While I do believe that having a lot of coins developed helps the evolution of cryptocurrencies, call it survival of the fittest and natural selection if you want, but this is getting out of hand.. we have too many crappy, copy+paste, scam, pump&dump coins appearing each monthweek day. This is getting ridiculous and doesn't help the ecosystem as a whole, not one bit.
You should download (via torrent) bootstrap.dat and put it in the Bitcoin data directory (usually C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin). Then start up Bitcoin Core and it will read the blockchain from there.
Definitely downloading the Blockchain via torrent. Or alternatively, you can use a thin client(doesn't require the blockchain downloaded), such as MultiBit or Electrum.
Wow. I am glad you got out of that situation okay. maybe inside a coffee shop or restaurant would be safer next time.
Well, as OP stated, he met with the guys in a crowded public place. Maybe next time you should bring a friend with you, especially when handling sums that might tempt muggers/scammers.
Also, it isn't mandatory to have the wallet with you when you do a trade. Bitcoin allows a lot of stuff, just use your imagination.
Not the iphone that's for sure, but I think they're going to allow btc apps again soon.
Actually, you can install the Blockchain wallet for iOS(if your device is jailbroken).

Where can I download it?
Due to restrictions from Apple the bitcoin wallet functionaility is not available in the app store version. However it is still available for free download with limited features.
For Jailbroken iphones the app is also available in TheBigBoss.org Cydia Repository
If you have a developer account you may compile from source available in our github repository (lGPL v3)
A "bitcoinaire" is good enough since 1 BTC will be more than 1 millions $ in parity purchasing power
Bitcoinaire sounds really awesome! But, getting back to OP, in some countries, depending on the buying power of it's currency, you need to be a 'billionaire' in order to be wealthy. It's all relative to what you can buy with a certain amount of monetary units.
