21  Bitcoin / Project Development / UBIC onchain currency exchange on: May 07, 2020, 01:06:09 PM
UBIC is a blockchain where people receive coins every block once they have scanned the NFC chip contained within their passport.
Every country has it's own currency, so there has already been quite a lot of OTC trading between the currencies of each countries.
In the white paper it was proposed to do those onchain, and it seems easy to implement:
https://github.com/UBIC-repo/Whitepaper#onchain-currency-exchange

Is some one interested in building some thing like that?

The only real options to make a passive income are UBIC and IDENA. No need to spend a single dime to join.

Finding ASIC, FPGA and GPU resistant hashing algorithms to perform a more equitable proof-of-work that would even let Smartphones participate on an equal level with computers has been a long term problem and so far there are no good solutions to it.
I myself didn’t believed there could be a solution until very recently when I got an epiphany while working with the “active authentication” feature of the passport.
Let me explain, biometric passports have been equipped with an NFC chip since their introduction 15 years ago.
Many of these passports have a feature called “active authentication” that verifies if the NFC chip has been cloned or not.
To do so the verification terminal sends a challenge to the NFC chip, a private key contained in the chip then signs the challenge and returns the signature.
It is also noteworthy that the NFC chip’s private key cannot be extracted from it, at least not easily and that it’s public key is signed by a Document Signing Certificate from the government.
So how could this help with POW?
Well, signing a challenge with a private key is similar to using sha256 or any other hashing algorithm in the sense that it will create an unpredictable and unique output for any provided input.
In this scenario passports would try to mine a block by signing it, until they find a signature that matches a certain difficulty requirement just like it is the case with the classical POW.
It is to assume that passport chips are similar enough so that they would provide a similar signing rate per second. Making it probably the most egalitarian POW mechanism that could exist.

What do you think?

Qtrade.io is a good exchange, they list many good projects. I used them for my DNA coins.

Please make sure you only download the mobile wallets from reputable sources such as the Play Store or the App Store

UBIC that is using a "proof of passport" is also taking off. It has over 1,400 members already.
Stats: https://ubic.network

I've heard of UBIC, but 1,400 members, do you know largely where they are from? I've heard also that if Trump's stimulus package comes true and everyone gets 2k usd a month for 6 months, they might start considering a form of UBI after that, for much lower but enough to have people survive basic means. Wish my country were like that, even though I know it's bad for fiat (but maybe if they did a form of crypto?).
You can see where they are from on this website https://ubic.network
Mostly China.

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Idena is the first Proof-of-Person Blockchain on: April 19, 2020, 12:04:00 AM
Idena isn't a good platform for scammers because of everyone has one and unique account. A lot of people trying to sell invites in telegram, new users should be aware of them. It's easy to get an invite by joining their discord channel, just with prooving that you're able to make good flips.
There are just too few invites available. The invitation scarcity is a real problem.

How to restore the wallet by importing the private key in the Android wallet.
It is a work in progress. probably available next week.

Thanks for mentioning this!
I'll adjust the OP tomorrow, sorry for the late reply.

There is a new version of the UBIC Wallet android app available. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=network.ubic.ubic&hl=de
Do not install it from the play store if you are using F-Droid. I'll trigger the F-Droid update later.

Of course, make sure you have a backup your private keys.

Unfortunately the release of the UBIC wallet on the iOS App Store failed because a company account is required to publish cryptocurrency related apps.
I am working on a solution.
