Hey bitcoin9999 - just want to dispel this rumor from the start. Bitcoin Green is in no way affiliated with Bitcoin Lightning. BITG was in development well before BLT was released. We do not know anything about the BLT project. We have noticed the low % of coins locked in masternode and heavy sell walls on exchange with BLT. What is the end goal of this Bitcoin Green?
Since you're using the hashtag #savebitcoin, should I assume you see Bitcoin Green (BITG) replacing Bitcoin (BTC) in the near future?
We believe that Bitcoin Green can replace Bitcoin to function as a daily transactional currency and store of value. The public is becoming aware of Bitcoin's massive energy consumption. It takes time to build the network effects of a new decentralized currency, but Bitcoin Green will grow as the mainstream cryptocurrency community becomes more aware of the sustainability issues with Bitcoin. We believe that Bitcoin's true problem lies in the POW algorithm which consumes massive amounts of energy. Furthermore, there are many people who are environmentally conscious and wish mine/use cryptocurrency. Bitcoin Green provides an alternative to wasteful, unsustainable Bitcoin. Bitcoin Green represents a sustainable future for Bitcoin - and could one day become the sustainable standard for the cryptocurrency. This is a great question. What makes BITG unique is the design and the mission. First, there's the coin design. Bitcoin Green is pure POS (energy efficient) with a fixed block reward. A fixed block reward creates a more fairly distributed coin than other POS methods, which typically end up compounding disproportionately (most %-based block reward coins). Adding Masternodes makes the mining process even more equitable and beneficial for the coin. The addition of MNs means that the benefit of each 2500 BITG is exactly the same. It requires 2500 BITG to have a "miner" and the majority of the block reward goes to the holders of a "miner". Masternode holders contribute to the appreciation of network value by increasing scarcity. Therefore, the masternode holders, who are contributing the most to the appreciation of network value, receive the largest portion of the benefits of inflation. Bitcoin Green is on a mission. We are here to spread awareness about the environmental threat posed by proof-of-work and Bitcoin. Nobody else is focusing on this problem, but it's a very important topic. We will be traveling to blockchain conferences to spread awareness about this issue and truly begin the discussion about Bitcoin's energy consumption. With Bitcoin Green, we created a simple, scalable solution to Bitcoin's sustainability problem and it works. There is NO proof-of-work component for BITG after the premine. It is POS/Masternodes only. I think that this project solves a problem that cannot be solved in this way.
The massive energy consumption of bitcoin mining is not a thing that the bitcoin code demands, you see.
Consensus and the same blocktimes could be achieved with far less energy consumption, it is the miners who are having an arms race to get more bitcoin profits, who drive up the energy consumption.
So how does one solve the problem of human greed?
I do not see the answer in this project and therefore am skeptical.
It says "Masternode Mining" in the first post but still PoW and that is more confusing than enlightening. Just my 50 sats on this thread.
Check out the whitepaper. The Green Protocol is energy efficient and highly scalable. A coin needs to be able to handle market realities. When are you planning to open discord channel ?

BITG is a decentralized currency, so the community is the focus rather than the team. However, BITG is well-supported with a strong team. You can meet the team in Discord or Telegram. Additional team info will be added at a later date. Any airdrop?
Yes. There will be plenty of airdrop opportunities through social media (Discord, Telegram, Twitter, etc). There will also be bounties and contests. There is a large reserve of BITG for the community. |

It really depends. Nowadays, there's so many forms of mining. With mining you must consider the payback period and longevity of the project you are working on. If you can recoup your cost in coins quickly enough, then it is pure profit. There are better ways to do it than proof-of-work mining, too! |
