21  Local / Español (Spanish) / Bitcoin community in Cuba ? on: December 22, 2013, 07:25:20 PM
Dear spanish speaking bitcoin community,

I am currently on vacation on cuba and met a very nice tour guide whom I tipped in bitcoin. He got very interested in the bitcoin concept and asked me how it'd be possible to convert his tip into his national currency (CUC). I could not answer this, since localbitcoins lists zero sellers and buyers on Cuba that take cash.

Is there a community in Cuba/Havanna I can refer to get him connected?

Please pm me.

Thank you
Best regards

29  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Dank Bank Deposits - low risk, fully insured - 3.0%-4.20% weekly on: August 21, 2012, 07:05:48 AM
I thought maybe I should share this. This 3-4.2% got my highly suspicous and I wanted to find out what the deal is, and how he can talk abut fully insured when he has no insurance nor collateral at all.

Dear Dank,

I saw your announcements in the Lending subforum and might be interested in a 1000+ BTC deposit.

Please explain how you can sustain such high interest.

Please also explain to me how you guarantee the principal from your own default and please outline how much reserves you provide as collateral at some trusted community member.

Also, a written contract would be a must have for me.

Best Regards

Hey there, I'm glad you're interested in investing.  The interest is sustainable because I know how much and how fast I can grow in size.  I may lower the interest for new deposits one day, or stop taking new investments alltogether. I can't guarantee I will be able to sustain it forever, but I would make my best attempt to pay out interest for as long as possible.  I think the plans of mine should allow for payments over a decade and probably further.  If for any reason I am unable to continue interest payments, without cutting into the reserve funds, I would return the principle in full.

I prefer not to explain explicityly how I generate the profit I do, but I can tell you I have many ideas for expansion that will allow for evergrowing revenue, upwards to 10 million dollars+.  I'm sure by that point I will have thought of new concepts to bring in higher amounts.

The current investments I make offer extremely high return rates, upwards of 500-1000%. It wouldn't take me long to come up with a reserve covering all of my investors, perhaps two to three months or so.  Due to the fact I manage all of my investments myself, I foresee no way I could end up defaulting, I'm going to grow until I burst (in a good sense, of course).

Would you like to write the contract or shall I?  If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you again in your interest to support my ventures,
Dank

Hi,

You have not answered my questions.

It is not enough that you don't think you will default, but you need to provide a way for the deposit to be covered in case you do. Either via a collateral at some trusted community member (perhaps Patrick or Ineededausername?) or yourself insured at CPA.

This is the only way I would invest substantial amounts into your "bank". Every other deposit taker that is handling larger amounts is doing that.

Best regards

To be honest, it does not bother me if you don't want to invest. I have given you my word that you won't lose your principle and it's up to you to trust me or not.

If you feel more comfortable starting with a lower deposit, that's fine as well.

Regards,
Dank

Sounds a little fishy to me. Won't answer my questions and can't provide details on his "insurance", hence I suspect there's none. Would definitely try to avoid it.

30  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcurexCards BCC from Bitcurex.com - available tomorrow from 18:00 CEST on: August 13, 2012, 01:54:58 PM
How would you load the card? Is loading the card free?

Can you load the card with BTC, or do you have to convert it to EUR (or any other currency) via your exchange first, and then load it?

Also, how do you handle the different/worse exchange rate at your site vs. mtgoxEUR?

For example, mtgoxEUR is 9.6010 now, while your latest bid is 9.00 EUR, so there's a very large spread and selling at 9.00 instead of 9.60 is essentially a 6.75% fee + your exchange fee.

It'd be much better if you were able to sell at mtgoxEUR market prices and load the card that way.

32  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin >> OKPAY deposit price drop! on: August 03, 2012, 01:21:57 PM
In reality, the fee is much higher than the stated 5.5%

Example: Current buy price for USD on OKPay:     9.817481  USD
Current last price on mtgox: 10.50 USD

Difference: 6.5%

The fees are way to high to consider this. Why is the fee so high? It should be a maximum of 3%, then it'd be acceptable.

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] RealCoin - Targeted to the IM world! on: January 17, 2012, 03:48:22 PM
Why don't you improve bitcoin instead of branching yet another alt chain?
There are thousands of people working on bitcoin projects. They're independent, none of them have "invented" bitcoin.

Pretty much none of the alt chain have given back code/ideas to bitcoin. I doubt it'll the case here.

I'd say this can be best planned alt currency so far. However, your motives and sayings can't hide your greed.

Well the best answer i can give you is the different target and the different execution. Apart from similar goals such as the desire to be an established currency which all coins want there can be different targets, goals, ways to do things.

I would say that the best way to explain it would be that RLC will lean towards becoming a free, decentralized PayPal with all the functionality that business owners, consumers, merchants etc. need not the functionality tech guys need. Approach the regular internet user not the experienced one.

Bitcoin is something beautiful and unique but at least for now it is closer/available to the experienced user rather than the average guy. In some months/years it might be the easiest thing to use for an average guy but at least for now it is far from that point.

RealCoin will try to fill this gap between the experienced user and the average user by providing a simple to use interface and all the necessary tools he needs to buy/sell/trade on the internet as well as the real world.

Also you should notice certain introductions, like the Fund, the R&D reserve and everything different stated in the OP.

As it has been stated, i hope both coins reach a point where there is a constant exchange of knowledge to create an eco system where numerous coins can co-exist.

I don't see anything that couldn't be done with bitcoins. There's no USP in this alt currency like in namecoin. It seems just like another alt currency with premined coins.

You're building exchanges around it.
You're building merchant integration around it.
You're bilding a faucet.
You're buidling escrow services around it.

All these things could be established with bitcoin too. Namecoin offers something unique, a new way of DNS. What is your USP?

Why another alt chain?

37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] RealCoin - Targeted to the IM world! on: January 17, 2012, 03:43:00 PM
What I also find even more disturbing.

There's no proper decentralisation.

He pre-mined 8m coins, and sells 6m coins on the "official" exchange. He's the only seller, so he can pretty much determine the price.

There's no independant exchange. There's just one central exchange which basically "owns" 6 million coins. That exchange owns these coins. And since that exchange is owned by one single person, he essentially gets the profit from these coins.

In addition, he personally keeps 2m coins.

That sounds very much like a "get rich"-scheme. Not for everyone who starts at block #2, but for TheGobbler.

39  Local / Biete / VERKAUFT - 9 Mining Rigs, 2x6990 pro Rechner on: January 09, 2012, 01:46:25 PM
Hallo,

Had to shut them down due too high electricity costs.

AMD Sempron 140 CPU
2GB RAM
1200 or 1000W PSU (80Plus Grade)
2x AMD Radeon 6990 GPU von verschiedenen Hersteller (siehe Details)
30GB SSD

40  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Professional Mining Rigs (2x6990) on: January 09, 2012, 01:38:45 PM
Hello,

I'd like to sell professional mining rigs for bitcoins. I would rather like to sell the rigs as a whole and not start selling parts.

9 rigs with 2x6990 GPU in a 4U Rack Case.
They were running in a properly cooled datacenter. Each rig can generate about 1.4ghash. None of the GPUs were ever overclocked.
Each rig has two Scythe Ultrakaze 3000rpm (120mm) installed that provides extra cooling to the rigs.

Had to shut them down due too high electricity costs.

I'm asking for 1100 Euro (in BTC at the current rate at the day of the sale) per rig. New price was about 1750 euros.
If you can buy all the rigs or more than one, I can offer a good discount.

Location of the rigs is Munich, Germany. Shipping to EU is possible, but it could be very expensive due to the size/weight of the rigs. Pickup
would be much cheaper.

All the rigs have almost the same configuration:

AMD Sempron 140 CPU
2GB RAM
1200 or 1000W PSU (80Plus Grade)
2x AMD Radeon 6990 GPU of various brands (see rig details)
30GB SSD
