I was standing outside of 20Mission tonight talking with Jered Kenna when we were informed by a random woman passing by that “Bitcoin is hacked and dead”.  - Kraken CEO

I am hearing from a lot of people that they heard Bitcoin is dead.  The general public seems to think this is true.

What a golden opportunity!

Luke, if you've got some Marketing Plan - this is the time to execute, the Giant has fallen, Bitcoin is on its knees, what better time to introduce a perfect replacement, an exact Bitcoin Twin, to the world, than when most think Bitcoin is dead?

We have to move quickly on this if we're gonna move at all.

Not sure if this is the only opportunity, but it is one we should grab with both hands as a community. Although getting everything ready will take days. Which with this much information getting spammed by the hour, is too late.

Hi. I doubt the general public think Bitcoin is dead. I've been following articles around the world and whilst most of them refer to the lost or stolen funds and failure of Mt. Gox it has given leaders in the Bitcoin community a chance to explain the situation and give Bitcoin context. Whilst it gave those who seek Bitcoin's demise a chance to use recent events to feed their scare tactics of Bitcoin is dead or the Bubble is bursting etc much of the journalism is neutral and isn't slanted against Bitcoin.

I believe it is for the above reasons that the price of Bitcoin has recovered to USD$580 level despite three full days of heavy media coverage including mainstream media. This issue won't hurt Bitcoin's brand it will help it. It gives Bitcoin and those promoting it additional exposure. More and more people will search it in Google to learn more about it due to this media frenzy. Most of what people will find is positive information not negative.

It is time that the website gets finished and www.ixcoin.co is setup and we capture this additional traffic and interest.

Regards, Luke.

What happens to the massive premine that Thomas N. aka Old Miner did?

Does it go away in the re-brand?

~BCX~

Disclosure: I currently hold over 200,000 ixc from the 2011 days.

2.5% was not massive and even if it were, how do we get it from the weasel if he's gone?  My guess is he spent it long ago.  At least it wasn't more than 2.5%.  Many more iXcoins than that have been lost over the years so we're pretty even, except the weasel got a free ride.

Technically, we could fork the chain to basically invalidate his coins. This is a BAD idea, and we shouldn't do it. Just saying that it's possible.

Also, forget about an iOS app.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion and feedback. I've taken it on board.

Regards, Luke.

Weekend is over and not a word from anyone.  Not even to answer posted questions.

What bizarre behavior on the eve of a huge relaunch.  I have no idea what to make of this but it's very disappointing.

Very Thomas-ish.

Hi,

I just spent the past 3 days moving house. I've been doing bits and pieces of the website in between. You will have noticed changes over the past few days. I just have to finish them off tonight and tomorrow. Like you said. I work in the background Smiley

Regards, Luke.

Luke,

Glad to hear the site will be ready this weekend.

But any word on the android wallet? Cause we still can't launch without that.

Also, you mentioned SMS functionality in your roadmap, will that also be done when we launch or is that something much farther down the road.

Thanks.

I'll be finalising the website this weekend. I can't say as to when the other wallets will be completed as yet because I'm still in the initial stages of arranging their development.

Regards, Luke.

About the website: I hope ixcoin.org will simply mirror what ixcoin.co will be. The reason is simple: I made an effort to convince websites to update the address of the official website, while others did not do it. Having both it will give anyone the chance to be updated to the last developments.

The previous host for ixcoin.org wants $85 because of the bandwidth over-usage charge. I had no idea a $5/year hosting plan could generate $85 without blocking the account way before for over-usage. I'm not sure it is worth going back to this host if such things are possible. I'd like to find another cheap host to host the old ixcoin.org page. I'm fine with ixcoin.org mirroring ixcoin.co if everybody else is. ixcoin.co would need a bit of cleanup first though. Can we use the old logo?

Hi,

Thanks for offering to split the bounty between a few of us. It will certainly help us all take ixc to the next stage. The community voted on the logos among other things here https://tricider.com/en/multiBrainstorming/CNvk

Factoring in fake or double votes, results from voting determined that the linked IXC symbol within a thick circle was the most desired logo with the option of retro theme in future.

The community website you've seen is almost finished and is hosted and built using wix.com

The site should be finished this weekend. I wouldn't bother with that existing hosting firm. Can you point the domain to the community website DNS or is ixcoin.org locked until they receive payment?

Regards, Luke

OH, fuck me!

Welcome back, brother.  Take a look, I kept your name alive and even fought for your legacy!

But I still wanna punch you in the face for leaving me alone with these mindless [premine] hoards all these long months.  lol.

Don't dare take off again!   And YES, dot ORG is a must have.  And the twitter account.

Thanks for helping carry the IXC torch! Much appreciated.

Hello,

Luke Connell here. I've been following crypto-currencies for a while and after reviewing what's out there I determined that rather than create another altcoin it would be better to reinvigorate iXcoin.

I shared the following post with the community and then from there a few of us have been in discussions on the approach moving forward. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=432578.0

I've been working on a new website, roadmap and strategy for iXcoin in collaboration with the small but active community. http://lukeconnellau.wix.com/ixcoin-v3

It would be good to chat on skype to discuss iXcoin in further detail.

Regards, Luke.

What's the difference if the exchange is established in Australia, or other countries, for example Slovenia (like Bitstamp), Bulgaria (like BTC-e) or .... Romania.

I'm not sure what you're asking.

No difference other than Eastern Bloc countries are full of hackers and scammers.  But so far the exchanges in those countries have done well so that gives me hope.  But if I had to choose I would put my money in a US, UK or Australian exchange before one in say Russia or Romania.  Better safe than sorry.

Hi everyone,

The regulatory, policy, compliance and political environments are usually different in each country. Two compliance requirements of operating an exchange anywhere will be AML/CTF (Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Rules) and the other being taxation requirements.

Setting up a USD/IXC exchange is fundamental to IXC moving forward. In saying that Cryptsy is currently working on accepting USD and once that happens they will likely make it convertible with most of the altcoins on the site.

I'm currently investigating the feasibility of establishing a legally compliant exchange in Australia.

Regards, Luke.

Luke,

I just watched the 2 videos in the education tab.  I really like the animated video:  What is Bitcoin?

My question is, are these iXcoin's videos - I mean, did you make them or did you find them on the web and used them on our site.  The same goes for the other video:  What is money?

I'm wondering if these will be exclusive videos as it would add a lot to the originality of the site.

Great videos by the way.  Thanks.

Hello Vlad,

Those videos are not iXcoin at this stage. I'm sourcing specific videos that I felt communicate the information in 2 or 3 minutes or less and that are easy to understand.

Text posts or text with the videos will be unique to the website as I will type it up. This can be amended over time.

New videos custom built for iXcoin with targeted messages etc will need to be created by engagement with the iXcoin and digital media communities. I can start engagement later in the week. The what is money video doesn't need to be customised to iXcoin as it is addressing the wider concept as will any videos on banking etc.

What is Bitcoin will educate users on the basic concept of Bitcoin and iXcoin. The text with it will be the bridge to explain how iXcoin differs from Bitcoin until a formal and professional What is iXcoin video is produced.

Hope that provides further clarity.

Regards, Luke.

Hello. I have a problem after copying the 2 files over the ixcoin installed wallet.

Hi,

Did you use the client from the below post by Frictionlesscoin?

iXcoin 0.8.6 beta for Windows ready for testing:

Download here:  https://sourceforge.net/projects/ixcoin-ng/files/iXcoin/ixcoin-0.8.6/beta/

"To know iXcoin is to know Money, Banking and Bitcoin."

I don't know who came up with that on the education tab of the new site but it's great.  I love it!

You're welcome. Time to educate the world

Luke, quick question.  I see the new site still shows LukeConnell.  That's not gonna be the IP address when it's done, right?  What will be the home address?  I know we have the dot co domain but it would be great to get the dot org one back.

I've been trying to reach Thomas but no luck at all.

Rumors are iXcoin was a contract job by a mystery entity, so we have no idea who the actual original dev was.

Just as mysterious as Bitcoin.  Quite rhe twin.

Hi Vlad,

If by IP address you're referring to the web address Url then its going to remain long until the website is finished. It was not intended to be used to promote the site and is purely for the iXcoin community to contribute and follow the sites development. Once the website is finished www.ixcoin.co will become the main address .co representing community.

We will also create custom domains targeted to specific markets in non english speaking countries.

Enjoy!

Hi,

How easy is it to change the application icon and the taskbar icons from a red dot with a white letter I to the new red or black ring with IXC in the middle?

Regards, Luke.

Don't you all think it's very odd that we're so close to a major and massive relaunch and Friction has all but disappeared?

He was one of the few as gung-ho as me about iXcoin and now it's as if he's lost his interest or something.  I don't understand what's going on, he was very active and then, a few days ago he just dropped off the radar.

It's bad enough we hardly ever see Luke, now friction is a ghost.

What kind of crappy relaunch are we gonna have with the 2 main devs hardly ever here?

Take a chill pill Vlad.

I've updated the social hub with an alternative chat platform. It leaves less room for the social feed and also doesn't allow for random guest chatters. That's an issue I think. Not everyone wants to signin with their facebook or google, on the other hand, those that do will be better mannered and well behaved.

Hey Guys

I took a stab at the iXcoin "coin logo"

It seems the community is leaning towards the red versions that I was presented with. That said that is the first design direction I went with.

A few things to keep in mind. Red and Black first of all, are my favorite colors. Problem with this color combination is that it generally gives off a "aggressive" "powerful" and some times "evil" feel.

I realize that a re brand / rebirth of this coin is the main goal, along with mass acceptance, and the ability to do good. So we may want to stay away from such sinister colors. A better direction maybe a more modern approach with a modern color palette and modern feel. "Soft and pastel'ly" is what I call it. Smiley This will not only aid in acceptance, but make it a lot easier to design around and keep the "brand" uniform.

Aside from the red and black version being my favorite. My next favorite would be the bottom most coin. It is simple, with a horizon type gradient, that feels more "today"

In any event take a look at the examples and let me know your thoughts. I'm a seasoned freelance graphic designer (10+ yrs) So I'm well past the point of being in love with anything I design... so I won't get all butt hurt over some constructive criticism Cheesy

Hi.

You designs are nice. I think they would serve as a great foundation for any 3D printed iXcoin using 100% recyclable plastic with the address on the plastic coin. Could work something like this: http://www.titanbtc.com/what-is-a-titan-bitcoin/

Certainly has potential.

Hello,

I'm taking a fairly active role taking iXcoin mainstream and would like to request a live ticker for Google extensions be made for IXC on Cryptsy. Please advise if this is possible and how soon we could have this built. Happy to donate towards the effort.

I think his problem is he can't send out of the Windows wallet.

I was planning to register them in the coming days if it is determined to be a winning layout. Although now you have broadcast them to potential domain name hijackers I doubt they will be available! Tongue

I need to test sending from mine. I've never tried lol. Maybe that's why no one sells what they buy on cryptsy lol
