I was very lucky! I must have been one of the last people to get their money out of MtGox before they froze funds and ultimately shut down. This was exactly why I had been intending to transfer my bitcoins out of there for safekeeping in my own wallet instead. I had procrastinated for a while on it though, and just a couple weeks more of delay, and I would have been too late!

Thanks for sharing your ideas.

I do a similar technique as the original poster, however, I named my security "mBTC" because bitcoin denominations have so many decimal places. I just multiply all my trade quantities by 1000 and divide the price by the same. This works well because Quicken is setup to handle lots of decimal places in a security's price, but not so many in its shares.

For example, buying 5 bitcoin for $250.45 would go in as:
5,000 mBTC @ $0.25045

The other difference in what I do is that I mark network transfer fees using ShrsOut transactions in the investment account. This workaround isn't ideal because they show up as cost basis related transactions when you generate a capital gains report, but it's the best I could come up with. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has a better solution here.

I think maybe it's just random coincidence that the transaction signatures end up containing the same signatures that some virus detection programs use. There are gigabytes of essentially random data in the blockchain, and so there is a good chance of a random match.

Is that correct?

Just to update here... The ~20BTC withdrawal finally hit my Bitcoin address AFTER 5 DAYS!
I never got any reply from MtGox in that time either on my support ticket.  So lame!

I will look for a new exchange now for future needs.

As referenced in thread... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=324918.0 But I'm a NOOB, so I can only post here.  Grrrrr.

On 2013-12-31 11:45 UTC, I did a ~20 BTC withdrawal.  The transaction ID they gave me is nowhere on the blockchain, and the amount has not been credited to my wallet.  BUT the amount instantly debited from my Mt.Gox account.

Support has not responded to my inquir at all.

I am worried, and frustrated with Mt.Gox.  Think I will never use them again.

Anyone else have any experiences like this recently?  And did it work out OK?
