21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SPOT] | **500 BLOCKS UNTIL HARD FORK ** READ THREAD - On CoinPayments.net on: February 13, 2014, 01:30:45 PM
perhaps we should do a deliberate fork? Set up a pool that the diff hoppers don't know about, mine on that with the wallet unsynced - the diff should drop off so we get consistent (~1min) block times with a consistent hash rate, then we have the longest chain once we resync... Just bar any userid that mines for <10minutes?

Go ahead. Those coins would be useless though since all the exchanges and everything else would be on a different fork

I thought in the event of a fork the longest block chain won, so a chain that has been generating blocks every minute will win out over one where the difficulty gets spiked and so the block generation slows right down... Basis of the 51% attack - generate a 'false' block chain faster than the 'real' one...

Since nobody's replied yet, I'll try to answer this with my somewhat limited knowledge (so don't take my word for it).

As far as I understand, clients are hardwired to use a certain block chain for a certain set of blocks, which is why hard forks require a new client. A 51% attack generates false blocks on the current chain, rather than creating a whole new one.

I still think it should have been at block 81000, there simply isn't enough time to update everything before block 79000 Roll Eyes

Even with the change to 79000, everyone's going to have had significantly more time to update to this new version than they were expected to for the 81000 release based on the original estimates.
Sorry, i was being sarcastic!

Ah, my tablet wasn't loading that emote  Tongue

Well it gave me a reason to update the banning rules, as well

What banning rules?  Huh

He's referring to a function of the wallet that prevents it from connecting to other coins' networks.

Hashbros, and a couple others hit it

It's extremely unprofitable right now, though, so why would they switch to it? More importantly, have they recently?
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SPOT] | HARD FORK READ THREAD - On CoinPayments.net and WorkForCrypto.com on: January 26, 2014, 10:06:34 PM
It's not even February, yet. The website is going to get completely redone, it's ugly as shit right now

I went by the 70 second block times in the code. Multipools made difficulty go nuts and blocks are going slow. The fork will slow the swings down. The math was right based on the code, but not on real life swings

Everyone has already downloaded the new client to fork at 81000, why should we release another one just to speed it up? The problem is that all the pools may not update twice and then we have miners stuck on a bad chain

You realize the reason we aren't doing 50 updates is so you guys don't lose your coins by being on a shitty fork like you have with other coins such as ADT

Multipools haven't touched Spots for quite some time, since their value has gone down so much. Why are the blocks still coming so slowly?

What the hell is going on here...

iGotSpots, you made quite a few references to major events to occur in February, including a full overhaul of http://www.igotspots.com/.

At the rate we're currently seeing, the hard fork won't come around until late Feb or even March. I can fully understand your intent to ensure that everyone's ready when the fork comes. However, we're just over a quarter of the way to block 81k and it's already been a week since the day you estimated we'd *reach the fork*.

I understand what you were saying about sarcasm not being politically correct, but you act as though he was seriously considering changing the block reward to 0.

Edit:
By the way cross-talk from other coins is not fixed as you claim, nevertheless useless changes such as changing logos and renaming coin you do every update.

The cross-talk fix is coming with the hard-fork, which I have to say is taking a ridiculous amount of time to kick in.

Quote
Its been the same way for 6 months and you guys are only complaining now because better days are ahead
I should have just set new block reward to 0 so you guys had something real to be mad about

If you set the reward to 0, first nobody would download the new adjusted client, and it would also kill your coin outright, because there would be no longer any blocks found, so no transactions, no transfers, all because there are no incentives for mines to support a network anymore. You understand that, right?

You do realize that was sarcasm, right?

Looks like the bottom, all the signs. I do not know what caused it, your words/promises or other, but down more we can't go, even though there have been several attempts, very strong attempts. Downstairs now there is a proposal for a cheap ~10k, perhaps I'll take them, guys. Good luck...

PS: And someone charged up with a lot of spots... ~120-200k or even more?

I would hate to be you this weekend

Yeah his sell price of 0.0005 is looking pretty stupid now on Sunday evening!
Did you miss a zero, there?
Regardless, I think that iGotSpots was being somewhat over-optimistic about this weekend. We're seeing lots of great things, such as the coin being added to WorkForCrypto and CoinPayments, that give people the ability to pick Spots. However, what will actually drive the price up will be the hard fork, which will give people a reason to pick Spots.

Don't forget that the cause of the market crash was Cryptsy, not lack of faith in the coin. The only reason why the price dropped even farther after the return to Cryptsy was the broken wallet. Both of those causes will become entirely irrelevant after the hard fork.

So where is 1.0.4 at?

Technically speaking, it doesn't matter when we get the client, since it'll be pretty much useless until the hard fork goes live.

I'm still with you, though. I'd like to see some tangible form of progress as soon as possible  Tongue

I don't have a ton of experience with this, but I wouldn't expect the price to peak until the hard fork goes live, even if having a working client available begins to reinvigorate support this weekend.

Out of curiosity, did you invest any money into Spots, or did you mine everything?

Mined a little at the august, but this crazy jumps of difficulty stopped me from mining. I mined more when just mined litecoins.
After that i invested some of bitcoins. Price dropped and i bought more, then price dropped more.. so on. Then i leave this, maybe at the end of september or begin-mid of october. Then at the end of november or first days of december saw that price is rising and bought some at 18000-22000.. Totally i spent about 1.5-2 btc. Don't want to open excel now to find exact numbers. But after jumping to 30000 and then fall down i lost about 80% of investments.
Ah, I can understand why you're so upset now. If I were you, I'd still buy a few Spots right now, since the price is so crazy low. Even if the value only goes up to .6 (which is still somewhat undervalued, imo), you'd double your investment. With the coin going on WorkForCrypto and getting a new wallet this week, I find it unlikely that the price will stay this low for much longer, and I hugely doubt that it'll drop even farther.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spots [SPT] | Added to WorkForCrypto.com - 1/10/2014 | Win | Mac | Linux | on: January 07, 2014, 07:58:50 PM
I wish you luck. Really. I was in your ship from beginning of august. But constantly price moved to a bottom.
About devcoin - this was not me who said here that you will add devcoin next to workforcrypto, not spots. But after some time and falling price you said
Devcoins is not next. We had problems with the daemon a while back. Spots is next
So this says that you previously wish to do something with devcoin, so you have some relations with them.
If you working hard - ok. But from august anyone see no new improvements, fixes, wallets, features, shops, etc etc etc. Only thing that happened from that moment - semi-stable blockchain explorer, few pools, relisting at coinchoose and (!) listing at coinmarketcap. It's all good, but not enough.
I wish you that you find someone who can help you programming faster and whom you can trust this work.
But this time i watching from outside this ship and for that moment i did not a mistake but good move for my depo. Because now price moves down. Maybe after 14+/- feb 2013 price will turn opposite, submarine transofrms to lightspeed rocket and price goes "to da jupiter". When time comes - i may return my survived btc's to buy what i'm sold and maybe little more.
Out of curiosity, did you invest any money into Spots, or did you mine everything?

iGotSpots said that he fixed crosschatting with litecoin in 1.0.2.0-unk-nug. That's not correct.
Now he said he fixed that in 1.0.4.0 (did i remember right?). Before that he said something about christmas update. Where is christmas windows wallet? Where is 1.0.4.0 windows wallet? Original post just linked to august version.
He didn't showed public data about transactions with paying for his shares, he said that there was a partner that did shares part. But this is not business if one of partners leaving business and other partner have no responsibility for that part to customers.
No responsibility for any words. Very unprofessional. Who knows iGotSpots personally? He said that he is very good dev and only one who didn't scammed anyone.
What i see from previous messages - there are some words about devcoin? Devcoin forked by... shakezula?.. But wait... shakezula forked CENT aka Pen(n)i(e)s? Hmmm. But this is really scamcoin! Code has specially placed error.. you must know about it. Fast end of pow-mining, no chances to fully understand code, then pos-mining with error that gives opportunity to have 10000x times more of stakes than must be..
iGotSpots did not appeal all of the above, he simply evades full and accurate answers. Bad business. We rolling back to 100 satoshis per spot.
Now there is 3.7 mil of spots. A month ago there was little more that 2mil? But wait.. He said he wants 2mil$ of market cap. 2mil$ for 2mil spots or 2mil$ for 3.7mil spots? or 2mil$ for 20mil spots? How much spots will be total? He never answered that question.
The original and only ETA of 1.0.4.0  was this week. I'm not sure why you seem determined to drive the value of SPT down even farther than a broken wallet already has, but it'd be nice if you performed your sabotage if and when it'll be deserved, rather than just before the dev's attempt to fix everything that you're complaining about.

Spots doing well. Ten fold drop from 30k to 3k. Thanx to my ass she realized that this rocket is out of fuel and i jumped from it at 5100-4800.
draceus, you said "if you are only bringing negativity" about my words. Am i was wrong? It's not only negativity. I was with spots enough time.. Even more - i have big hope with them and was little more happy that spots created in my birthday. But too much time spent and money. That's all.
I'm not quite sure what you were expecting, but none of the changes that promise to raise the market cap have even left the testing stage, let alone had a chance to make an impact.

i have problems for mining in solo,anyone can post his config pls ?
Thx

In my spots.conf file, after all of the addnodes, I have
Code:
server=1
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcport=9775
port=4588
rpcallowip=192.168.*.*
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

gen=0

And in my cgminer.conf I have
Code:
                "url" : "http://127.0.0.1:9775",
"user" : "username",
"pass" : "password"
for my pool. That should work for you.

And yes, I'm working on a hard fork for Spots. Get rid of that Litecoin bullshit for good and adjust how the difficulty moves. The timing will still be the same, but the percentage of change per block will be dropping to slow down the jumps and keep multipools off. Icons wills also change, and there will be a few network optimizations that hopefully help speed up finding peers

I'll have it on a brand new testnet early next week

Let's just hope that the gained investors from a working client will balance out the effects of being gone from Cryptsy for a few days Tongue
Make sure to warn us before you finalize the fork.

I really like spots coin Smiley I've mined a lot of them until now, believing that the price is going to rise. I've only saw great falls on it, but I still believe that this coin is going up... Can anyone agree with me?

Also, iGotSpots is a active member which gives security to all users who mine spots Smiley

iGotSpots is arranging something that should be complete within the next week or two. Look for the price to shoot up after that release. If you want more information, look through the past few pages in this thread.

Ok, censoring a forum is total bullshit man. You deleted 3 posts, not 2. Censorship is worse than a fiat. You are seriously going to delete my posts?

 It is not merely a bug. I have over 30 wallets and solo mine 90% of the time. I have 15mh/s and know when a wallet is in sync. Please, do not speak to me as a noob. I am a man, and I am over 40.

 There is some serious manipulation going on with your coin.

Obviously, the Spots wallet has to be synced. However, if the number of blocks left to sync is significantly larger than the number of Spots blocks that actually exist and is not shrinking, that's merely a visual bug. You should still be able to receive payments, send payments, and solo mine perfectly well.

Nobody called you a noob; they just want to inform you that the Spots wallet, at least for this build, doesn't act like any of your other 30+ wallets.
