21  Economy / Economics / Re: Silver is loosing ground due to rise of cryptocurrencies on: September 04, 2018, 04:31:15 AM
An odd comparison, and hard to quantify. Are the same people who look to invest in cryptos looking to invest in silver? I wouldn't have thought so - pretty different commodities!
22  Economy / Economics / Re: Wise thing to do with your savings. on: September 04, 2018, 04:27:32 AM
Diversify your finance. It's nice to have several different 'emergency' or investment accounts.

These could include:

- Savings account(s)
- Raiz/other finance roundup app
- Crypto
- shares
- gold/silver
- Piggy bank

None of them may appear particularly impressive but when added together it can look commanding - plus it's nice to have some safety nets.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to save my coins and tokens? on: September 04, 2018, 04:20:31 AM
Buy a Ledger Nano, transfer it all onto there, then lock it somewhere safe that only you have access to. Alternatively, do it with a paper wallet and lock the private key in the safe.

I prefer the former, they sell for around 70 euros and it's nice having something physical

24  Economy / Economics / Re: So many cryptocurrencies ! on: September 04, 2018, 04:01:33 AM
Unfortunately in such a juvenile industry you have to expect people to come in trying to capitalise off people's naivety.

You only need to go through Telegram groups to see basic scammers, youtube reviews with comments and likes from clearly fake profiles, corrupt ICO bench 'experts' - unfortunately this industry is riddled with them. That is partly because of the anonymity and lack of governing body that crypto seems to bring with it.

Even here we've seen hundreds of hundreds of comments on here that no one bar the mods will read, as the majority of people just want to get their activity up here so they can have more visibility/credibility in this forum.

I don't think the responsibility is on the governments and exchanges to save us from shitcoins. That is our own responsibility. If you get an email from the Prince of Nigeria asking for money and you send it, no one in the government is gonna have your back there! The best thing regulatory bodies can do is cooperate more with organisations in the crypto sphere and help with the education side of things. But they don't want to do that as they don't have enough control/influence as of yet!

Interesting catch 22, who knows who will win out?
25  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin volume is still rising ? on: September 04, 2018, 03:31:24 AM
Gotta love Bitcoin price speculation. I love hearing everybody's theories.

A guy in my office today (who really knows his stuff) said he expects it to bounce between 5500-7500 for the next month, with a gentle bull run starting in October.

BTC to the crypto market is like Batman to Gotham. It can be both the hero and the villain. But ultimately, if we let it, it will become the former. There has been some funny activity behind BTC all year, it's a shame it has been so manipulated. Hopefully it breaks to higher prices in 2019 where manipulation will not be so easy.
26  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: September 04, 2018, 03:23:19 AM
Oh, to have been involved in Bitcoin back when having 10-20 BTC didn't put you in the top 1% already!

Great explanation of inflation and deflation, shame I am five years late!
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO scammers, Sell your uploaded KYC ID documents, adress for a lot of money. on: September 04, 2018, 03:21:03 AM
Even ICOs need to be careful who they partner with for KYC purposes.

We came across a third party who offered their services for KYC and AML, before discovering they had been accused recently been accused of blackmailing another ICO. More can be read about it here - https://officialtedblog.com/tokenget-blockchainmob-mobilink-coin/

Bottom line is you must to be careful when sharing any kind of sensitive information with any third party. Your ID is more valuable than your private key. Too much personal information about us is currently online - don't put any more on there than is absolutely necessary. Especially for an airdrop!

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How to trade wisely on: August 27, 2018, 06:11:43 AM
Don't be greedy! Take nominal profits and don't wait for the reversal/correction! The losses come a lot more quickly than the gains!
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Verge: calm before the storm? on: August 22, 2018, 02:18:52 AM
I know a lot of people who have lost a lot of money on this coin. I'm glad I got out while the going was good. However people's who TA i trusted called for another pump right before it completely exploded in on itself.

Much better privacy coins in the market methinks.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What about rest of the Cryptos? on: August 22, 2018, 02:01:54 AM
The big question is... how long could it all possibly go?? How low will these "institutional buyers" push BTC? I've heard 5k, 4.5k, 3.5... and even as low as a grand!!

Even when it's a bear market BTC is always an excitement machine
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 6 reasons why future ICOs will use Byteball instead of Ethereum (+screenshots) on: August 22, 2018, 01:55:35 AM
Yeah, it's been said before, but it's all branding right now. Ethereum is top of the tree but that doesn't mean there isn't room for competition! Personally I believe Byteball has a massive future, along with ADA, NEO and ETH.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forget the past and move ahead on: August 22, 2018, 01:54:14 AM
Remember that famous line in the Ice Cube film, Friday.

"Smokey, when you play with my money you play with my emotions!"

This is SO TRUE, and why so many people are reluctant to get into this new financial realm. They are reluctant to try and understand it, however simply it can be explained, and even more reluctant to have their traditional notion of money challenged.

I believe this is similar to people discrediting some conspiracy theories as they challenge what they believe (or want) to be true, no matter the questions or evidence they may raise.

I have seen a number of friends go vegan recently where other friends have had aggressive reactions towards them. Why? What's it to you how someone else lives their life? Well again, this is a challenge to what they eat, which is very EMOTIONAL.

We all like to believe that it is right/normal to eat factory farmed meat, normal to let banks control all our money and normal to believe that "democratically" elected officials should make all of our decisions for us.

The humans 100 years from now will be looking at how we lived our lives in disbelief!

HODL and back yourself. Remove yourself from the emotion and look forward!
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Question for ICOs - most successful types of bounty campaigns on BitcoinTalk? on: August 22, 2018, 01:48:00 AM
Hey everyone,

Just wanted to get some feedback on bounties run on here and what ought to be included?

I've seen bounties from as simple as follow us on Twitter for tokens to

- create an ANN thread for us
- write a blog
- do a video
- many more, sorry can't list them all now

I've been contacted by a number of third party organisations who want to run a BitcoinTalk bounty on our behalf, and I was wondering if anyone had used a third party on here and had any recommendations.

We are primarily interested in growing our footprint in the crypto community. As a 'reverse-ICO', we are an existing network of online gaming platforms with options for sports betting, casino games, eSports and fantasy sports. We have nearly one million users currently in 70 different countries. Our token will provide a great introduction to crypto for our user base via our integrated wallet and exchange, where users will be able to convert their winnings in PlayChips to fiat or other cryptocurrencies at the touch of a button. For the uninitiated in crypto, of which many of our community are, this will be massive. We have already generated huge amounts of interest for newbies to crypto, we are now trying to raise our profile within the crypto community, primarily through BitcoinTalk.

Any recommendations/experiences on how best to do this would be much appreciated. I believe we're at newbie level soon but will complete a bit more activity today and hopefully get to Jnr Member so we can start posting photos etc.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why can not I trust ICO-ratings? on: August 22, 2018, 01:35:58 AM
And I do agree with previous comments that doing one's own DD is a MUST!

While there are definitely well-informed people in crypto and have a good idea of marketing, TA and actual blockchain knowledge, the truth is that no one KNOWS what is going to happen in this market, that's why it's rather exciting.

I recommend picking projects with genuine use case and have a personal appeal to you. Verify their staff so you know they are genuine (easy in the case of reverse-ICOs such as the PlayChip! www.playchip.global) and put some money in, and forget about it for a couple of years.

In a couple of years time the genuine ICOs of today will be thriving - you just have to know how to pick them
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why can not I trust ICO-ratings? on: August 22, 2018, 01:33:40 AM
In our experience we had felt ICO Bench to be one of the more trustworthy sites, namely as it is free to list there.

However, we learned early on that things weren't quite as they seem. When contacting ICO Bench, they encouraged us to purchase the premium packages to make our project more 'visible' to experts, but that experts rated projects independently and in their own time.

In the meantime we received many offers to get positive expert ratings from third party marketers via Telegram.

Well, after checking the reviews of some of our competitors it soon became clear that something was up. Competitors with inferior products to us were receiving 5/5/5 with no comment whatsoever. We then received a negative review from a leading ICO 'expert' criticising us for very small elements and other things that were clearly available on our token offering document and our ICO home page. He had clearly not viewed either before leaving his rating, and had granted 5/5/5 reviews to our competitors without comment.

Obviously there is no way of knowing what exactly has gone on here, but it is a good indication of how this industry works in these still early stages.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PlayChip ICO Discussion on: August 22, 2018, 01:26:53 AM
Thanks everyone for your comments. We are busy trying to get our member level up on BitcoinTalk to deliver a proper ANN thread with pictures!

Appreciate the feedback - we will be releasing an exciting bounty soon!
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Invest in ICO or buy BTC? on: August 17, 2018, 03:09:11 AM
What did you end up doing?

Bitcoin is always a safe bet if you are willing to wait long term. ICOs require more research and due diligence.

Look for existing use cases and positive reviews on sites like ICO Bench, such as the below!

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How to make a decision to buy coin with this market situation? on: August 17, 2018, 03:06:41 AM
Hi Gembel - there's a 20% bonus on the PlayChip until the end of this month!

The PlayChip is set to become the universal token for sports betting, gaming, fantasy sports, and eSports in an operating business with over 900,000 players on seven platforms in 70 countries.

PlayChip’s mission is to deliver the world’s biggest incentivised, blockchain-enabled sports community and gaming ecosystem.

The PlayChip is set to disrupt the US$3 trillion unregulated gambling industry by providing unparalleled trust and transparency, ease of use, lower fees, and provably fair betting environments. The introduction of the blockchain will see the PlayChip offer a superior experience to traditional sports betting systems.

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS), eSports, and online gambling are flourishing industries. The DFS industry enjoys a steady US$4bn annual turnover while global online gambling turnovers are forecasted to exceed US$59bn in 2020. Global gambling turnovers are estimated to be as high as US$3 trillion in unregulated markets.

Tokens with genuine use cases and utility value are the most likely to thrive in the next few years as the world comes to grips with crypto adoption. With 900,000 users in 70 different nations and seven live platforms, there will definitely be an existing demand for the PlayChip follow its launch.

40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto gains without trading on exchanges on: August 17, 2018, 03:02:25 AM
HODL, HODL, HODL

Trading is very emotionally and mentally draining, and not for everybody. Greed and ego can get in the way!

A lot of poker players seem to make good traders as they can assess odds and mentally cope with big gains and losses.

For some it may be better to pick and stick with projects you believe in, throw it on a cold wallet and lock it away for a few years and hope for the best! We all believe in this market and it should work out in the long run
