21  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Place LIMIT orders on Coinbase - online app on: January 23, 2014, 07:06:52 PM
I really want to use this. How does it execute orders without compromising security on coinbase?

It lets you connect it to Coinbase (the way you would connect online app to Facebook).

When connecting, it asks you for permissions - buy Bitcoin, sell Bitcoin, view transaction history. It stores tokens encrypted in database, and this is all anyone could do with these tokens.

If the app does get compromised by a 3rd party, the only thing the attacker would get are tokens to buy and sell Bitcoins on someone else's account, but no way to get the Bitcoins out of the account.

Other than that, there's basic security measures like XSS or SQL injection protection mechanisms

Well done ;-) Actually we are located in Berlin, Germany - but I am sure we will soon ask you to do something for us.
We are currently developing a larger project related to bitcoin and (from what I have seen) your design/taste completely matches ours.

I will also consider a small donation for you  Wink

Yup let me know, will be glad to help
23  Economy / Services / Re: Agile web development - will code for coin :-) on: January 22, 2014, 09:40:34 PM
Interesting site... So what do you earn from it?

Voluntary donations, it's open source project. I'd rather say good feeling. And some $53 from awesome folks who donated :-)

Here is the currency conversion class I'd need help with, to connect it to some reliable source of info.

https://github.com/tomholub/coin-turtle/blob/master/www/app/libs/ApiClients/GetConversionRates.php

Specifically I'd need the following functions filled with some real substance :-)

getBtcUsdRate()
getAltcoinSellRates()
getFiatRates()

Maybe someone has something similar in their project and can copy&paste the code?

It's best to reply here if you want to do it, so that others know someone is working on this

//edit: I can actually copy&paste getBtcUsdRate() from http://coinbaseorders.com/ . One down, two left.

THank you

Yes NXT sure will be implemented

Anyone else who would like to pitch in with bits of code? Will need a little class to for updating USD->fiats and BTC->cryptos prices

Why no SSL?

SSL would be awesome. If you don't mind donating a little to buy the SSL with, i'll get it up there
27  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Place LIMIT orders on Coinbase - online app on: January 20, 2014, 05:59:39 PM
Great website!  I was just about to roll my own after unsuccessful searching Tongue

Any chance you could add trailing limit orders? (and the ability to cancel higher limit orders when a trailing limit order is executed)

Sure, if a few folks folks agree it would be useful I'll add it. Alternatively the source is open for anyone to alter and once implemented I'll use that code
28  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Accept any coin on: January 20, 2014, 05:51:16 PM
If you need any programming assistance, i will be happy to join the project!

Send me a PM to let me know what you're good at.. we'll sure use some help :-)
29  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Place LIMIT orders on Coinbase - online app on: January 19, 2014, 06:16:59 AM
I think they are overwhelmed with the huge increase in their business at the moment, too much so to worry about adding additional features. They seem to be less interested in all the automated trading action and trading in general and more interested in helipng merchants cash out and americans buy btc.

Might be. Which leaves space for others to do cool stuff using their API
30  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Accept any coin on: January 18, 2014, 08:08:49 AM
It's slowly getting some shape. Get notified when it's launched: http://cointurtle.com/

Development started and sources will be available on https://github.com/tomholub/coin-turtle . This thing will get done, it's just a matter of time.

We welcome any help, here's some things that will be needed:

A) Implemention - operations with individual altcoins based on this template https://github.com/tomholub/coin-turtle/blob/master/www/app/libs/Altcoins/Altcoin_BTC.php . Every Altcoin is welcome.

B) User Experience advisor / designer. To make it easy to use.

C) First testers. Anyone who will be able to test the system with a few cents to find any possible bugs

D) Implementation - connecting to exchage APIs for automatic trading Altcoin -> BTC if selected by user

E) Implementation - class to update latest prices of USD -> All fiat currencies and BTC -> All crypto currencies

alternatively, with same or even higher importance:

F) Supporter. Let people know. Anyone who can either use this later or might be able to help.
31  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Accept any coin on: January 17, 2014, 12:39:07 AM
So we talked with artw1982 and decided to proceed with this.

Development will start tomorrow and source will be available on GitHub.

 - accept most available altcoins (or pick & choose)
 - either zero fees or very minimal fees (if necessary)
 - keep the money in altcoins or have them automatically transfered to Bitcoin (not available for all altcoins)
 - use anywhere in world - set your prices in any currency you like
 - new altcoin devs can easily add support for their coin

Let's enable easy commerce for all the altcoins out there!
32  Bitcoin / Project Development / Accept any coin on: January 16, 2014, 07:37:24 PM
I'd like to start an open source project. The goal is to create a service where anyone can accept any type of crypto currency.

I would personally implement support for first 10 cryptocurrencies and then anyone could easily add a "module" to the service to accept yet another altcoin.

This way there is no need for people to decide if it's worth to add suport for accepting LTC or NXT payments.. one app does it all.

And for coins that can be programmatically traded for Bitcoins on major exchanges, there would be option for automatic conversion into BTC.

Can you guys see the need? Anyone wants to get involved?
33  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Buying VS Bra with Bitcoin Donations NSFW [edited] on: January 16, 2014, 06:32:57 PM
I appreciate the effort but I'd rather see stuff like this off the forums. We would benefit from having more females in the Bitcoin community, and I think they won't feel welcome if first thing they see is a bunch of guys cheering up for pics of someones boobs.

Not to say it's bad. It's just not appropriate if we want mixed genders here. If we continue on this path, the forum will remain a sausage party that it is today.

I'd suggest you make your own site and grow your audience there, or make a FB page and get some exposure that way for bra pics.

However you are more than welcome to share any other creative efforts here on the forums!

True, women run away and start crying at the near sight of a Victoria secrets store.

I read about bitcoin when it was at $10 but then I saw a boob and I got scared away.

I think women would be more scare at the fact that a girl gets called names for showing a pic wearing a bra. Go to a beach anywhere in the world, you will see way more skin than what I showed. Oh wait, maybe you shouldn't go. You may start calling women horrible names.

Please don't get offended. I didn't call you anything. What I said is that it's not very welcoming for other girls who might want to join the community.

35  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CoinCollab - Physical Coin Card on: January 16, 2014, 05:49:05 PM
When I send BTC to the card, will it stay in BTC and gets converted to USD the day I spend it?

What is the conversion rate from BTC to USD?

You will have to be specific if you want to get anyone interested.
37  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Could Bitcoin eliminate spam forever? on: January 15, 2014, 11:41:00 PM
Mining Bitcoin and sending spam bottleneck at different resources (ASIC or GPU utilization, network bandwidth). There's no reason not to do both.

Fair point, although sending out spam gets you discovered much faster (ISP blocking that person) than mining bitcoin. If you mine on GPU while not used, it's unlikely the user or his ISP will ever find out.
38  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Place LIMIT orders on Coinbase - online app on: January 15, 2014, 05:52:27 PM
Must be some legal/regulatory reason that Coinbase does not offer this....

But they do support the Android Coinbase Trader which does it. It's featured in their app list. Maybe they're just trying to keep things minimal.
39  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Place LIMIT orders on Coinbase - online app on: January 15, 2014, 05:33:31 PM
Right now we have about 22 users.

Just curious, how many of those users have connected their Coinbase account? Great site, although I personally don't use Coinbase to trade because of their high 1% fee.

Right now 13 of 25. If you don't trade them back and forth, but simply buy and hold, the price is not bad.
40  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Could Bitcoin eliminate spam forever? on: January 14, 2014, 11:38:57 PM
Bitcoin will end spam, but in a different way.

If you create malvare to sit on someone's PC, the easiest way to monetize it is to rent infected PCs to send spam. So that's what's happening.

Sending spam is not very profitable compared to mining.

When more hackers find out that it's more profitable to use that malware to mine bitcoins, less of them will send out spam.

And sending spam will become much more costly up to a point that it's not worth it anymore.
