shipping is $60+ and $80+ is a little out of my price range.

Does anyone know of a similar product sold in the US?
I have searched everywhere with no luck and accidentally found this looking at investing on new rigs.
