21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 30, 2014, 12:06:14 AM
You mean the S2 black button?  I tried that for 20 seconds & it didn't work.  I don't think it actually reset it.  Ethernet light flicks on 2 or 3 times and then dies altogether.  The cord is good, I tested it.  I did IP scan however and it did not show up so I'm not sure.
22  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 29, 2014, 10:45:50 PM
I have 2 Antminer S1's and I set one to its own IP address, and the new one I just got I let it stay at 99 like the factory setting default.  But when I put it online via ethernet cable to my DSL router, it hangs on the black sign-in screen and won't let me sign in.  Why does that occur?  I was changing settings I think in the WAN/WWAN part and I think I  did something wrong and hit save and it applied it and now I don't know what I did.  Any help appreciated!  Smiley
23  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S1 question... on: March 27, 2014, 05:57:41 PM
I have 1 Bitmain Antminer S1 hooked up to my ethernet router, just regular DSL.  I have a second Antminer S1 in the other room but it has the same IP address sticker on it.  When I tried to put them both online simultaneously, my router was confusing them both.  Anyone know how I can manage to have both on the same LAN?  How do I change the permanent IP address on the second Antminer, is that possible?  Any ideas or experience much appreciated!  Smiley
24  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Is Property Not Currency on: March 26, 2014, 08:58:08 AM
I agree with Dissonance and Holliday....   I saw the NYT article last night and have been reading posts here.  It is shocking what some people have said haha.  But yeah I have no problem paying taxes on money I earn mining.  I can easily export my wallet right there from inside the wallet into a CSV file so I don't see the problem with tracking dates.  And I think it's also good for Bitcoin.  I have been worried my credit union will eventually say, what are all these deposits?  We've all been wondering that I'm sure and I am glad it's going to be implemented into the ecosystem and I can mine for a living now and relax Smiley

What is the answer to this question, anyone know?  I want to know.

There is nothing about what Tony said that would make me think he "wants people to give him money."   Who is running this forum?Huh?   I think that is the problem here.

The only way to learn about Bitcoin is to learn on your own, and read all you can, and slowly get the equipment for mining you need if that's what you want to do.  But as far as asking questions on here or advice, you are going to get hammered, don't say I didn't warn you.
28  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie saying hi and asking for some help :) on: March 25, 2014, 04:39:25 PM
I wouldn't listen to any of these people.   I say from experience, learn on your own and don't post here anymore or ask questions.  Nobody will help you, they will just sling insults at you.  I've been experiencing this for weeks on end now, with no help, and lots of aggravation.  Just my 2 cents Smiley

By the way, I can google things, in fact I said as much in my first post.

I have never seen so much open hostility and negativity towards people as I have towards newbies on this forum who came to ask legitimate, sincere questions.   These replies are a perfect example!  I will not be coming back here for any information.

30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New motherboard but lost... on: March 25, 2014, 04:29:03 PM
Yes I'm aware of that.  I've read the manual, not a blubbering idiot here.   Thanks for the info.

Then  how would I learn??  That's absurd.
32  Other / Beginners & Help / New motherboard but lost... on: March 25, 2014, 01:47:48 PM
I got an ASRock 970 Extreme 4.  I have 2 Radeon cards that I've already got installed on the PCI-E slots.  This is my first motherboard experience.  I have a Corsair RM850 PSU which I think is fine to handle those 2 cards and the motherboard.  Is there an install guide or something online (I can't find one) that will tell a newbie what needs to be plugged in where?  I installed the CPU already too with thermal paste & that's ready to go.  I just need to know what else needs to be plugged in to make it work?  My 600watt PSU has cords built-in, but this RM850 PSU has only cords that snap into the box and it's not clear to me what needs to be plugged in where on that PSU. I went to ASRock site's support stuff and even googled this and I'm at a loss.  I think maybe I'm not finding the right page and probably someone here has one? Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Hey IYFTech: what is latency and how can I use the getwork protocol with solo mining, do you know?  Also, I installed a fresh Xubuntu 12 to use my Radeon HD 8770 and it always locks up on me after using the GPU a few minutes.  Have you had that happen on Xubuntu?  About the wallet though, I'm on Win 8 and so far no problems at all.
34  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin-qt "core" on: March 24, 2014, 11:22:05 AM
If I understand you correctly, that is what I did, I removed everything except wallet.dat and peers.dat and let it re-download everything with the new version.  But remember I had both installed simultaneously and then inadvertently pulled up the older version and it gave error messages so I don't know if my situation is exactly like yours.
35  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin-qt "core" on: March 22, 2014, 11:33:57 PM
Oh, I must have missed that, I didn't see where it said to uninstall 0.8.6.   It is working fine now.
36  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin-qt "core" on: March 22, 2014, 08:20:04 PM
I just installed the new 0.9.0 Bitcoin Core myself, and I had an older 0.8.6 wallet on Windows 7.  I didn't uninstall the old one, and the new one started up fine.  But when I accidentally started up the old one later, it caused definite problems.  I had to delete everything from appdata/roaming except the wallet & peers file & let it redownload the blockchain.  However, it threw another error at me as it was getting the blockchain about not being able to read the wallet file, so I don't know what I've done.  I was hoping the new software would have the ability to detect the older version!!!  Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, seeing it is a wallet with money in it.  We need clear instructions on the bitcoin site about upgrading do's and dont's in my opinion, or lots of people will be posting about the issues, I can see it coming.  Smiley
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU miner & Primecoin delay on: March 18, 2014, 05:24:33 AM
I was mining using Simple CPU Miner, and it has a pool in the app itself of 162.243.204.218:8336. No idea what that is.   I have mined in 2 different pools -- never get anything.  An "06" share is like the 07, 08 or 09 shares, it's just the value of any particular share worked on in PrimeCoin I guess.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / CPU miner & Primecoin delay on: March 15, 2014, 01:57:38 AM
I've been mining Primecoin using my CPU miner for days now and I've gotten many of the 06 shares, but I've never received a thing in my wallet yet.  Why would that be?  I know it takes 3200 confirmations but it's been days & days and still nothing.  My address is correct  -- any insights would be much appreciated Smiley
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stumped on Mining, a newbie on: February 24, 2014, 09:06:32 PM
Thanks Four Rings.  That does help!  I will try out the one card on a computer I have.  I see all these videos of people making rigs, and I don't need a complicated setup, just something simple at first so I know what I'm doing.  Oh, I do ignore people like that above.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stumped on Mining, a newbie on: February 24, 2014, 11:46:09 AM
What is a mobo?  I was just going to use one card at first, and maybe add the second.  I thought that would be sufficient with the power supply I have?  Thanks for the reply.   I already knew about GUIMiner-Scrypt.  I am just curious why can't I use an old computer I have to do the mining?  I have a few Dells with Intel processors and a couple of AMD processors in newer computers.
