For upgrade to v 18.0.1

Is the Sentinel upgrade required or will the payment be ok with just updateing dash core/bin without a Sentinel upgrade?

Second is it possible to implement a better PoseBan System...
The issue I have is.. I check each day once on Dash ninja if my mn's are still running.
The Pose jumps form 0 to 2500 in an instant and if it was some hours ago changes are big that in the morning after when I check it accumulated to over 4000 and result into a MN ban.

So it seems a daily Dash Ninja check is not helpfull at all. Would be nice to have a system wher you have at least 48 hourse before a ban or an idication sooner or anything.

I don't read the forum frequent anymore so I will not detect when there is a new version and relay a bit on an early Pose warning system.

Strictly speaking sentinel is not required, your node will not ban if you don't have it. The POSE system could be improved, but it won't be and not in the way you are talking about.  If you are getting frequent bans it is because your node is misbehaving, the general solution to this is re-install the node using the Dash Masternode Zeus (on the forum) and then you wont have to check dash ninja ever again.

The Dash network will fork in about 10 days from now, we've hit a couple key milestones, firstly, we have more than 90% of miners signalling readiness for the DIP24 miner activated hard fork!  Secondly, the SPORK 23 has been activated on mainnet which starts banning nodes that have not yet upgraded, thus we are all systems go to upgrade.

Recently, the developers did a deep dive into what new features are in v18.  You can watch the video here https://youtu.be/qXeT5mV5MJs

MN count now descending smoothly below 4000. "Circulating supply" therefore increasing - as predicted due to massively over-allocated MN rewards that get dumped on markets without any counter-balancing primary market purchase (as is required for mining rewards).

The effect of this is to devalue the MN collateral faster than the rewards can compensate for, rendering a Dash Masternode as a liability rather than an asset. The market has now learned this and is dumping MN in addition to granular Dash.

How to fix this ?

Urgently adjust the protocol in the other direction (the one that should have been taken 2 years ago) and allow markets to bid for the reward directly from the chain rather than issue it at zero price to be dumped straight onto exchanges. This will allow MNs to benefit from capital gain from their collateral as well as a healthy dollar-value income rather than having that income wiped out through capital loss on their collateral.

2 years ago we pushed the protocol beyond the point of diminishing returns for MNs. This must be reversed to restore the network to a state of financial health.

Pure FUD!!  You know better than this and you should be ashamed of yourself!  The network is currently going through an upgrade process and at times like these some masternodes are shutdown for routine service and maintainence, they will be brought back up later and continue to service the network.  Here is a chart of the collateralised masternodes versus the active masternodes, notice that no masternode was decollaterised, sold or otherwise in the past week, while the green line shows active nodes decreasing during this upgrade phase.

Stop with your FUD!  By lying about this you discredit your other arguments and I just have to assume everything you say is lies.

The masternode "community" is who "can actually do something about the problem" and they're going to keep hearing about it - both from me and the free market - until they do.

Nonsense, there is no problem, the coin is doing fine.  Dash bounced strongly right when you and others like you got the most bearish, keep getting it wrong, meanwhile ETH is ditching POW altogether and pumping like mad. It doesn't matter at all how the coins are emitted so long as it is predictable and at reasonable pace.

There was a really interesting twitter space this weekend detailing the upcoming integration of Dash onto the Thorchain DEX.  You can play it back here: https://twitter.com/thorchain/status/1554857187880718338

Breakthrough for Dash's sector - payments. Mainstream getting into crypto.

They are using Bitpay as the payment processor which unfortunately Dash is not on.  We have approached them recently for an integration and were quoted a ball park figure of $100k to get it done, but if enough customers nag them to add Dash, they will add it, they are a business after all and want the revenue stream.

Dash is in deep value here, the strong accumulation of Masternodes continues, you are doing yourself a disservice by being constantly bearish, why not deploy capital and grow your position?

What exactly is "deep value" when it's at home ?

Is that like, say, attributing a "deep buoyancy" quality to the wreck of the Titanic?

There's no "accumulation of masternodes". On top of the marketcap loss we've lost another 80 masternodes since my post of just 30 days ago.

Then: fourTwoTwoFive:

Now: fourOneFourSix:

As usual, you sure do you like to pick and choose your metrics to suit your specific narrative, the collateralised count has increased while the enabled count has decreased due to a ISP upgrade.  A better graph is available on this site.  https://mnowatch.org/dash-stats/?20220615112026

Deep Value refers to your own analysis where the masternodes would be paid a fair rate for their services delivered, I believe you reasoned that was about $30?  So, today when we dropped for a moment to $38, value investors made the most of it and drove the price upwards.  Deep Value is when the USD price is so ludicrously low that the BTC ratio is forced up simply from the ferocious buying on the USD pairs.  Oh you sour puss, you missed it again, Dash is trading at $43 as I post this, up from $38.  Will you be sour again throughout the next cycle?
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: June 15, 2022, 10:42:00 AM

Descending smoothly into the $30 arena.

Free market revaluing masternode rewards to more closely reflect their true monetary contribution to the network. Note that Dash could have done this itself without causing such destructive carnage to the masternode collateral value, simply by adjusting the protocol.

Dash is in deep value here, the strong accumulation of Masternodes continues, you are doing yourself a disservice by being constantly bearish, why not deploy capital and grow your position?
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: June 12, 2022, 02:05:38 PM
On January 1st 2018 Bitcoin was $15,000 and DASH was $1100.  Today June 11'th 2022 Bitcoin is $28,500 and Dash is less than $50.  I might not have gotten out at the top but I was close and I'm sure glad I dumped those MN's when I did.

Anyone that thinks this garbage coin has a future is mistaken.  DASH = GARBAGE

Are you thinking of getting back in?  Why are pessimistic about the future?

Hi guys!

what happened with dash Electrum wallet? I was hold some dash in my dash electrum wallet about a year ago. Recently I can not find the dash electrum wallet in my desktop. Lately I can know that dash electrum is no longer connected. I have the seed phrase. How can I recover my wallet now? Can any expert please help me in this case?

Use the old version of Dash electrum, no need to download updated one.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: May 16, 2022, 05:32:20 AM

That wallet has doubled the number of Dash available in a few months, which means that as the supply for sale increases, there will be more supply of Dash and that will hurt the price. If it were the other way around, the probability of a price rise would increase.

I wouldn't worry too much about that, I generally track the amount of Dash in collateralised masternodes on this page https://mnowatch.org/dash-stats/ and though it is still early days, what I am seeing is some accumulation in Masternodes.  This would equate to a reduction in circulating supply and possibly higher prices in the future.  Let's check back on this chart after one month and see if it is still rising.

Hello! When will the DASH t-shirt be available???
Summer is in the yard, I'm waiting!

Alexey45, someone recently reviewed some apparel from https://www.cryptee.co/  https://old.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/puh6kg/just_arrived_some_dash_branded_apparel_and_mug/ and it looks legit to me. Why not smarten up your wardrobe and cupboard for the summer 2022 and impress your friends!  Cheesy

I'm getting deja vu with this. ok what have we got ? Firo project. Improve tokenomics by spending less on mining. FFS
I'll tell you how it ends. You don't make any waves, you plummet down the rankings. You start irrelevant and that's how it is/

Yeah, I thought you might which is why I posted it, I am still very much for the reallocation and I do think that in time Bitcoin too will break some rules, my prediction is that it will move to a POS consensus and it will abandon the 21 million coin limit and have a trailing inflation rate of for example 1% similar to other shitcoins like `HEX` and Ethereum.  One thing that does seem to be more true is the perception above all else matters the most (to price), not how the coin is emitted or even how quickly it is emitted.  Firo will do well if as a community they are all able to agree on an approach forward, I wish them well and I hope they do good by themselves and the environment.

I'm sorry to be unenthusiastic but we need a masternode coin that goes the other way. with mining something like 80% as ballpark. A precious dash. A scarce dash. Not more cheaply airdropped worthless shit.

Why does dash and every single other proof of work masternode coin not see it? what is the point of having proof of work and then trying to eliminate the work? You need to understand bitcoin before you start getting rid of mining

Yeah, i've faced this issue in my life too, at some point when people keep telling you the same thing over and over again, you have to admit that you are probably wrong and they are right.  You think that just because a coin is mined it is 'hard' and has wrought physical value, but this wrong on a couple of points.

  • 1. The miner may sell that coin at a loss.
  • 2. As the price comes down and miners drop off the network, the difficulty in creating new supply also decreases.

In particular I want to draw your attention to point 2 which does not apply in the mining of physical gold for example, where when the price drops too low for gold, miners simply stop mining and the new supply is quenched.  In Bitcoin and Dash for that matter, when the price drops, the algo just makes it easier to mine, this completely blows your argument of the water that mining gives a coin intrinsic value, it does not.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: April 12, 2022, 06:54:36 AM
The Firo project is looking to follow in Dash's footsteps and improve their tokenomics by spending less on mining and more on value add.

https://forum.firo.org/t/tokenomics-and-funding-division-of-block-reward-discussion-and-community-matching-fund/2061

https://forum.firo.org/t/poll-on-firo-block-reward-division/2150

If they can get this through, the impact on price is potentially bullish as the network's electricity costs would be dramatically decreased and become more environmentally friendly too.  Firo is able to afford this change because similar to Dash they employ ChainLocks which reduces the reliance on Miners for their network security.

The reason the count has been falling and indeed must fall is to protect the income of the existing MNs left in the network

Sure. But the count wasn't supposed to fall in the first place so that's like saying "the reason the Titanic is sinking is because it's got a hole in it". The question is why has it got a hole, not why is it sinking.

If you remember, the objective of firing even more free dash at masternodes was to reduce circulating supply which was the basis for addressing Dash's "store of value problems". Circulating supply (or at least Dash's definition of it) is inversely proportional to masternode count so my view is not simplistic it's just that the measure didn't work. It didn't even work on a competitive basis (see below) so your excuse that other coins experienced the same problem is moot.

The problem is that Dash cannot afford these masternode rewards with the paultry monetary velocity it has of 14k transactions per day. So they have to be paid out of marketcap and go-nowhere pumps that end up crashing below their liftoff point eventually.

All the same I'll add that one to your inventory explanations for your convenience  Wink

Nš 271: All coins lost value
Nš 386: Hashrate's only a measure of carbon footprint
Nš 364: Dash was in a secular downtrend
Nš 210: we had some large elderly whales sell everything recently
Nš 142: Dash performs poorly leading into December
Nš 176: MNs aren't forced to sell, miners are
Nš 481: The instamine
Nš 482: Russia !!!
Nš 501: the count...must fall is to protect the income of the existing MNs

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: March 22, 2022, 11:27:45 AM

You seem to have it all figured out, are you trading it then and making money?  Cool

There's nothing to figure Cheesy

There hasn't been one single pump in the Dash/Satoshi pair in the last 4 years that was sustained. The satoshi price always ended up lower than it started pre-pump.

The only silver lining is that the last two bottoms were fairly close to each other so at least the bottom seems to be flattening. The question is, what happens on the next BTC/$USD revaluation upwards ? Does Dash then lose it on the bitcoin pair and finally drop through the 2 BTC support for 1 masternode ? Or do we start to climb the rankings again ?

What's different this time ?

Anythin ?

P.S. Pure economics perspectives say the former (drop through 2 BTC support) because you have an income generating entity there that's doing absolutely no measurable economic work in comparison to the income generated. However the protocol fixes that reward in Dash terms independently of dollar valuation. So the market's only way to reconcile this is to revalue the MN collateral downwards which is what it's been doing.

This MN reward stuff isn't yet properly thought out and until it is it will continue to have a cancerous effect on growth. Look, even circulating supply (or Dash's own arbitrary made up definition of it) is disastrous. It's gone in the wrong direction. That was the whole basis on which that reward shift was made in the first place. You have to have recourse to the first derivative, as Ryan does, for any solace. ("The rate at which circulating supply is increasing has slowed"  Roll Eyes )

While I do agree the BTC has been a disaster since 2017, I am not of the opinion that trend continues forever given that Bitcoin has hit market saturation and Dash is still a mostly unknown project with greater promise.  I would also like to remind you that other coins share the same chart as Dash in this regard, for example, Ethereum a coin that gets many accolades has never regained its 2017 high and IMO never will.

With the MN chart, you have spotted the trend, but your simplistic and fixated view on the reason has led you astray.  The reason the count has been falling and indeed must fall is to protect the income of the existing MNs left in the network, simply put the MNOs are pricing in the risk of holding Dash and currently that is 6.6%, since each year the reward is shaved by 7% we can expect to see some MNs leave the network to maintain a healthy ROI for the remaining nodes.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: March 21, 2022, 04:53:21 PM

Even better!  I see we are almost back to 3 Bitcoins for a Masternode, the direction is right at least, number still more than 3x too low.

Dash pumps typically start off looking like this and end up looking like that because there's so much unearned profit to realise from excessive masternode rewards that it acts as a deadweight to any spontaneous growth. Is this going to be any different and represent any long term growth or is it just another exit pump ?

You seem to have it all figured out, are you trading it then and making money?  Cool

Dash manoeuvring.

Yeah saw that.  We spent a long time trying to breakdown at $100, I guess this was the only way.  Undecided

It's also manoeuvring on the raiche.
