24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: btc mining w/ Nvidia on: June 14, 2011, 09:14:40 AM
Since it is not much better to mine with a NVIDIA card than it is with a CPU (because of the architecture), i guess that the miner software is ignoring any graphiccards that are not from ATI or ATI-based.
I was once able to use my NVIDIA card with the Diablo miner ..maybe you give it a try with it.

Shares: 0 Accepted                                 550 khash/s

oh "khash" ..missed that one. with 0.55 mhash you really need a long time to get a share.
What kind of hardware do you use?
26  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Zero Shares- Something Wrong? on: June 14, 2011, 08:46:10 AM
Try to use some more communicative miners like Diablo or poclbm.
They are command line though, but usually telling a bit more in detail where the problem is.

Sorry, just sitting here with a proxied smartphone and i have no clue about the guiminer.
Try to look for a similar problem in the guiminer thread or wait for other people able to help (there seem to be other threads with similar problems like here)

edit: try to use other mining clients as well: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=16766.msg217327#msg217327

Try to look at the "guiminer.log": http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=16769.msg217234#msg217234

There should be a "guiminer.log" somewhere - i guess there will be more details in it.
I am not using that gui, so i am not able to tell you where exactly it is ..try to search for it in your system (maybe it is specified in some options)

Quoting myself -> http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=3878.msg56190#msg56190

"The console window is hidden by default. It can be shown in its own tab using Help -> Show Console. Log messages are also redirected to 'guiminer.log' in the executable directory if you want to look at them after."

33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I mine? on: June 14, 2011, 08:13:37 AM
Ok, so...I should be mining it seems.  Only other question would be...where?  Im currently using GUIMiner and have joined BTCGuild.  Is that aight or should I look elsewhere for GUI's or Pool to join?
That is pretty much up to yourself. I registered to a couple of pools, tried them all out and switched to that one i was most comfortable with.
There is no "best pool" and everybody is only able to tell you his/her prefered pool ..try them, compare them, stick to the ones you "like" Smiley

Does your client say anything about "Block XY found"? Please post some of your client output - otherwise we are just able to guess

It would help if you describe your problem in detail...  Roll Eyes

Sorry - I am a rookie. On my client I have a port number 8333. Should I change this? What do I do on my router? How do I forward that thing?

Sorry, it is port "8333" - mistyped it. Well, like swusc2 already wrote you need to search for your router in the internet and look for a tutorial. Look for keywords like "port forwarding <vendor> <model>".
37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: don't use this website on: June 14, 2011, 07:21:38 AM
For kicks, I renamed a 150kb jpg to wallet.dat.  This was the response:

Code:
YOUR BITCOIN WALLET WITH HASH d40a5e9f0e87bc7c32782f8aa349e6b861307b9c IS VALID FOR 2011-06-14T06:28:20UTC

Phew!  Glad I got that one sorted out, I was afraid my wallet wasn't working right!

lol - put that JPG into your bitcoin client - maybe some coins are hidden in it Wink
38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Block download frozen on: June 14, 2011, 06:37:26 AM
I had some problems as well (0-1 connections) and fixed it by adding a port forwarding rule (port 8333) in the router to my computer.
Guess the client got some problems to connect if there is no non-established way back.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Total time logged in not working on: June 14, 2011, 06:35:20 AM
Now it went from 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours 29 minutes...
Did you use the "Back"-Button? I occurs to me as well when i do that, but after a real refresh everything is fine.
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ebay buyers won't pay on: June 14, 2011, 06:34:07 AM
Like in the normal life and with other ebay goods - sometimes there are people like this.
If i were you and i had no chance to get with the buyer in contact (after a couple of days of course) i would try to contact the second best buyer or restart the auction.

Usually you can contact eBay and ask for help, but since Paypal (belongs to eBay) is a bit of a problem with Bitcoin it might be that they won't help you.
