Everyone get your space suits on! Our mission to Saturn is continuing and things are looking better than ever! Our developers have spent the past weeks extensively researching and testing the transition to Proof of Stake (PoS). It has proven to be troublesome to convert a PoW-only chain to PoS without risking massive problems. The only coins which have successfully ran a PoW stage, followed by PoS-only, had PoS built-in from the initial launch. In order to rule out these problems, we have decided that switching to a new PoS blockchain will be the best approach. There are various ways to switch to a new blockchain, and we have explored all possibilities. We have determined this will be the best approach: - On the existing blockchain, we are implementing a few changes:
- We are limiting the total supply to 7.77 billion coins.
- The mining reward gets changed to a fixed amount of 10,000 coins per block, starting from block 77777.
At the time of writing, approximately 7 billion coins have been mined. This means that only another ~10% will be mined, which is necessary to allow for the transition to the new blockchain (if we would halt mining immediately, the blockchain would halt, meaning no more transactions can be processed).
This step will take effect immediately - details are specified below.
- The new PoS blockchain is currently being prepared and tested. This blockchain will use the same prefixes as the old blockchain. This enables you to use your existing private key, so you can import it into the new wallet of the new blockchain. By doing so, you will be able to get use the same wallet on the new blockchain.
- On this new blockchain we will have a premine which equals the total supply of the old blockchain.
- On the old blockchain, we will setup an Exodus address. You will be able to send your coins from your old wallet to this address.
- We will be running a script which monitors all the transactions which are sent to this Exodus address. This script will be in control of the wallet which holds the premine on the new blockchain. It will send an equivalent number of coins that were received by the exodus address to the same wallet on the new blockchain (1:1).
Using this approach, everything will be 100% transparent, as every transaction will be visible in the blockchain (both on the old and the new blockchain). We expect to begin the Exodus to the new blockchain next week as we complete the final preparations, and there will be plenty of time for everyone to take part in the transition. Today we are commencing with step 1, meaning we are releasing a new wallet which introduces the reduced total supply and mining reward changes as specified above. No special changes are required, you may simply install the wallet the same way you installed your existing wallet. This is a big step ahead in the history of Saturncoin, but it is the first step of many. The current developments are merely securing a stable foundation for the future of Saturncoin and to protect the investments of our community: every Saturncoin holder will be glad they didn't settle for the moon and held tight for Saturn instead. Over the next couple of days we will also publish more details about some new exciting developments and our roadmap. Maybe it would be good if the DEVs were giving some explanations about progress
News was not meant to be used to scare folks away. It was meant to be as transparent as possible on the current state of the ongoing research. Crypto is all about pushing new bounds, this is just one that will require a bit more effort to get past. Also, keep in mind this is all open source, so the work I am doing will benefit the community. Knowing how to adjust a blockchain to an entirely new hashing function will be a great lesson. //start rant. On a side note. If you are dumb enough to invest money you can't afford to lose in this crazy altcoin playground. Please go sell and move the money to a mutual fund for safe keeping. The altcoin space is all about attempting new things with the technology, the day to day greed, money making scheme are all secondary. All these alts have no value other then to provide a testing ground for new ideas. Some of those ideas will stand on their own and gain value. Saturncoin has the idea of a coin that helps the community, either use it for that, or choose one of the other 410 coins. /end rant. Who do you think you are to disrespect?? You have no fucking idea what I can or I can not invest so save yourself those comments! . Some people invest a lot of time and energy into this coin/community a little respect for them please. Today i looked again and was happy to see that most of the ivory was removed from there Facebook. People are too impatient The coins should be bought with the idea that you can hold on to it for more than a 3-4 weeks at a time. I have been watching different sources and channels - I have this 'inkling' that some people are going to start moving soon. They recognized the potential of SAT (at least going up to 60 satoshi and within top 30 on the coinmarketcap), but the previous waves made it too expensive for them to jump in. I suspect that they are using this opportunity to gain market control - but now that sell orders have almost dried up, they see little reason to hold back. Watch and see  Good things always takes a while to happen !!! We also have a young and creative devteam, no old people who still think that a header on a forum
will make the big difference. We have a team that is different en original and one that will come up with new ideas !!! ROFL. Just ROFL. Is this seriously someone who is dev/responsible for this coin in any way? It would explain the level of English in this thread I guess xD Just the fact that you are obviously not able to change the header to something grammatically correct doesn't mean it isn't important. Ik heb er niet heel veel inzitten dus heel moeilijk heb ik het er niet mee, maar we moeten wel reëel zijn man: Er gebeurt niks (of in elk geval veel te weinig), de echte "dev" lijkt zich ergens bang in een hoekje verscholen te hebben en de prijs schommelt momenteel weer een beetje rond de 3 satoshi, maar binnenkort zijn ook die 2 en 1 satoshi buy orders weg. Het lijkt nu nog veel maar die orders kunnen letterlijk verdampen in een nacht. En dan zit je daar, met 100 BTC aan sell orders op de 1 satoshi, te hopen dat ze nog een LTC pair openen zodat je nog iets kunt terugcashen... Ik heb dit inmiddels zo vaak met zoveel coins zien gebeuren, ook met coins die een veel actievere dev en community hebben dan SAT. Geef me dan een serieuze reden (afgezien van dat we nooit moeten opgeven en andere crap die je alleen maar roept als je veel te veel geïnvesteerd hebt in een coin  ) om niet gewoon nu al mijn SAT voor 3 satoshi te dumpen? i've been investing into cryptos for awhile and honestly I have to say I quite like the community and positiveness there is for Saturncoin. Great constructive atmosphere and definitely supporting and investing this coin in the long run.
And if you guys ever need a translator to help turn your info/releases into Traditional/Simplified Chinese, let me know and I am happy to help you with that.
Thanks for this nice offer. Looks to me that we can do something with it. I don`t speak Chinese only dutch and a little English but i know there are living a lot of people in China. We need to discuss with the community, its a good opportunity !! Let the ideas flow around.... think about what is important to translate and where do we go with it !! Maybe we can setup something on Tencent ? |
