21  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will have a price of $50000 on: April 12, 2018, 01:46:22 AM
I would be very careful using anything online to determine the price of BTC.

Most of the price predictions are just guesses with no supporting information to support the price level.

Assuming circulations stays around 17M, the market value of BTC would need to be around $850B for a $50k price.

Unless there is signifcant adoption by major retailers or government its hard to justify that valuation.  The other option is as a sort of safe harbor assuming there is some sort of really bad economic event in the future.  This might cause BTC to increase drastically but it wouldn't be based off of the usage of BTC

22  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-03] Founders of a cryptocurrency backed by Floyd Mayweather charged on: April 06, 2018, 01:24:55 AM
I think that celebrities need to be careful about endorsing companies in this space due to this very issue.

The one thing that is a red flag to me is the crypto backed credit card.

I've seen a number of scams make this same promise but if its hard to get a BTC backed card due to the volatility much less one backed by an alt coin.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My bounty experience! on: April 05, 2018, 10:48:42 PM
That's a great result!  I think that it's important to select projects that you believe in and that you feel have a good chance of success.

In my experience, this makes it easier to hold the investment if you believe in the project and the team.

My simple advice is to only join bounties in which you would invest your funds.

Personally, I'm involved with the Social Wallet and Alt.Estate bounties through Bounty Hive

24  Economy / Economics / Re: Can a deflationary currency reliably be used for wages? on: April 05, 2018, 02:58:46 AM
To answer your question, a deflationary currency can be used for wages.  For ease, I'm assuming that you mean BTC.

This would work in much the same way as current wages.  You would receive an equivalent amount of currency based off of your wages.  This amount would vary based off of the market value of BTC at the time paid.  Some periods you would receive more BTC some periods less.  This would function largely the same as dollar cost averaging in investing.

I've seen a lot of commentators discussing inflationary and deflationary environments and I wanted to make some points here.

Inflation and Deflation have to do with prices.  With Inflation market prices increases and with deflation market prices decrease.

Typically, wages are a factor in inflation since they represent the larges expenses for any business.  Wages are dependant on market forces, primarily supply and demand of labor.  If more people can do a task the less wages the employer pays.  The more specialized the skills, the more wages the employer pays.

Usually, annual wage increases barely keep up with 'CPI' inflation much less the real inflation rate.

Deflation is really ugly since it causes prices to decrease (usually due to a large loss of labor due to automation, retirement, etc) which causes employer revenue to decrease and the employer typically responds by reducing headcount.  This causes more deflation since consumers have less money to spend and creates a vicious cycle in the economy.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON Millionaire on: April 04, 2018, 01:41:31 AM
There is a 0% chance for Tron to be worth $10/coin.

For a $10 price, TRON would need a market cap of about $700B which is highly unlikely

Market cap is price times supply.  Currently, there are 65B+ TRON in circulation with a maximum of 100B

Make sure to look at the market cap when evaluating coins and don't just look at the price.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee reveals he charges $105,000 per promotional cryptocurrency tweet on: April 04, 2018, 01:28:38 AM
This isn't any different than any other celebrity charging for their endorsement.

McAfee understands that his tweets move the market so its understandable that he would charge.  Granted we can debate the ethics of this but he has every right to charge.

Unless someone can provide proof that McAfee and his associates purchase the coins in question prior to his tweets then you can't allege a pump and dump scheme (or at least he isn't involved)

Overall, there's a lot of money moving around this space and its only fitting that McAfee would want a piece of the action here.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Centra Founders Arrested on: April 04, 2018, 01:09:26 AM
Yes, sell this one if you are holding it.  Generally when the founders of the company are arrested it is a bad sign.

Agree with other posters that celebrity endorsers take a big reputational risk by backing crypto ICOs.

There is also a legal risk if they are selling an unlicensed security.

As it stands now there isn't a reason for a company not to go through the SEC process here.  Companies in this space just need to bite the bullet and hire a lawyer to abide by SEC regulations when doing an ICO since nothing justifies doing 3-5 for securities fraud.  The SEC is clear that these are all securities so it doesn't make any sense not to do this the right way.

It's a big red flag when companies say they aren't subject to the SEC.  The founders of this company also have had legal trouble in the past.  This is a bad deal for all parties involved but the red flags were waving vigorously with this one and people chose to ignore it.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest or bounty? on: April 02, 2018, 11:07:03 PM
I would make a observation that you should only join a bounty if you are willing to invest in the underlying project. That doesn't mean that you actually need to invest in the project but just that you would be willing to based off of the project and the team in place.

It doesn't make sense to join a bounty just to get the reward.

Remember, you risk your reputation by supporting a bad project.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Risky move ? on: April 02, 2018, 11:04:44 PM
Just curious why you are asking us if the move is risky after you already made the move?

Seems would be best to ask the question prior to moving all your investments into one coins.  I agree with other commenters that putting all your eggs in one basket is a bad idea.  The only exception to this would be a business or investment that you directly control rather than one controlled by others.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Oyster Pearl just scammed us on: April 02, 2018, 10:37:51 PM
I've been on the receiving end of an exit scam so I understand what you are going through.

I think the main thing is to avoid anonymous teams.  There isn't a good reason to have an anonymous team since it greatly increases the risk of an exit scam or other shady behavior.

Basically, the team is trying to say that they know they are breaking the law and want to avoid getting caught.  I've made this mistake once and won't make it again.
31  Economy / Economics / Re: The best way to manage free money on: April 01, 2018, 10:51:14 PM
The best answer depends on what your investment goals are.  Do you plan on needing the money soon or is this a long term investment?  If you already have money in savings, there's no point in putting more in since the return is basically zero.

If you do not wish to invest in crypto the other options are out since they are all plays on the crypto market.

Property is good but you need to distinguish between single family, multi-family, etc.  Multi-family investments (i.e. Apartments) are great because they allow you to make income as well as have your tenants pay off mortgage.  The investment amounts needed are larger than other investments and typically require you to get a loan for the remainder.

You can also see about becoming a 'private lender' in this space as well.  This will allow you to partner with a local investor needing funds which will allow you to leverage their experience and connections.

Typically, the return is 8-10% but you can specify what return you are willing to accept.  As with all investments, you need to research the property and investor to see if you feel comfortable with making the investment.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Holding is bullshit? on: March 30, 2018, 11:19:35 PM
The best thing to do is not make blanket assumptions.  There is no guarantee in any type of investing that the price will go up.

Why did you buy these coins?  Is this reason still valid?  Is the Dev team still committed to the success of the project?

If you have no idea why you bought a coin then you are relying on luck which is in short supply in this market.

if you no longer believe in the project, sell the coins and make sure to properly research any further investments.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is bountyhive suspicious to you? on: March 30, 2018, 11:14:08 PM
Currently, I am participating in 2 Bounty Hive campaigns and like the platform so far.

I can appreciate what you are saying regarding not being able to verify your entries until the end.

There is obviously a potential here for the company to 'scam' people by not paying however that doesn't seem to be the case.

There has been a large amount of coins paid out as several people have indicated in prior posts.

Second, the company needs more participants in order to attract more ICOs to list there.

Yes, Bounty hive receives coins for running the bounty campaign but it doesn't suit them to rip off their 'hunters' since they are the ones raising awareness online for the ICO campaigns.

It's important to note that if bounty hive has over 20K 'hunters' that new campaigns will fill up quickly. My guess is that the majority of these people fall in the bottom tiers which makes payouts lower.  This is not evidence of a 'scam' but basic math.

I would like it if Bounty Hive provided a breakdown of the total number of people in each tier so we can calculate our own results at the end of the campaigns to see if its worth it to participate.  I think that everyone should seek to increase their FB friends, Twitter followers, etc before the campaign ends so they hit the higher tier and increase their payout.

It's also a good idea to track your participation until Bounty Hive provides a spreadsheet during the campaigns.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First time to experience bear market in crypto getting worried my portfolio on: March 30, 2018, 10:52:50 PM
I would focus on other matters for the next month or so Smiley

The market is highly volatile now so it's going to cause some motion sickness if you watch it too closely.

Personally, my ALT portfolio seems to be holding up fairly well even though BTC has taken a bit of a hit.

I have a couple of high quality ICOs that I'm participating in so I'm not fixating on the BTC price.

Look for real projects with solid teams.  Once we start to see some successes on this front, the market will recover.
35  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will have a price of $50000 on: March 29, 2018, 11:51:54 PM
Strangely, no one has mentioned the fact that for BTC to be worth 50K would require the market value to increase to $850B  ($50K Price * 17,000,000 BTC available)

The market value is currently about $122B

How this happens is anyone's guess.  Either a significant economic collapse or a substantial increase in BTC volume would need to occur for the price to increase to $50K.

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: hold or sell? help me on: March 29, 2018, 05:59:02 PM
I would recommend holding your investments.  I'm assuming that these investments are projects that you support and believe in.

Most of the market is down right now so it makes no sense to sell.  If you need funds, I would suggest alternative means to obtain the funds (work other job, sell things, etc).  It's likely that in 6 months the market will be drastically different so you will be happy that you didn't sell.

Also, treat this down market as an opportunity to buy high quality coins on sale. I've always found it strange how we are happy to buy clothing that is 50% off but freak out when investments go down in value.

In a perfect world, you would have sold in the peak in December and would be buying now.  Unfortunately, we can't go back but we can act now so start hunting for deals Smiley

37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have received the token and I am confused to sell it? What do you think on: March 29, 2018, 05:24:50 PM
This depends on your situation.  There are two main questions here:  do you believe in the project and do you need the funds?

If you believe in the project long term then I would hold for 6 months to a year to realize the value.  Investments are long term.

If you need the money than that is a different matter however if you expect the investment to increase a lot in value its better to try to raise the money another way.

One piece of advice is before participating in any bounty program or investment is to make sure you believe in the project so you aren't tempted to see it.  There were a lot of people who bought BTC at $200, $1000, etc that wish they held but didn't for various reasons.  Make sure this doesn't happen to you.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good Bounties & Bounty Manager for Newbies to follow on: March 29, 2018, 04:43:40 PM
Thanks for posting this list.  It's important to know and understand who is reliable in this space and who is not.
Will save this list for future reference. Personally, I'm working on a couple of campaigns on Bounty Hive which I like so far.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trying to get referrals, how do you do it? on: March 29, 2018, 02:38:20 AM
For a simple sign up type referral, its best to use a PTC site.

Personally, I use AdBtc since it has been pretty effective for me.

Getting referrals is really just a matter of getting your ad in front of a large number of people.

Spend $5-10 of BTC on a simple ad with your referral link and see what that gets you.  You could also 'self-fund' by viewing ads for 1-2 weeks on the platform and then putting those satoshis into an ad.  You can get a view for 10 sat

There are a lot of people who post ads for PTC sites, faucets, etc.

I've never had much luck with other types of social media (FB, Twitter, etc) but using a PTC site work well for me.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty and too many participants on: March 28, 2018, 12:51:29 AM
I can only speak for myself but I think the more people participating in the campaign the better.

Remember, a Bounty campaign is a marketing tool for the ICO promoter.  The more people that support it the better.

I think the emphasis should be on quality rather than having a max amount.

The higher quality the more likely to attract high quality investors which will ultimately lead to success of the project and increasing the value of your investment.

I think there should be an effort to increase the quality of those who participate but that would be up to the project sponsor and is not my role as a participant
