21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I got merits, lots of them - do you want some?? on: June 15, 2018, 03:04:19 PM
I get merits easily, sure I know "its easy for you as you have been here ages" ETC ETC.. but for those who actually want to level up and be a part of this community then I will do my best to advise you.

Here is a link to the original thread in Meta. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3182178.0

This will help only a few people here as most will just want the bounty Moniez.. but for those who can think a little bigger, and those of you who are here for the right reasons then.

I am adamant the number one cause of no merits is poor English, this is something you can change if you are struggling to get merits so if you know that this is the limitation then you need to take some steps

* Improve your English language, this isnt just spelling and grammar this includes using words like Sir & Mr when I see those I immediately assume the person is a 3rd world poster
* Spend the time that you currently use posting incoherent rubbish to learn proper Written English, start with youtube there has to be over 3002 different videos about writing the English Language also
https://www.duolingo.com/course/en/ar/Learn-English-Online was recommended by another poster
* Read a few English books, you can download free Ebooks as a starter, look how sentences are structured common words etc.
* Remember a quality post isnt necessarily a long winded post, using words that make you sound like you swallowed a thesauras doesnt help your cause

Take the above advise and stop trying to level up for 3-6 months you will become a quality poster if you use some more of your free time reading the forum, this doesn't mean bounties, altcoins, speculation all the shit subs.. and only post in a few threads every week, no need to try to max out the activity now, sure you want to keep getting towards the higher numbers but its counter productive when we see high activity and 0 merit. Read technical discussion, read all of the most merited threads, understand the significance of Pizza day, the 2011 bubble, Cyprus, HODL, the fall of all the securities that some of us lost the equivalent of $Millions now.

one other thing, you need to stop these bounties, I know it hurts you now financially, but seeing someone in a low end bounty for $20 just makes me assume they are a 3rd world poster and with a great initiative by BTCforJoe there is an option to help https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3055616.0 That thread is a tremendous Idea so props to OP there

a few more things
Do NOT call Sr Members Sir, Mr or any other shit like that, It is not needed.
READ THE FUCKING RULES, both forum rules and individual board rules.
Don't post in Bitcoin Discussion or Economics and wherever you are do NOT post in megathreads, I guarantee you have nothing new to say.
Humor is good, lots of people get merit for silly one liners if they are funny.

Good luck all you newbies, I hope this helps a few of you. Please do not PM me begging for merits, I will ask DT members to tag you if you do.

EDIT: use the search button, so many redundant threads

Thanks so much for taking time and writing this. Really appreciate it. I read a few of the stuff written by you and I am not surprised why you been receiving the merits you have. Lots to take from this article and hopefully I would be as good as you! :-)
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can someone suggest me a accurate cryptocurrency market prediction source? on: June 12, 2018, 02:25:15 PM
Guys,

Does anyone here know of any individual/telegram group or whatsapp group etc that gives accurate predictions on cryptocurrencies based on TA and other news factors?

For example someone predicting a market downturn as a result of the recent cryptocurrency exchange hack?

These kind of details are very much important for any person who plans to engage in swing trading, which is what I plan to do as well :-). Any help is very much appreciated!

Thank you
23  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Accidently sent Ethererum to my ERC20 address on IDAX exchange. on: June 10, 2018, 07:27:06 AM
Hi,

Are u referring to the exchange IDEX? I once saw a thread on GitHub about people facing the problem you had mentioned and on certain occasions it has been a unfortunate loss of funds but let's hope it's not the case with you.

I honestly can't advice you on the technical side but I would give you some advice which I heard from a ton of experts. For Ether and it's tokens the best wallet to use is myetherwallet and a lot of people who have used wallet's such a mist have encountered the problem  mentioned by you.

What country is this exchange based in? Did you try checking if they are on any social media channels? Especially on Telegram? They are very much responsive on those.

Please let me know the updates, it's very much of a useful question lot of us should br educated about. Thanks
24  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crypto & the Developing World on: June 08, 2018, 12:18:44 PM
In a world increasingly connected by networked digital technologies, there are several barriers and challenges concerning how global financial systems interact with populations around the globe, particularly in the developing world:
https://medium.com/@coinmetro/crypto-the-developing-world-the-perfect-combo-cbb71a7c8744

Thank you for sharing this great read.

Being from a Asian region my self, I have personally witnessed many of the scenarios described in the article shared. Quite a significant number of people in my country leave for overseas employment and I have observed the remitting of money from abroad and the high chargers associated with it being a real problem especially among people who go abroad for meager earnings. Its bad enough them leaving their loved ones in search of greener pastures but they also have to forego a significant charge monthly to get the monies to their family.

I cant agree more with what the article mentions about mobile phones and I strongly believe this would be one of the most compelling reasons for cryptocurrencies to have a far and wide reach in coming years. I honestly wish it would do so very fast and that would provide and make life easier for a lot of the people who are consumed by unfair banking systems and practices and make life easier for the unbanked population.

It is one of the most compelling reasons I love this technology its ability to create change in the world.
25  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anybody looking at Ian Balina's Spreadsheet? on: June 07, 2018, 08:08:31 AM

Salut,

I have specific question regarding the access to Ian's Spreadsheet.

I like consulting it to back my own research and compare our findings concerning specific ICOs.
However (not having accessed it for a longer period of time), when I tried to view it yesterday, I realized that things changed and one has to access it though his Telegram nowadays.
I did so, however, once I tried to view it, it stated "ERROR" in each grading column. Reattempted the procedure several times, the error remained.

Anybody experiencing the same issues - or does even have proposal on how to solve the problem?

Regards and thanks  Cool.

Hey,

I am rather familiar with Ian Balinas infamous spreadsheet, seen him using it in his ICO review videos  but never really used it so wont be able to solve your problem :-). But I though I would share something I use to analyse possibly good ICO's.

I am part of a telegram group named as Top 7 Ico which sends out a spreadsheet like once a week. The spreadsheet includes the top seven ICO's of very popular ICO reviewers including Ian Balina.

You could join this telegram group at t.me/top7ico

Hope it helps.

27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will atomic swaps replace crypto currency exchanges? on: June 06, 2018, 02:10:06 PM
Yes you do have a valid point as it beingi a life enhancement which I do agree as well, but what if security concerns overrides this then does it not become more of a necessity?

In the end, the method which manages to be proven better will win more users. It's hard to say which is better now because the other half of the comparison doesn't even exist yet, so while I'm somewhat skeptical, I would prefer to wait and see.

Yes I agree with you, its a matter of time I guess to see which method is more adopted, depending how much of a threat security issues are and personal risk appetite of masses things can change so it is a wait and see how things evolve.

Thanks for the insightful response.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will atomic swaps replace crypto currency exchanges? on: June 06, 2018, 01:16:47 PM
It's certainly awesome technology as far as trading goes, but I don't think it will kill off exchanges at all. Some people dislike peer-to-peer trading because it's usually less convenient than buying/selling at an exchange. Bitcoin trading, for example, don't necessarily require the use of exchanges anymore because so many people are buying and selling it via platforms like Localbitcoins, but people still seek them anyway.

I'm not sure if it will make trading drastically different as I see it more of a quality of life enhancement (it lets you save escrow fees, exchange fees, and time, etc.) rather than an actual necessity.

Yes you do have a valid point as it beingi a life enhancement which I do agree as well, but what if security concerns overrides this then does it not become more of a necessity?
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will atomic swaps replace crypto currency exchanges? on: June 06, 2018, 12:30:48 PM
Was recently going through a article about atomic swaps which was rather a new and interesting concept for me. I do understand at a macro level of how such a technology could impact the transfer of one cryptocurrency to another without the aid of an exchange but I fail in my understanding how this would render crypto currency exchanges as being obsolete? How will this affect trading activities if this technology takes over and adopted in coming years? Would appreciate if someone with good insight to explain this to me!

For anyone who is not familiar with this concept or a crypto newbie I have tried summarizing the article in my words.

1. Atomic swaps is a concept that claims to allow for the direct, peer-to-peer transfer of cryptocurrencies across different blockchains.

2. Atomic swap has been a concept having its presence for several years though the real implementation or focus of developers to bring it to force is
seen rather recently. The compelling reason for this shift is predominately due to the increased focus on cryptocurrencies which has attracted the
interest of not just the investors but also the interest of hackers as well.

3. Since the advent of cryptocurrencies there have  been quite a few notable crypto currency exchange hacks and as the world moves further with this
industry its no secert that the currently functioning exchanges are under immense threat of holding their customer funds. Basically having money on
exchanges is like giving up custody of your assets to a third party. Atomic swaps seems to be addressing this problem by enabling users to hold their
private keys without relying on others.

4. As per the article atomic swaps currently do happen and that is between different blockchains built on similar code (decred, litecoin & bitcoin-
executed) and swaps between cryptocurrency tokens on the same blockchain with decentralized exchanges such as OX. However cryptocurrencies
running on blockchain with much different code has to have purpose built tools for these atomic swaps to take place.

5. Apparently creating atomic swaps between cross chain platforms are highly complex and some say its not gonna happen in the next few months.

Honestly I really don't know if this is possible at all unless some manupulation of the system if that's ever possible!

I am a newbie n find it hard to receive merit n wish I was in the forum before but when I did see this posts I in all honesty think the merit system indeed is a really good idea so we hear less of what you mention.

If you are going to improve your rank, you need to learn to read the posts in a thread, and to stay on topic. This thread is about activity, and not about merit. You do not need any merit to become a junior member.

Posting about merit makes you appear to be merit obsessive, and this may reduce your chances of gaining merit.

I am sorry Sir if I have seem to have gone off topic and seem to have passed on a message that was really not intended. Sir I am really not obsessed about merits, I in all honestly want to contribute positively to this forum and I strongly believe with time I will move up.

My response mentioned about the merit system as a appreciation for it since it acts as a deterrent in having individuals who post anything just for the purpose of moving up the rank, which was quite apparent from the heading but I do agree it is kind of off topic and wont
happen again.

Thank you for pointing it out and please continue to do so. Helps me learn. Appreciate it.

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in ICOs - is it still worth a short term investment? on: June 05, 2018, 10:01:08 AM
You can blame part of it on the downtrend we are experiencing in the crypto space from the beginning of this year. There seems to be a prolonged lack of confidence after the huge crash and I guess individual investors are weary about bringing in new money unless the institutional investors step in. During the bull run most of my ICO investments were very very valuable.

Also in addition there are too many ICO's out there, and you really need to do your research and figure out what is decent to invest in, when I say decent what I mean is a project which has a strong concept and a real business world use and not similar to any projects currently existing in the crypto space. However say even you find one it is extremely hard coz they seem to have offered most of their tokens to institutional investors and there is a huge rush among community to take part in the crowd-sale. Some ICO's use lottery and other mechanisms when they have too much of a community which is actually quite unfair since they first build the hype and then when that is achieved they look into ways to limit the number of contributors coz what is offered to the public is very low. There were few like this such as Ziliqa, Quarkchain and Zebi, they did a 10/15x pretty easily.

In conclusion yes overall things have changed in the ICO space and that will continue to be the case when crypto attracts more and more people.

33  Other / Beginners & Help / Do we only recieve merit when someone gives it or other ways to earn merit? on: June 04, 2018, 10:44:37 PM
From my understanding the only way to get merit is through members or have I seem to be missing something?
Are there additional ways in which we might receive merit? Maybe by the amount of time we are logged in on the forum, the number of responses we get on our posts despite not getting any merit for it?

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How to find good icos? on: June 04, 2018, 12:02:18 PM
Hi there,

Initially I did think about it in the same way too! Later realized if you do find the right opportunity and act diligently it can really give you good returns.

I would tell you my personal experience, I invested in an ICO last September an amount of 500 USD and received 35000 tokens, in the December 2017 bull run, one token went upto 0.7USD! I was new and I was not much experienced as to what needs to be done and eventually the prices crashed back to real lows. If I did know what needs to be done in a bull market I would have experienced really healthy profits.

So my point is ICO's are super super lucrative but its getting increasingly hard to get in but there is nothing like trying.

The best source to find information about reliable ICO's are www.icodrops.com.

Also listen to reviewers like Ian Balina, OHhey Matty, Crush crypto and Suppoman.

Good luck!
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How educate yourself about crypto? on: June 04, 2018, 11:04:44 AM
Hi there,

Here are the sources I used to get knowledge for my self.

1. To learn in-depth about block chain technology, Bitcoin listen to Andreas Antonopoulos.

2. To know about market capitalization of all crypto currencies go to www.coinmarketcap.com

3. To be updated about reliable ICO's go to www.icodrops.com

4. To be updated about latest market happenings and latest news subscribe to coin-telegraph.

5. Listen to youtubers like Datadash, Sunny Decree, Crypto Daily, Bitcoin fund manager for insight on markets.

6. Listen to Crush crypto, Ian Balina, Ohhey Matty to get reviews on good icos.

7. Last not least the Bitcointalk Forum itself. Plenty and plenty of information.

Hope i Helped
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Growing a Community for an ICO on: June 04, 2018, 10:55:29 AM
Hiring the specific talent for the purpose of marketing is Key!

The following areas are what I actively look into before investing in good credible ICO's, and foremost what I look for is,

1. If its listed on ICO drops, by far the one place where you find reliable ICO's. There are some eligibility criteria to be listed there so obviously it filters out the trash.
2. How much of a online presence they have, this primarily includes Telegram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, Slack & Medium.

3. If your ICO is good enough getting it to be reviewed by one of the top you tubers is by far the best way to bring it to the attention of the public.

4. Last not least a airdrop attracts a lot of people and brings awareness about project as well.

Hope it helps.Good luck
37  Other / Beginners & Help / When do we get negative trust scores on: June 04, 2018, 03:35:24 AM
Guys, there's something called negative and positive trust scores. I see certain signature and airdrop campaigns require a neutral or positive trust score.

Can anyone tell me examples of when I will receive a negative trust score?

Thank you
38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want some Help. on: June 03, 2018, 10:45:53 AM
Hey there,

I will be honest with you when I answer, I did join Bitcointalk forum initially as a result of Airdrops but later when going through the content I realised rather than a few couple of dollars this forum had so much valuable information that's worth so much to me.

I stopped looking at this forum as a tool merely for money n started to read n research more and found it to be tooo interesting. There are ton of rules that we should follow and hard work is involved to move up.

Your question as I came to answer coz I my self as a newbie needed help n did want to help another out but when I saw your question I felt this profile might not have longevity. It seems to me your just intending to use this profile for bounties and want someone else to hand u down the rules, which are in fact clearly written down by forum moderators. All you need is a simple search.

Before anything read the rules and understand the real purpose of this forum. Work, build on it n then use it to make sum profits. Please don't see the forum just a tool to make profits. It's too valuable for that. Enjoy your journey in Bitcointalk.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / What is the best way to contribute to the Bitcointalk forum on: June 03, 2018, 10:30:15 AM
Hello guys!

First I need to say I am  a newbie and like everyone else I have lots to ask.

I love this forum and I am really determined to become a valuable contributor in future. I have researched this topic and what most people say is to work your way up you need to contribute to this forum.

At the outset I understand that the topics we bring up and the responses we give need to be of high quality but I feel this response is more of a broader term and there's more to it.

Can someone give me more insight about this in more detail and is there ways to know the impact of what we post? Do high post views n replies matter?

I have asked questions and posted responses following the set protocols but on two or three occasions it was removed, I was convinced I was contributing but seemingly I have not, so I want to be clear on what is really expected when the forum says, we need to contribute. Thank you.

Welcome to Bitcoin talk!

I am also rather new too...and I would say this forum is just awesome. If anyone is new to crypto and wants to get a hang about stuff there is no other better place than this. The more senior members here have so much knowledge and such good understanding it kind of amazes me why these guys don't even have YouTube channels to start off.

But then again I realise these folk are just pure crypto enthusiastic and not too bothered about gaining celebrity and shilling status and they very much humble about what y know. Love the forum and looking forward to becoming a valuable contributor my self. Good luck to you!
