21  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New Bitcoin calculator, now support alternative coins on: March 02, 2014, 03:05:03 AM
Thank you for sharing it with us.

Maybe it's me that I don't see it, but I would like to see the equivalent BTC/day I would make if I'm mining an Altcoin
22  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: SHA 256 vs Scrypt on: March 02, 2014, 02:59:50 AM
+1 for Scrypt and I'm going to tell you what you know but what nobody said over here.

1. If bitcoin crashes, you can sell your computer for atleast 50% (bc the GPU's will decrease in value), you wouldn't be able to sell ASIC's
2. Right now it's more profitable, and the good this is that different altcoins come out, so the total Hashrate gets distributed to a lot of different coins. For example, if Dogecoin wouldn't exist, then LTC's difficulty would probably be at 6000 now.
3. Even though ASIC's for Scrypt are only months away, different variation of scrypts will come out (like N scrypt for VERT) that won't allow ASIC's to mine them. And I'm sure that then a whole bunch of new Nscrypts are going to come out.

4. If one day you're bored, disconnect one of your GPU's and use it to play videogames. Minecraft for example... Wink
23  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Just now, I found an orphaned block, Block #288064! on: March 02, 2014, 02:48:49 AM
You must have really powerful hardware in order to solo mine these days!!!
24  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 8 laptops + free elec = $? on: March 02, 2014, 02:45:38 AM
I would definitely go for CPU mining if you want to mine. But I would sell those laptops and buy BTC instead or a miner Wink
25  Bitcoin / Mining / Stand-offs? on: February 28, 2014, 06:32:35 AM
In an open air case that has non metallic base, are Stand-offs for MOBO really needed?
Is there any big reason why you think the HDD and PSU's should be fixed with screws instead of having them loose but steady?
26  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: MINERILO, new open air computer case. Throw away your Milk Crates on: February 27, 2014, 06:29:45 PM
Thank you for pointing that out for me Smiley. Like Nachius says, it's all in the description of the listing!
27  Economy / Computer hardware / MINERILO, new open air computer case. Throw away your Milk Crates on: February 27, 2014, 04:59:36 AM
I would like to show you this is my new product I designed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281274780304

The reason for this post is that I want to offer a cheap alternative of those milk crates to people who normally may not think about buying an open air computer case on Ebay.
If somebody is interested I would happily accept Bitcoins, Litecoins or Dogecoins (or any other known currency really), but on the other hand I’m also interested in building good history on ebay. So we would have to combine that.

I started off with the milk crates (like probably most of us do), thinking it’s the cheapest way to mount a computer. But it’s actually not that much cheaper, as you have to buy packs of everything (screws, straps, beams, etc) plus the milk crates. I found it being so ugly and so ineffective (specially with 2 PSU's) that I had to think of something else.
Aluminum was too expensive, so I ended up going with wood.

If something goes wrong, I could offer Skype assistance.
Another thing that would help me a lot is to know what you think about it. Critiquing it would be helpful as long it’s not done with bad intentions.

For 5 GPU's there is no problem. But for 6 GPU's you will need some kind of fan, because otherwise they will run hot.

I'm running 4 GPU's, 2 PSU's, 1 HDD and a very quiet big fan behind the structure set on its minimum speed and the cards are running in their 60's degrees Celsius. Oh and I'm running around in short sleeves (thanks to the heat generated by my miner), so I probably live in a 80 F ambiance temperature. I'm  even thinking of growing some tropical plants  Grin

Thank you for those kind words. I hope you make that rig soon!  Smiley. How many PSU's and GPU's are you planning to put in a system?

Aluminum was too expensive, so I ended up going with wood. But pinewood itself is not very pretty (I don’t like untreated wood in general too much), so I decided to apply a finishing + protective stain. I was so happy with the result that I just started selling them 1 day ago.

31  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can only get 2 out of 4 cards running - Please help! on: February 05, 2014, 06:32:01 PM
Up to 6 GPU's

Don't worry about the bandwidth
32  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can only get 2 out of 4 cards running - Please help! on: February 05, 2014, 07:16:20 AM
It might be that your MB doesn't accept all the pci-e slots working at the same time. I have the typical Z77 G45, and somewhere in the manual says that if I put some cable in pcie number 3, the pcie number 4 will not work (I don't remember the details but it goes along those lines).

Another problem I'm thinking is that the PSU's are not well hooked up together, I'm about to receive my second PSU and I'm planning to connect them together with http://www.add2psu.com/, although I wouldn't know why using one PSU only for the PCIE 6+2 pins (for the extra two graphics card) wouldn't work. But I'm just makng sure.
And I think you do have enough power, unless you are OC like crazy.

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Best Dogecoin pool on: January 31, 2014, 06:09:09 AM
Dogehouse for me. I get like a 80 or 90% of what a mining calculator says I should get, and in my experience that's quite good.
35  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Highend MOBO for 3 GPU's? on: January 27, 2014, 08:30:51 PM
I finally just got the computer by parts, and got the regular Z77A-G45 MB , celeron processor, milkcrate "case" and blablabla. So indeed @hyphenated; it was getting too complicated as in many cases they don't indicate the motherboard that's in the PC when buying them from ebay.
Are you saying PCIe risers screw up the PCIe from the motherboards?

That mobo is really cheap, I'm doing the same thing, connecting two 850W PSU's (probably overkill as I'm not overclocking the cards) at the same time
36  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Highend MOBO for 3 GPU's? on: January 05, 2014, 08:52:10 PM
I didn't know that about the slots.
That z77a-gd45 I can only find them for $100 on ebay and used, but its the one that I was going to get...
37  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Highend MOBO for 3 GPU's? on: January 05, 2014, 06:24:13 AM
Thanks for your answer Smiley

" $100 for a decent MB"Huh Can you tell me which MB will support 4 or more GPU's (7950 or equivalent) for $100?

Which exact model of 750W PSU did you buy?

BTW: I'm I right with what I stated/asked in 1.?
38  Bitcoin / Mining / Highend MOBO for 3 GPU's? on: January 05, 2014, 03:27:13 AM
I would like to build a mining rig with 3xHD7950 or equivalent GPU's with similar hashing power (yes I know its not cost efficient for SHA256, but thats not the problem) .

1. Why does everybody have the an high end ASrock or MSI or GYGAbyte?
Shouldn't every motherboard that has a combination of three: pcie x1 (considering you can buy the x1 to x16 adaptors) and pcie x16 , be good enough? Like for example this one: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61MX_R20/#specifications .
Do miners have those Asrock so they can connect up to 6 gpu's?

2. So my little secret is to buy a refurbished Dell precision computer on ebay for moreless $200-300, and make sure it has a motherboard with those 3 pcie that I was talking about in (1.). Then buy a 800W PSU and add it up in parallel with the 400-600W PSU that comes with the original case and connect them both with: " http://www.add2psu.com/ ". Then buy the risers to make sure I can put the cards out of the Case. I also would make sure that the total of 6-pin PCI Express power connectors would be equal to three.
Does that sound like a good idea?
Thanks.

PD: I think that that add2psu is really a great way to avoid to pay 400 dollars for psu, and instead just buying two mid-wattage PSU for a total of around $120

39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU mining only on: December 24, 2013, 05:50:49 AM
Why would you waste your resources mining with your CPU? Electricity will be more expensive than what you're going to earn CPU mining. As far as I know there is no Coin with which you can only mine with your CPU.
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dangerous to invest in new Altcoins? on: December 24, 2013, 05:38:14 AM
I would invest (very small amounts) on some of the coins, as sometimes some of them suddenly x10, but read about them, I think this is a quite interesting webpage to see which ones are scamcoins:
