21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello! Its me... on: September 03, 2018, 10:40:36 PM
Well welcome to the forum. I'm sure if you're from Venezuela you have plenty of interesting stories to tell in the politics section and with the petro cryptocurrency, look forward to seeing your future posts!  Smiley
22  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The black blockchain summit on: September 03, 2018, 09:06:24 AM
Black blockchain summit! WTF. This is really sad.  Cry

As a white male i despair when i see this. I'm in the UK and we are force-fed multiculturalism and diversity and when i see events such as this being allowed all i think is that anyone who isn't black is not welcome. I have friends from multiple racial backgrounds and race/colour/creed is irrelevant.

If we are all to get along as human beings, events like this are most definitely not the answer.

Can't believe in the supposed civilized world 2018 we are still talking about peoples race and skin colour! SMH!  Embarrassed
23  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why EOS is actually killing the market on: September 02, 2018, 05:32:27 PM
EOS has the potential to be great, but at the minute if you are an Eth holder they are an absolute nightmare!

The obscene amount of ETH raised in their ICO (every day for a year!) was simply eye watering and not necessary. With having a significant amount of ETH they are most definitely capable of surpressing the price of ETH for a long time, in the hope of making a platform that can rival them.

Dan Larimer knew what he was doing by raising all that money thats for sure.
24  Economy / Economics / Re: why the bitcoin bubble hasn't fully burst | CNBC on: September 02, 2018, 04:21:35 PM
I like many others are a bit sick of the crap that is spewed by CNBC. Virtually every bullish prediction they make- the opposite happens and vice-versa!  Cheesy

At the end of the day, its the people decide how much its worth and how much they are willing to pay for BTC, and as long as we have newcomers coming into crypto, the virus will spread, and then hopefully one day we are laughing about when Bitcoin was $20,000.
25  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Petrol is virtually free in Venezuela, but not for long. on: September 02, 2018, 09:33:44 AM
I think its about the only thing thats free there!

Seen the news a few nights back about how the hospitals had next to no nurses or doctors there as their monthly salary was the equivalent of the price of a loaf of bread! A woman was sitting there with a broken leg, who was told it'll be at least 1-2 months for an operation.

If petrol is free i'd be filling my car up and getting out of there as quick as i could!  Wink
26  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies, Bounties & spam. on: September 02, 2018, 09:04:20 AM
Well the Google forms is definitely a step in the right direction, it means the member still has to come to the forum to fill the form, but bitcointalk dosen't have to host a bunch of pointless information as its essentially been outsourced to google forms. Plus the forum still keeps its web traffic using this method so seems like a win-win.

This should be mandatory across all bounties really, in an effort to tidy-up the forum.
27  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies, Bounties & spam. on: September 01, 2018, 11:08:40 PM
Good answers there Pharmacist!  Wink

Like yourself i thought it was tolerated that spamming went on but frowned upon at the same time! Huh Can only assume its for the reasons we mentioned

Its a genuine Catch22 scenario where you need the traffic to maintain the forum ranking but you have to put up with the crap that comes with it i guess.

I just think its a real pity that you have some wonderful content and posters on here, buy you really have to dig through the mud to find it. It shouldn't be that way on a forum with a specific niche(s), just a pity there isn't a solution to keep everyone happy.
28  Other / Meta / Newbies, Bounties & spam. on: September 01, 2018, 07:43:13 PM
Even though i haven't been here long, i've seen an influx of crappy/irrelevant posts and the same topic being repeated day after day- god only knows how some of you must feel who have seen the same thing hundreds or possibly several thousand times.  Cry

Obviously i can see due to the amount of posts in Meta, that a lot of people are fed up of seeing the same crap posted day in day out. The real shame is that you have to practically hunt for something decent these days in amongst the sea of spam that plagues the site. Everyone has a say and can put forward an idea so i thought i'd give it a shot too!

I know that the bounties here are more than likely making up a large portion of website traffic. I totally understand that to stay at the top of the alexa rankings, you need website traffic and by eliminating newbies entirely- you also get rid of a shitload of traffic.

So is it not a possibility that in future we could have new bounties initially posted here as per usual in the ANN section, then any 'work' i.e. reporting of what the member done that week and contact details posted, social media links, telegram names etc etc, hosted somewhere else on a sister website a Bountybtctalk for example? Would this not rid the forum of a good chunk of piss poor posts?

Another thing i wonder is, why do bounty campaigns have posting requirements if the stuff that is posted is utter crap?

Is it not prudent to eliminate excessive posting requirements and in doing so eradicating a lot of needless comments and hopefully a better standard of posting within the forum could naturally bring people here, those who actually want to come and read organic posts instead of bounty requirement posts?

Obviously i know what i mentioned has its possible drawbacks in terms of website traffic, the rest is just general wondering why this actually goes on here when we all know the issues it creates?  Huh
29  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEWBIE Guide me guys . What to do and what not. on: August 31, 2018, 11:59:08 AM
Hi, i'm no pro here by any stretch of the imagination  Cheesy but in terms of what you are looking for, this depends entirely on what it is you want from this place?

Are you looking for trading tips, info on Bitcoin/Altcoins, mining, scams, forum behaviour? the list goes on and on...

As a friendly suggestion, i'd just elaborate a little on what you're looking for and i'm sure there will be someone here who would happily point you in the right direction, alternatively there is a search bar in the top right hand corner if you are looking for something a little more specific.

Anyway, i hope this helps and i welcome you to the forum.  Grin
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: the ways comment in this forum for beginner on: August 31, 2018, 11:51:11 AM
I mean this in the nicest possible way- i really don't understand what this thread is about, only that its presumably aimed at beginners Huh

I can see you've been here a while, though i'd absolutely recommend that you have a look at the Fit to talk site, which is hosted by a senior member on here. You'll honestly find a ton of helpful information.

Here is the link: https://fittotalk.com/english-talk/index.php?
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello! I'm stumped and impatient on: August 31, 2018, 10:25:02 AM
Hello OP, with all due respect its sounds like you don't know whether you are coming or going!?  Huh

I'd really suggest trawling through this site to find out what it is that you are looking for as if i'm honest i found it quite hard to decipher your post!  Cheesy and. I mean no disrespect honestly, i think you should give yourself a little more education on crypto first before making any rash decisions. Bitcoin faucets (in my opinion) are not worth the time of day and half of them look like they will have malware on them and browser hijackers- plus the returns are next to nothing, so is it really worth your time?

I hope you make your fortune though, its not going to come overnight but there is some great info on here to help you make a few bucks- you just have to find out what you are looking for.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it just me or everyone is concerned? on: August 28, 2018, 04:14:52 PM
Glad you brought this up actually, i was wondering the same thing.

I was a little concerned that if the price dropped then it would be catastrophic because of what you mentioned.

The other thing that kind of worries and excites me at the same time is- what happens when the halving starts in 2020? Miners will be receiving half the reward for mining so what does that mean? Does the price of Bitcoin have to be very high (higher than what it is now which i expect) to make mining profitable? Or does it mean that its not going to be financially worth it if it hasn't reached these levels?

If anyone could enlighten us i'd be grateful!  Wink
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie how you can detect phishing Airdrop on: August 28, 2018, 10:09:15 AM
I have become disillusioned with Airdrops for a while now. So many of them are not actually airdrops anymore and are more like bounties where you have to jump through hoops to get a few bucks- not for me! Embarrassed

However, i thought i'd add to this post that i have seen a good few fake twitter accounts of certain ICO's and their follower count is high (sometimes as high as the actual pagemaking them look legitimate, so a lot of people will fall into the trap and fill in the fake google form and give all their details away to some petty scammer who will spam the life out of your email address at best.

34  Bitcoin / Project Development / Identified a niche- where to start. Suggestions please on: August 28, 2018, 09:51:14 AM
Hello everyone, i'm not too sure if this is the right place for this, so if there is a better place for this post to be hosted then firstly i apologise and secondly feel free to move to the relevant board.

Ok, so i have an idea at the minute that i think is definitely relevant in crypto and will almost certainly be needed in the future aswell as right now. I'm not wanting to talk about the idea for obvious reasons but i can say i have done my due diligence and i genuinely think i've spotted a niche in the market that i think is needed.

I'm asking you kindly for your opinions (or experience if you have any) on how you would go about starting from an idea to turning it into a reality and what steps to take initially?

I appreciate any input you may have.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Could Fall to $3,000, Says One of Crypto’s Most Bullish VCs on: August 27, 2018, 07:59:29 PM
Well it could go to a million dollars if you listen to other guys who are bullish and supposedly experts.  Cheesy

Truth is nobody knows, you just have to educate yourself and make your own decisions. I stopped listening to so-called experts a long time ago- they generally get it wrong! Think of CNBC, every time they make a prediction it does the opposite!  Wink
36  Other / Off-topic / Re: Soon we would not need banks on: August 27, 2018, 07:52:45 PM
Despite what many people may think or hope, we are a looooooong way from the end of banks!

Crypto is still very much in its infancy. Yes there is lots of activity right now in the crypto scene, but theres a lot of crap needs to be flushed down the toilet first! Banks still play a very important role and i think will continue to do do for a long time yet- certainly in the western world where i am.

Also crypto has to appeal to the majority of people before any such statement could be made. At present- we are a long way off!

It might be the end of banks in some countries who have corrupt governments and/or currency that is hyperinflated, but thats not happening where i am and i don't envisage it anytime soon either.
37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If I am not good at constructive post then I can't get merit. on: August 26, 2018, 11:09:59 AM
Too many people here obsess over Merit.

What i'd say to you is it is absolutely possible to gain recognition here even if English is not your first language. Just this morning Coolcryptovator made a post that explained that he does not speak English too well, and that's fine! What they have done is made the effort to learn in their spare time to become a better poster, and by at least attempting to give it a go.

Another newbie in this thread is Helana who already has 7 merits and only been here a very short time. Another person who admittedly does not speak great English but is taking the necessary steps to try and correct that.

All i'd say to the OP is....forget about Merit for now! You've already identified your issue (your English not being great) so take the steps to correct that, if other people are doing it then i'm sure you can too, and i sincerely hope you do.  Smiley

38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Motivational post] Don't be disappointed, still you can upgrade your rank. on: August 26, 2018, 09:11:37 AM
You've hit the nail on the head with this post Coolcryptovator.  Smiley

Its my opinion that people who are new here are able to see the positive side of the forum, to see people who have successfully integrated into the community and became a valued member even if English isn't their primary language.

It wouldn't bother me one little bit if i seen spelling mistakes or grammar issues with someones post. I think what the vast majority of us look for on here is the actual effort someone has put into making content, writing a post, or creating something that is helpful to others.

Newbies- particularly non english speaking people- should look to people like yourself as inspiration and know that it is possible to rank up here- if you want to, and good for you that you've been able to do it!  Smiley

39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Starting amount on: August 25, 2018, 11:45:54 AM
This depends entirely on your position financially and what you are comfortable with. Anyone who has been in crypto/Bitcoin for a while knows only too well that you can lose a LOT of money quickly if you don't know what you are doing.

I'd suggest learning a lot about specific coins and projects before diving in. Look for projects that have real life use cases and not empty promises.

There is tons of information on here that can point you towards good investments, however the final decision has to be your own. The golden rule here is- i really would only suggest investing what you can afford to lose.

There are no guarantees what will or won't succeed. So please do your due diligence before parting with any of your cash.  Smiley
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Desktop and mobile cryptocurrency wallets on: August 25, 2018, 08:56:25 AM
In agreement with the above posts. First rule about Merit club is don't talk about it! It makes it look as if you have made this thread specifically for the intention of receiving merit as opposed to actually being useful, which is a shame really as i'd have considered meriting your post if indeed you have went to the effort of actually posting useful info.

You've kind of shot yourself in the foot here buddy, so i hope you will learn from this. Just enjoy the forum, look and learn and don't obsess over getting recognition to your posts. It'll come naturally if you post naturally.
