21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM Darkcoin instamine 2 millions DRKs (50% of darkcoin in circulation) on: June 26, 2014, 09:51:47 PM
Let's take a look at the first 5 h of Darkcoin (XCoin at that time)...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4589219#msg4589219
Edufield said (after failed launch) that he will wait the next day to launch DRK (XCoin at that time) it is 11 pm.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4591407#msg4591407
Edufield disregard windows wallet and daemon and hurry up his launch, presumably to not have windows miners on board.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4592827#msg4592827
Edufield say he added four nodes for the launch at 4 am (5 hours later, despite his promise to wait). The 4 nodes from Edufield are 3 amazons AWS + another unknown (whois IP). Launch started at 3h54 am.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4593601#msg4593601
Edufield said the github version was not updated, nobody could compile and only Edufield was able to mine until that time. It is 5.09 am and Edufield instamined alone 1153 block at 500 DRK + 60 block at reward 277 = 593120 DRK for him alone in about 1 hour.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4593987#msg4593987
No windows wallet confirmed at 5h47 am, despite a user attempt to make one avaiable, that Edufield dismissed quickly.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4594096#msg4594096
Illodin, understand dev has instamined alot of coin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg4595573#msg4595573
From this list of nodes, at 8h34 am (4h40 after launch) there were 50 Amazon AWS node and 50 microsoft cloud computing instamining DRK (checked using IP whois service). This is 100/124 nodes using cloud computing to instamine DRK. We are at block 2870 and block reward is 500. From block 1153-1729 block reward is 277. After that it is 500 again hence 2294 block at 500 + 576 at 277 = 1306552 DRK (worth about 13M$ now) were instamined in less than 5 hour by Edufield and coworkers using about 100 cloud mining instances. Edufield himself instamined in not even 5 h from 600K to 1169K DRK ((1306K-600K)*100/124 + 600K) depending how many of the 100 cloud mining instance were its own. All this while having purposefully set the difficult ridiculously low and block reward 100 times what it is now.

From 6M$ - 13M$ in 5 h, Edufield did some lucrative work here!

Edufield is nominee for the Master Scammer 2014 award!

Thanks for the details. I fixed the block reward value of 77778th block.
But How did you calculate time for first 42000 blocks and blocks till 77776?

I did not calculate, I checked at ANCblockchain the timestamp Wink

Also before Meeh put Kimoto Gravity Well there was alot of problem with mining pools increasing diff to sky high (circa blocks 77777-87777)... The difficulty algorithm did not work great at that time hence the theoretical time was not respected...

Thank you .  The blockchain at ancblockchain.com was also not showing correct block reward value, for 1 to 42000 blocks and i Fixed it now.  I have also added latest CNY value of ANC at http://www.btc38.com/trade_en.html?btc38_trade_coin_name=anc in the homepage.
But gostrol , Can you please explain on how you calculated the exact dates?

Well see following code from main.cpp in ANC github:

I think you got it wrong with subsidy.

Code:
int64 nSubsidy = 5 * COIN;
    // Some adjustments to the start of the lifetime to Anoncoin
    if (nHeight < 42000) {
        nSubsidy = 4.2 * COIN;
    } else if (nHeight < 77777) { // All luck is seven ;)
        nSubsidy = 7 * COIN;
    } else if (nHeight == 77778) {
        nSubsidy = 10 * COIN;
    } else {
        nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 306600); // Anoncoin: 306600 blocks in ~2 years
....

static const int64 BlocksTargetSpacing = 3 * 60; // 3 minutes

Subsidy halving is at block 306600 and at the moment a block is 3 min hence I did the difference betwen current block value and 306600 and multiplied it by 3 min. Then I used http://www.timeanddate.com/date/timeadd.html# to add the number of minutes obtained to current date to get the future date of halving. Then I added 306600*3 = 919800 min to that date to get the next date of halving, etc...

So upto the 8th of July 2013, the total number of coins after 42,000 blocks was 176,400?

13/07/08   42000   7   176400   176400

That is exact:
Block 1 to block 41999 was 4.2 ANC per block hence 42000*4.2 = 176400

For purists:

from block 42000 up to block 77776 block reward is 7
block 77777 reward is 5
block 77778 reward is 10
then block 77779 and above are 5 until block 306600

Btw in the above calculus I dismissed block 77778 which was 10 ANC and counted it 5 to simplify

Geekz block reward http://ancblockchain.com/block/d13f93f9fdac82ea26ed8f90474ed2449c8c24be50a416e43c323a38573c30e5 should be 10 Wink

You can calculate the excepcted amount in excel. I dont have the any time now, but I can set up a table later.

Looks like i figured it out.
Basics of Anoncoin
Total 4.2 million Anoncoins can be mined. Anoncoin network processes a block every 3.42 minutes, i.e. 420 blocks a day.
Currently in 2014 , Block Reward is 5 . So,  5 x 420 = 2100 coins can be mined per day.

Here are the fun facts :

*NOTE : I am not sure about the accuracy , because , i am finding a lot of discrepancy when i verify it with exact data from the blockchain at ancblockchain.com. Advice from other experts needed for further clarification.

  • First 176404 Anoncoins were mined in first 100 days of launch.

Geekz, block time is one every 3 min, they changed it from the 3.42 min initially chosen.

480 block a day hence 2400 ANC for the moment

OK I calculated for you:

current block=194160
halving nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 306600)
306600 - 194160 = 109440 block
1 block every 3 min : 328320 min remaining for halving

--> next halving the thursday 22 january 2015, with block reward 2.5

next halving after that @block 613200
hence samedi 22 october 2016, with block reward 1.25

next halving after that @block 919800
hence monday 23 july 2018, with block reward 0.625

next halving after that @block 1226400
hence wednesday 22 april 2020, with block reward 0.3125

Blocks are every 3 min now, no more every 3.42 min...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=227287.msg6920430#msg6920430

When did the block time change? (Date?)

Please can someone help verify this tabulation of block rewards:

can anyone explain the anon system to me. I think if someone would draw a picture like they use to explain other anon systems it would help bring attention to us . but at least a couple words explaining the anon

It is not anonymous at the moment despite what is written in the title. Although the dev said he will integrate Stealth Addresses in the future. This will increase privacy, but will not render it anonymous (anonymity is much more difficult to achieve, anoncoin running through I2P or zerocash running through Tor will offer a much more complete anonymous network).

Stealth addresses will be nice addition to make EXE a good coin for shops imho. Because by using them the shops will keep their privacy and no one will be able to know how much EXE their account received. It is no business for any payors to know how much goods the shops solds. With bitcoin you have to reuse new addresses to hide amount you received, and those can be linked through the blockchain hence privacy is low. With a stealth address the privacy is garanteed and this is a good thing IMHO. Hence I am happy the dev want to implement this interesting feature.

Quote
The primary benefit, the paper says, is that payors would not learn of other payments made to stealth addresses, while third-parties would not glean any information from the transaction at all.
More info : http://www.coindesk.com/stealth-addresses-secret-bitcoin-privacy/

IMHO the dev should remove "anonymous" from the topic and replace it with "private" and "Stealth addresses" when he will have implemented "Stealth address". No need to try to catch the current pseudo-anonymous scam coins ala DRK, XC, XLB and others. IMHO this is not good to mislabel a result of a technology to make it looks like another one, especially when Stealth addresses in themselves are an excellent technology which has its niche market, as a normal shopping feature for clearnet (not much shop owners would like their customers to watch their bank accounts, would they?). In contrast to several people posting above, I do not think Stealth addresses is something for darkmarket at all, it is totally of no use for darkmarkets.

Do it, dev! Let's implement them! Smiley

Will start development for mobile bitcoinj for ANC at https://github.com/geekz/bitcoinj
Any help would be appreciated. It will be a simple java wallet and without i2p or tor features for now.

Great!  Cool

I will give you 50 ANC as a bounty for this Wink

Here is your bounty address: ANdroicLmsxioNySJcrMaDM4hE4YjYD575

I will give all the ANC there is on it to you as soon as a working implementation of android wallet is done Wink

Others peoples who wanna give some ANC for the android wallet can use this address (although they will have to trust me Wink).

Does ZeroCoin need an trusted accumulator like ZeroCash?

No need to by using RSA-UFOs following Gnos1s implementation. It will be trustless Smiley

I think you got it wrong with subsidy.

Code:
int64 nSubsidy = 5 * COIN;
    // Some adjustments to the start of the lifetime to Anoncoin
    if (nHeight < 42000) {
        nSubsidy = 4.2 * COIN;
    } else if (nHeight < 77777) { // All luck is seven ;)
        nSubsidy = 7 * COIN;
    } else if (nHeight == 77778) {
        nSubsidy = 10 * COIN;
    } else {
        nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 306600); // Anoncoin: 306600 blocks in ~2 years
....

static const int64 BlocksTargetSpacing = 3 * 60; // 3 minutes

Block time was initially 3.42 min but now it is 3 min.

Hence, halving is at block 306600 (I dont think we have to add 77777, but I may be wrong). The chain is at block 187256 hence it remains 119344 blocks. A block is 3 min, 358032 min for 119344 blocks or 5967 h or 248 days.

This give 28 january 2015 as the date for reward halving to occur.

In exchanges you can add bleutrade.com

Also you can say the developpers are implementing Zerocoin (zerocoin.org) in a trustless manner. The zero-knowledge proofs combined with I2P will make it the most useful coin for anonymity in the near future.

32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: May 23, 2014, 12:02:12 AM
For info, here is a response I got from gnosis on redit about a couple of questions I had.

///

I have read the Zerocash paper and while it has some very cool ideas, it has one serious weakness: the requirement for a trusted setup. This makes it not much better than a coin laundry like Bitfog: the owner of a coin laundry can steal everyone's coins if they so choose, and the same possibility exists with all the anonymized money in circulation in Zerocash. The only strategy to reduce a user's risk is to reduce the time their money is anonymized, but that reduces anonymity.
Anyway, to answer your questions:

1. Will it be possible to use zero-knowledge-SNARKs to reduce the size of the zerocoin proof? The authors of the paper are not too clear on this point.
Probably not.

2. Will it be possible to choose the initial setup parameters for zerocash without relying on trusted third parties, such as with RSA-UFOs as has been proposed for Anoncoin's version of zerocoin?
Probably not for years. This would be a major breakthrough if cryptographers could find a way to do this.

3. It is my understanding that the total amount encoded into zerocash can not be calculated, as the amount is hidden in the zerocash coin commitment. Would it be possible to create new coins (or perhaps double spend) without getting caught if the initial setup parameters were known? Or would this just let the person steal existing zerocash coins?
Yes, the former. If the entity who setup the initial parameters was dishonest and did not delete the data they were supposed to delete, they could create new money without being detected. The currency would experience massive inflation.

///

If its really possible to setup the original Zerocoin protocol without trust, but not Zerocash, then I think that Anoncoin will have much more to offer than other competing coins...

I dont get it: are all your questions regarding Zerocash? Its seems question number 1 at least is ambiguous. Will it be possible for Anoncoin to reduce the Zerocoin proof? If not, arent we doomed to blockchain bloat Anoncoin out of existence?
Whats the difficulty for Zerocash to adopt Anoncoin's solution for the initial setup problem in case it works? COuld they just copy our approach for Zerocash?

May I also ask where you chatted with gnos1s?

http://www.reddit.com/r/Anoncoin/comments/25z2fw/differences_between_zerocoin_and_zerocash/

Question 1 was indeed about zerocoin-in-Anoncoin, in Zerocash they already use zk-SNARKS to reduced proofs size

Blockchain bloat will not occur as much as feared because we dont need to store the proof in the blockchain but in some external database that will be pruned at regular interval, only hashes will be kept in the blockchain:

Quote
I am taking some ideas from the BitTorrent protocol to handle the large size and CPU requirements of Zerocoin. Spend proofs will be broken up into pieces and verified and transmitted separately. A "spend root" contains the hashes of these pieces and other info that is needed to verify a piece. The blockchain only contains serial numbers and hashes of spend roots, which means everything else related to a Zerocoin spend can be thrown away eventually.

Quote
The plan is to use a signed checkpoint message at regular intervals. When a client receives a valid one, all Zerocoin spend proofs at lower block heights are thrown away, and the client gives the message to all clients it interacts with, until the message is superseded by one with a larger block height.

http://www.reddit.com/r/ZeroCoin/comments/23pfwg/will_zerocoin_be_open_source/

Quote
For a ZC spend proof, the only things in the block chain (in the transaction input) are the denomination (in the amount field of the input), the spend root hash, and the serial number. The spend root is a ~1KB datum that contains hashes of several spend pieces as well as some other values.

https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin/blob/zerocoin/doc/zerocoin.md

http://www.reddit.com/r/ZeroCoin/comments/20afhy/tldr_for_zerocoin_zerocash_by_jaaphenk_hoepman/

Zerocash cannot adopt RSA-UFOs because it does not use the same technology than zerocoin (zk-SNARKS in zerocash and not in zerocoin), the key in zerocash will be over 1Gb.

Hence here we have two differents technologies, one is trustless and token based (Zerocoin-in-Anoncoin) and the other is fully divisible and with greater privacy (everything is hidden including amount) but rely on trust for an initial setup (Zerocash). Also ANC will have i2p fully implemented in the client to hide IP, which provide another layer of anonymity.

If you want to chat with Gnosis and Meeh, you can join #anoncoin at freenode or through i2p (install i2p routeur https://geti2p.net/en/download and connect through it to IRC 127.0.0.1:6668, join #anoncoin)

Does this coin has a twitter-bot?

Would be nice to have one in addition to the reddit-bot Smiley

People buying DRK now are not investors they are dumb sheeps...

True investors know when to invest and where to find the information needed, there is not only btctalk on internet and the devs can be contacted through other means than a forum Wink

I will not tell more, the clever understand  Wink

I can tell you that this is a chance for buying on low price.

It is not really important if would Zero implantation be in 2-3 or 6 weeks.
Most important is that all is setup like it should be.

Gnosis or Meeh will see this posts and respond soon.
They still have their Anoncoins, and it is not in there interest to give us fake informations.

So, I understand impatience, in time when DRK price rise.

I do not mind if people love to spend money on fake anonymity in DRK.
But I can not understand why waiting with Anoncoin buy on this price.
People will buy for 60$  rather then now on 0.6$, it is psychology......

But, who knows, we will see soon  Smiley

Zerocoin is a public library on GitHub that dev can put in their project to work with it. Dreamcoin and Libertycoin are both scamcoin that did only copy this library in their github to make it look like they are implementing it. In fact they are doing nothing as far as coding it into their coin, they put the library there to make people believe they will use it. Anoncoin's dev Gnos1s on the other hand did extensive coding and implementation work is still ongoing to put a working Zerocoin implementation in anoncoin. Even more Gnosis want to have a trustless zerocoin by using RSA-UFO which would be the most amazing way to implement such a technology. I could further explain why a trustless zerocoin is necessary and why it has an edge over Zerocash if this achievement is done but at first let us wait for the 18 may and the publication of the new zerocash paper.

Can we please have some updates from the DEV about technical progress (aside from just logos, etc). What happens if ZERO COIN is not released in the near term? Will you be working on anonymity innovations on your own?

Look at the market value of Anoncoin and Darkcoin. Darkcoin is 30 times more. Now. From $5 000 they could make $150 000 if they stayed committed to the idea of Zerocoin. But seems to me they have much better jobs than to work on this project anymore.

I know Dreamcoin still implementing Zerocoin also.

My understanding is that Dreamcoin said they had fully implemented zerocoin; this was not the case. All dreamcoin is was a clone of another coin. Sure they might be implementing it but it's never a good sign when they say its ALREADY implemented and wasn't.

Regarding complaints about updates/lack of progression; I sure as heck don't know how to code and I could throw lots of money at something but it doesn't change the fact that this project isn't the dev's dayjob. Give them some space let them do what they do; they are continuing to make changes and commits. Regardless of when this comes out; I'll be happy because it offers a strong alternative that isn't some quick pump and dump scheme to enrich a select few. On the otherhand if you start to see massive changes in the network and coin supply; hold on to your coins because we will be in for a bumpy ride. TLDR: Keep calm and anon on. Wink

Hehe but you are already doing this all day long Wink

Then we will publish a DRK wall of shame with all the fanboys who pumped it to the unaware people Smiley

If anyone can read out this ?

https://github.com/Anoncoin/ufo_client/commit/526f590ebcaaf3abab9d3f4a37ff77b237e052be

Something is complete, it is a good sign!  : )

I'm waiting the day that Anoncoin releases Zerocoin feature, at that's time I will tell everyone how much Anoncoin better than SCAM darkcoin. and the Anoncoin price will go to the MOOOOOON Smiley

Hello,

I have tried many designs and here's the only one I'm really satisfied with.
I prefer the question mark as ANC symbol rather than the A as the question mark directly suggests anonymity.
By adding a square to the question mark, it draws a locker and a A. So you can find in the logo concepts of anonymity (the question mark), security (the locker), anoncoin (the A), and coin (the circle).
Here's a few variations in black, white and gray:

And for those who like colors, I've made a little jsfiddle you can play with (just click the image to pop the color picker) Wink
http://jsfiddle.net/SQ4Jk/5/embedded/result/

I hope you like it as it will probably be my last try Wink

Hi,

Before doing things like described there
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=227287.msg6112769#msg6112769 (promotional video etc,..) I have other suggestions to do in a preliminary approach of PR.

We could make a few improvement to ANC branding:

Here are a few ideas:

  • at first I think we shall find a new logo.

    I have some idea for the logo but the best way IMHO is to do a contest like darkcoin did on designcrowd.com : you can check in those few links...
    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5825307#msg5825307
    http://logo.designcrowd.com/contest.aspx?id=469921
    http://imgur.com/a/3LCoa
    http://imgur.com/a/7sy98

    In this way the people will vote for the new logo which will sort things out quickly... funds shall be allocated for this first because without a logo there is no brand identity.
  • Second, I think the text on the website (about darknet and so on) is not appropriate for broad adoption. I like the way lunokhod2 presented the advantage of ANC in his wiki : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Lunokhod/sandbox , particularly Implementation of Zerocoin part. It shall be more vulgarised I think and understandable for many people (even on this forum darkcoin people dont understand their coin is flawed vs ANC).
  • Third, when the logo has been selected, the website's look should be changed in accordance. (Actually I really dislike the header and slider of the current site).

Meanwhile, I am willing to be a part of the PR team I can do some web design, logo and text.

40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: April 22, 2014, 03:14:57 PM
Alincoln, this is a very generous offer. Smiley It will be much needed for PR stuff as like you said ANC need a complete overhaul in this respect. It is really sad such a good coin lose value vs darkcoin for instance for a lack of propaganda IMHO. The superior technology (ZC and full I2P integrated wallet) will win at the end I think but we just need to make people recognize the truely innovative coin!

What is needed is a professional propaganda team like Vertcoin. Your contributions to this noble cause will be I am sure very respected. Smiley Please just give more time before withdrawing your offer, Meeh and Gnosis are coding and do not take time checking this thread I think. Meeh's is not very good at PR, it is known since a long time. Probably to ask Brotoxer about what can be done to have a working PR team and how it can be set up efficiently would be the good way to act? Before giving donations some people shall be found and hired I think, and some plan for bounties sketched. If VTC team could do it with so much efficacy it is possible we achieve this to eventually IMHO. We are grateful to have two excellents devs already, now it cannot be so much harder to find a good PR man, can it? Wink

Please do not take the lack of answer as an insult, all the ANC community is very thankful for your offer.  Cheesy

I would like to support this coin by matching any donations from the community up to $5,000 if they are able to fully implement and launch a working version of the Zerocoin protocol before June 1st.

This is a reward to the developers, and an incentive for them to keep working on the coin.

Why is my offer being ignored? Is it too low to ANC devs or PR even care replying to?

I am not trolling. If you don't reply within 24 hours I will withdraw the offer.
I would be willing to contribute ANC to such a fund (but not USD, my resources are limited). I too was awaiting a response from the developers indicating that they were interested. Perhaps they are too busy with coding, which would be great Smiley

Regardless, I am finding it very disturbing that JackOfAll is still listed as the PR guy, especially since he doesn't even respond to his emails... Do the devs realize this? They are losing out on harnessing all the community interest in this coin.

Just to clarify, I did a fiat offer for practical purposes, as I'd really convert and donate ANC or BTC.

ANC might well succeed in the end but it needs a complete overhaul. The PR is terrible and they don't seem to care.
