21  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 1200W PSU on: July 09, 2011, 09:28:14 PM
i purchased this one
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0357383

My friend had told me that a room only uses 1200W at a time, so I'd have to get a wire connecting to another room if i was to plug in anything else?? Sounds ridiculous to me, but i couldn't find anything about it online.

Most rooms have one or two 15-amp or 20-amp circuits though some older ones may be only 10-amp.  One 15-amp circuit can handle about 1800w.  If you have access to your circuit breaker, it should be listed there.

I have two computers each with a 1500w power supply.  They each draw 1200w measured with a kill-a-watt.  They are both plugged into the same outlet on a dedicated 20amp circuit.  I've been running for a month with no problems.

The only time I had problems is when I plugged one of the computers into a 15amp circuit with other computers.  It ran for 5 minutes then tripped the breaker.  No damage though.

Nice job on getting the servers back up.

Our last 7 rounds have been quicker than expected at this difficulty.  Looks like I pointed my miners back to the pool at the right time.

Thanks for all of your hard work.

Hi

I do not know what is going on with this pool but I get much much more BTC with btcguild and deepbit pools.  I have left because something is just not right.

Hi

Yeah I don't get it either. I'm pulling almost 5 GHash/s and have been here for close to 48 hours (BTC Guild Refugee from the DDoS from hell) and have earned less the 1.9BTC a day. I'm getting less then 1% stale rate. I was donating 2.5% at BTC Guild and was still getting around 3.5 BTC a day. I have made no other miner configuration changes other then pointing to api.bitcoin.cz, I don't get it.... What should I check? Can this pool really be having that bad of luck?

I know that the difficulty just went up today, and I just received another GPU to throw online to up my MHash/s, I just don't know what else to check...

Anyone else with around 5 GHash/s want to share what you're making in a day?  Huh

If you look at the Statistics page and average the number of shared per round for the past 48 hours, you get 2.0M which is well above the difficulty (1.38M at the time).  So yes, it seems to be just bad luck.  At least for the past 2 days.  However if you look that the 3 days prior to that, the reward was above expected.

You can't accurately judge a pool by just 2 days worth of data.

Hi

switched from BTCGUILD since they are getting DDOS.  I am getting much less BTC compared to BTCGUILD and I added an extra card to the mining!

Hi

My earning is about 10% lower than expected for the past 24 hours, but not out of the ordinary.  Averaged over the past 4 days, I've gotten exactly as expected.  I don't think it's anything to be worried about.  I've gotten a few idle warnings, but only lasting a few seconds.

In the past 24 hours, the pool got 28 blocks instead of the 34 expected based on the hashrate.  Bad luck.  Tomorrow will likely be better.

Can I get whitelisted?  I've been reading this forum for weeks and wanted to post something on the BTCGuild forum.

I've been using this pool for about a week and it's been great.  I especially like the json stats.  I have one suggestion.  You should add the Payout History Total to the json stats.  I would find that very useful.

thanks
