21  Economy / Speculation / Re: Its been $800 for a reeeeeallly long time..... on: February 06, 2014, 07:21:00 AM
Bitcoin is crashing now, at 2:30 AM EST (USA) it's just dropped to USD $770. HODL or sell?
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 6 simple steps to get rich quick with Altcoins on: February 06, 2014, 01:41:58 AM
Wouldn't the cloud miners be a lot more profitable for just the CPUminer coins rather than DOGE, even if any of them are actually profitable anymore?

Cool, birthplace of Vincent Price. Maybe with these altcoins, each state can have its own currency just like in the colonial days. I'm from PA.

None have been mined yet, but the launch is scheduled again for 17:30 Thursday (GMT), so check back then.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogechain : Not Redeemed yet : What does it mean? on: February 06, 2014, 01:27:44 AM
I had the same thing happen when I send DOGE to Crypsty. It said "not redeemed" for 24 hours, and then finally they did put them through for me. It's on the receiver's end.
26  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why are BTC prices not moving ? on: February 06, 2014, 12:45:39 AM
Is there a profit to be made selling them to local folks in person via localbitcoin, and then just buying more on coinbase? That would make sense too for a slow but sure income, since you can set your own price. If people actually would pay your rate and think they would gain by it in the long run.

3,191,424,356 (+21.74%)
Adjust time:    After 1906 Blocks, About 12.3 days

This is what bitcoinwisdom is saying right now... no more ROI on many of the miners out there except the biggest.
28  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How much can I mine with 1Gh ? on: February 06, 2014, 12:26:04 AM
About 16.3 cents a day (USD) with 1 GHs, and dropping by about 20% now every 12 days or so.

Can sha256 ASICs handle the sha3 ?

No, and it's also immune from the upcoming ASIC miners for Litecoin, etc.

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin: should i buy more?? on: February 04, 2014, 01:03:23 AM
So after halving, if the price doesn't go up significantly, we will only be able to mine half as much with the same GPU power? This could definitely affect a lot of miners willing to mine DOGE.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How high will Dogecoin get? DOGE on: February 04, 2014, 12:58:38 AM
The price of ASIC's which still can ROI to mine Bitcoins are getting too high for most newbies to get into the field. Even basic GPU rigs for coins like DOGE seem much more realistic an approach, and though they may take a few months to ROI, it's still appearing to be a lot less risk and expense for the investment involved. Then there's also the opportunity to make money trading them as well, and the ever-present potential for the value to go up quite a bit, while Bitcoins right now seem to have been too stable and even too stagnant.
33  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Block Erupter Cube worth it at .5 BTC now? on: February 04, 2014, 12:29:43 AM
Mine cost me $979 about 5 weeks ago, probably didn't even mine $500 USD since then till now, as the diff keeps going up. Now it's only mining at a rate of $216/month at 37 GHs (high speed), and tomorrow night the diff goes up about 20% and then it will only be mining at about $172/mo., but the diff is going up about 20% every 10 days, so in another 10 days it will only be at around $138/mo., and it keeps getting worse. They are only going for around $379 on Ebay now, I wonder if the price will hold there or if they will be worth crap in another 3-4 weeks. In another words, do I get more ROI by selling now, or giving it another month?

Just saw for a bit earlier that EAC was briefly ahead of DOGE in mining peofit, but then it dropped again. I've been using coinex lately for trading. If people didn't just come in and dump for the going rate, but instead looked at the trends, and then held out for a higher price, there wouldn't be all these cheap sells, and people would have to pay a higher price if they wanted to invest. They undercut us by just dumping.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Address you send money too does not exist. on: January 31, 2014, 08:50:51 PM
If bitcoin addresses have a checksum, like a UPC barcode, there must be a way to be able to generate one if you have a computer script to do that. For example 1 in every 2 to the nth power would be valid. If someone sends to one of these by accident, and the address is one that had never been used before on the blockchain, could a new user potentially have a surprise in finding something in his wallet when creating a new wallet?

37  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Solution to BTC rising diff - Create more SHA256 Alts? on: January 30, 2014, 10:33:49 PM
It seems to me that the mining "market" equalizes. Looking at coinwarz, all the other SHA256 altcoins are hovering at about a similar level (or less than BTC) in the amount you can mine a day with the same ASIC hardware. I guess if one stood out as being more profitable, people would jump in and raise the diff to compensate. There was a brief time a couple weeks ago when Peercoin was in the lead, so I switched from BTC to that, but when it was no longer so, I went back to BTC.

I hope this will drive the price up again soon.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Dogecoin Hit $2 ? on: January 30, 2014, 12:53:25 AM
Looks like DOGE is rising solidly again tonight, up to $0.0015 USD - I have over $150 worth. I you were me, would you sell them (for BTC) if this new peak hits a top point vs BTC in the next hours or day(s), or keep holding for bigger and better times? I'm debating whether holding them will be better in the long run than holding BTC in the long run, as Bitcoin seems stagnant lately. I'm mining over 15k DOGE's a day, as it's usually at the top spot on coinwarz.

I finally got verified there, it took almost a month but it happened. Smiley I don't plan to use it though until their payout problems are fixed.
