22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Kudos to CINFU HOSTING SOLUTIONS (VPS) on: August 21, 2011, 06:17:52 AM
Hello All,

I run the Bitcoinz Super Store . I would like to extend my belated thanks to the admins at CINFU Hosting Solutions. They really helped me awhile back when mybitcoin.com went south. I was using mybitcoin.com as a payment processor and when they went AWOL I was left in a lurch. I needed to recreate my payment back end. I investigated most of the shopping cart programs out their zencart, opencart, etc. I decided to keep all processing in-house for safety and convenience. I did not want to host bitcoind on my home PC's as I could not guarantee security...I admit I am a torrent junkie. The best option was renting a VPS to host my bitcoind instance. I looked around at several VPS hosting companies and eventually found CINFU. The admin at CINFU installed and configured bitcoind on ubuntu for FREE. I was amazed that he offered this service. I valued that immensely since my Linux kung fu is weak. The whole thing was up and running within the hour. For around $8.00 a month I have a fully functional instance of bitcoind thanks for them. I highly recommend them for anyone wanting to have their bitcoind remotely hosted. Their customer service is top notch. They are based out of Germany but from my experience there is very little latency between (USA/CAN)  and them.

Without them I would never have had the chance to top over 160 customers to date since my launch last month or so.

Many Thanks,
Trevor Andrew Wozny

Hello,

What happens if someone sends you bitcoins and your bitcoin client or bitcoind is offline? If the receiving address is not there what happens to the transfer? Does it get bounced back, how does the network handle this eventuality....just curious Smiley

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hello All,

For about a week and a half now I have had to take down the BitCoin Super Store.

We were using www.mybitcoin.com as a payment processor up until they went missing in action. Their disappearance left us without a working shopping cart. We were lucky, we never lost any coins on their disappearing act.

I spent the last week investigating my Bitcoin payment options.  We are now handling all payment processing in house now. This is the best and most secure option. It took a lot of code tweaking but all is working great now. All functionality of the store has been restored. During this downtime all customer concerns were dealt with in a timely manner. I am working furiously adding new products from our varied suppliers for your shopping enjoyment.

If you are looking to spend some of those bitcoins and help stimulate the Bitcoin economy come check us out : http://bitcoinz.ca/shop/ .

We have over 1300 items at present, more being added daily.

Drop us a line to let us know what kind of products you would like to see and we will work to get them for you.

Sorry for any inconvenience the recent down time may have caused

32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Zen Cart Bitcoin Gateway Problem - Please help on: August 04, 2011, 07:52:11 AM
Hello All,

Has anyone been able to get the zen cart bitcoin payment gateway to work? having issue with it connecting to bitcoind.

I purchased a VPS and have bitcoind running on Ubuntu. The gateway installed correctly into zen cart, I can setup all the RPC information as directions require.  Whenever I try to use the gateway zen cart throws this error :

Error: Bitcoin server is down. Please email system administrator.

This error suggests a communication error to bitcoind. I believe that bitcoind is installed correctly .

When I run " bitcoind getinfo" I get this:

bituser@server1:~/.bitcoin$ bitcoind getinfo
{
    "version" : 32400,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,
    "blocks" : 139551,
    "connections" : 10,
    "proxy" : "",
    "generate" : false,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "difficulty" : 1888786.70535305,
    "hashespersec" : 0,
    "testnet" : false,
    "keypoololdest" : 1312281932,
    "paytxfee" : 0.00000000,
    "errors" : ""

It does show that it is synched correctly. I have tried 3-4 different shopping carts with the appropriate Bitcoin gateways...no dice. Nothing connects at all. I did not install bitcoind myself , the VPS company offered this service for free.

This is what is in my bitcoin.conf:

server=1
rpcallowip=72.*.*.*
rpcallowip=174.*.*.*
rpcport=8332
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=password
rpctimeout=90

Has anyone encountered RPC call issues with shared web hosting services?

After all my testing I am starting to think that my hosting on a shared IP is the issue. Does this sound right? I am starting to feel exhausted and desperate to find a solution. Do you need a dedicated IP to get this stuff to work?

Please can some linux guru give me the commands to check connectivity to bitcoind? I really want to make sure it is not some setting or firewall issue to bitcoind.

Please advise....
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Payment Gateway Questions (VPS or Local) on: August 02, 2011, 07:48:16 AM
Hello All,

I am the administrator for the BitCoinz Super Store (bitcoinz.ca/shop). Since mybitcoin.com has disappeared without a trace my store is in need of BTC payment gateway. I am running tests with Zen Cart with the BTC payment gateway module. Everything works fine except the RPC communication to the instance of bitcoin I am running.

(1)

I am trying to get the shopping cart to communicate to a dedicated machine in my office. The PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate. I have setup a firewall exception for Bitcoin.

I have created a bitcoin.conf in the correct appdata location... With contents:

RPCUSER=******
RPCPASSWORD=********

I launch bitcoin through a batch file that launches at boot.

Here is the command used to fire up bitcoin in server mode:  bitcoin.exe -server -RPCALLOWIP=store-ip-address -RPCPORT=8332

RPC never connects...shopping cart can not connect to bitcoin. I can ping my IP just fine.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get this work? Is there some command wrong?

(2)

I am seriously considering setup a VPS (linux) for this purpose.

Is there any suggestions on which VPS provider to choose?

Is there anyone that will install bitcoind on the VPS (Linux) for me (I am not a Linux guy)?  If so how much would you charge for the installation?

Any suggestions or comments is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

If I convert my store to use your VPS service, could you provide assistance with setting up Bitcoin server on it.. mybitcoin.com was my payment processor, now with them vanishing off the planet I am left without payment functionality. Please advise if you could provide this installation service.

Thank You,

Thanks for the information... I guess ultimately the only way to be truly anonymous is to unplug from the net completely.

Hello,

Thank you phillipsjk for your input. I have adjusted my terms of service to address the refund issue. You are right refunds should be in BTC not USD. As this is a new venture there are still kinks to be worked out. In regards to privacy I will not share any data with anyone else. Facebook and Google Adsense of course do their own thing out of my control. Unless I am mistaken all they can track is IP#'s and visitor numbers and similar metrics, they do not have the reach to gather your personally identifiable information. Please if I am wrong let me know and I will figure out how to word the privacy policy better. I greatly appreciate your knowledgeable input in these matters.

Thank You,
Trevor Andrew Wozny
