21  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: SLAX CryptoMiner Distro on: February 14, 2014, 09:02:52 PM
Hmmm, okay, so the two bugs I've gotten so far are;

1) I can't SSH in and start a rig - it won't report temp data if you do that.

2) 2 of the 7 rigs don't boot at all, and just hang at "looking for slax data in /slax...."

Great work so far!

Ongoing edit saga of getting this going, hehe.  So, what I've found now is that if I start the miner from the actual computer, ie mouse and keyboard, I get the GPU temps reported correctly, but if I ssh in and start cgminer, then I can't get temps.  It's weird because anubis will even get temp data when I start it locally, but gets 0's if I start remotely.

3% premine?  HAHAHAHAHA

Most obvious pump and dump yet.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 07, 2014, 11:20:47 PM
As I sit here contemplating everything that has happened with this launch, including:

1. Convenient DDOS attack on bitcointalk, allowing time for cudaminer version to be built
2. Incomplete and non-functional software released to most people that wanted to mine, allowing insiders to "not pre-mine, but really pre-mine" the coin
3. Convenient DDOS attacks on pools, limiting coins earned
4. Coins missing from pools
5. Manipulated exchanges driving coin prices

I start to wonder what the next scam will be that's perpetrated here. And so, I'd like to offer 1 VTC or 1 UTC (your choice, both coins are far superior to this one) to the person that accurately predicts what scam comes next. If everything is smooth sailing from here out - great! I'm almost in awe of everything that's happened so far, though, so I'm just eagerly waiting to see what comes next.

I keep saying this was the best disguised pre-mine ever.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 07, 2014, 09:41:49 PM
This was the best disguised pre-mine I've ever seen.

Instead of just saying "fuck you, we're taking X blocks", they instead made it impossible for pools to actually be setup and didn't share stratum source code and didn't let anyone except other "devs" that they were "working with" get setup beforehand.

So what happened is that their friends, who already had it working were able to mine it immediately and the rest of us got fucked.  They knew it would happen - this is a whole new algorithm and people have to set it up.  They knew there'd be a learning curve, but by not allowing anyone to see it beforehand, they purposely fucked over anyone who wasn't involved in the first place.

For example, I heard, and I don't know this first hand so take that into account, that the guy who wrote Cudaminer personally mined 500 blocks.  Makes sense, since he's got his CPU mining shit down right?  Well that's ONE SIXTH of the current total coin supply.

So congratulations, all these coins you're mining, and there's a dude who's ALREADY a millionaire because he has so many.

I had such high hopes for this coin, and its proved itself to just be another shitcoin with a shitty launch and misleading devs.
26  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Larger than 0.0001 fee on less than 1kb transaction? on: February 07, 2014, 06:52:19 PM
Hey, I'm trying to figure this out and any help would be appreciated:
If you take a look at https://blockchain.info/tx/8b48f30c51aa24833789e9964e3952b8c9cbaa8966c29b65dc9e23229349e437
I'm setting up a website to process coins coming in/out, so I had received 0.01014, and tried to send 0.01 to the new address, with a tx fee of 0.0001, then move the 0.00004 to a different account
eg:
$coin->settxfee(0.0001);
$tx = $coin->sendfrom(ACCOUNT,ADDR,0.01);
$move = $coin->move(ACCOUNT,FEES,0.00004);

As you can see from the blockchain tho, it took 0.00014 as the fee, which at 192 bytes it seems like it should've taken the minimum right?

These funds weren't aged at all and were immediately sent on, so I'm not sure if thats part of the problem?

Thanks for any help, I'm really at a loss.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: ***Pixelcoin Buy/Sell (PXL)*** Buy or sell a piece of internet history!! on: January 18, 2014, 05:37:24 PM
Selling PXL at 0.05 BTC/100 PXL.

Difficulty is going up, hashrate is more than double what it was at the last change, PXL is just going to get more expensive.  Buy them now before they're 0.1/100.

PM me, can do either 100 chunks with you sending first, or we use escrow.  *NO EXCEPTIONS* Not down for scammers.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN - NEW COIN LAUNCH] *PXL COIN* Use coins to upload your image to our site! on: January 18, 2014, 12:10:51 AM
this would make the client experience more user-friendly and reduce the stress on everyone rushing to get images completely finalized before releasing them on the site, or being hit with a big charge for a typo or a change of spec. this proposed model is used by some services which offer similar features for the same reasons stated.

^ This is why I'm hesitating to actually use my PXL to put up an image yet.

The idea of 1-2% for the first one or two changes in a certain time frame, say 3 months seems reasonable, and then increasing costs to prevent misuse.  Larger fees for one time services, like making a space changeable, transferring ownership, etc seems straightforward enough.

Have to say, really like where pxl is going.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN - NEW COIN LAUNCH] *PXL COIN* Use coins to upload your image to our site! on: January 17, 2014, 08:35:17 PM
Does anyone know why the pools don't show the total net hashrate?  They only show their own?  Also, what's the retarget time on PXL?
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN - NEW COIN LAUNCH] *PXL COIN* Use coins to upload your image to our site! on: January 17, 2014, 03:01:38 PM
Are you going to be able to change the image later?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][COYE] Coinye Coin - UPDATE on: January 14, 2014, 05:53:25 PM
You can't lose money at this point, you can only make it. Smiley
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][COYE] Coinye Coin - UPDATE on: January 14, 2014, 05:22:26 PM
Honestly guys, screw the devs.  We have coinye-exchange.com coming up this week, we're working on a twitter and reddit tipbot, more gambling things on the way, the only thing the dev really did was try to hype it.  And guess what?  We don't need anyone to hype it, Kanye keeps making that happen for us.  No other coin has had this kind of free publicity.

So look, there's not going to be any magical coin that you can mine a metric shit fuck ton of and then dump for millions of dollars, because everyone else is doing the same thing  - it's always been up to the community to get things out there to make this shit take off.  No one magically made DOGE be in demand.  If we pull this shit together, new devs, and stronger community support can really make a huge difference.

Quite frankly, if the community doesn't try to capitalize on all this free press, it'd be a singular opportunity lost.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Coinyeeeee Buy/Sell Thread on: January 13, 2014, 04:56:41 PM
Before you keep arguing with CoinThinker, he was offering to pay twice that on IRC, then trying to finagle people into not using escrow.  Not saying anything, just be aware.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: January 05, 2014, 10:16:34 PM
Mohammed Akram, which apparently also goes by Muhammed Akram or Mohammed Jafar Akram or Mohammed Mubasher Akram. When looking these personas up with relation to Alpha Technologies, their birth years come up as 1948, 1987, and 1990, respectively.

To be fair, that could easily be a father and two sons.  Mohammed is a very common name for a large percentage of the world.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: January 05, 2014, 07:52:03 PM
I don't understand why anyone pre-ordered... did anyone actually read the technical papers they posted? https://alpha-t.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Scrypt_ASIC_Prototyping_Design_Document.pdf

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but if you go to the last page, it says right there that their two projected speeds for their two models are 510KH/s and 2 MH/s.  NOT 5MH/s and 25MH/s.  So worst case scenario you're getting scammed, best case scenario you're getting less than 1/10th what you paid for...
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WARNING! Do not trade in Coinex.pw on: January 05, 2014, 03:46:41 PM
Coinex has worked great for me on several occasions.  They have fewer glitches than cryptsy anyways.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinye West is your newest Bitcoin-inspired cryptocurrency on: January 05, 2014, 03:33:07 PM

Isn't Doge pretty much dying now they hype has died off?

Depends on what you mean by dying off.  It's still #5 on coinwarz, and has been hovering around there.  What's been killing it has been the massive amounts of mining thrown at it.  And it's about a month old now... a straight up joke would've already crashed by now.  It does have a couple shops, reddit tips, etc... more than coinye will have at this rate.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinye West is your newest Bitcoin-inspired cryptocurrency on: January 05, 2014, 03:10:34 PM
It certainly has possibility.  DOGE coin has held up moderately, and that was mostly post-launch publicity.  There's so much media talk about it right now, that if they can actually manage to capitalize on it, it might be okay.  But that also means its going to have a lot of mining at start, so they need to develop some services in advance, quite frankly.  And I've been sitting here watching the "devs" on the IRC channel, and I don't really see it getting much support at all, so at this rate its going to be nothing but a pump and dump - even tho cryptsy is going to list it right off.
