21  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 31, 2014, 03:53:45 PM
thanks for the input guys.
bought it directly from the manufacturer in China.
I'll contact them to have it replaced/fixed/whatever.

there is definitely something I tried all my other miners on the same pool and not a single one of them is more than 1-2% off the hashing speed spec.

my temperatures are a little higher than what some of you have been running but I don't see how this could explain it. heck, they even recommend a target temp of 50C.

here's the cgminer status page after 45 mn

http://postimg.org/image/jvn5wqka5/full/

where do I see the number of errors? and %?

still averaging ~ 140 GH on the btcguild stats..
23  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 30, 2014, 11:28:08 PM
well that didn't fix it Sad
averaging 140-150 GH on the pool's stats, and 195-205 on the cgminer status page.

could it be related to not enough internet bandwidth? my connection isn't great and I actually have no clue how much bandwidth a total of 330GH miners would need.
24  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 30, 2014, 11:09:45 PM
thanks, changing to 128, I'll update in 30 mn or so
thanks for the support!
25  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 30, 2014, 10:58:52 PM
oh I misunderstood
the other miner is just a block erupter cube that I still have

what difficulty should I have the worker? 128 or 256?

I set it to 256 for now..
26  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 30, 2014, 09:55:58 PM
yes this is a brand new unit
config:

and here's the chart:

(it has only been working for a day or so)

well, things are worse now
here's what the Cgminer status page shows.
I also copied/pasted a screenshot of the pool stats (which I reset at the same time as I restarted the miner @ 1300)

Thanks - We'll see how it goes at 1300. But that's how I first set it up and I already had that big 20+% discrepancy.
29  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 30, 2014, 08:48:21 PM
thanks I am doing this right now, I'll refresh the stats on btcguild too.

edit: what about pool balance? what should I have there?
30  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 30, 2014, 08:23:29 PM
Thanks for taking the time to respond, here's screenshot from yesterday:
http://postimg.org/image/tgy1lcntb/full/

Since then, I upgraded to the newer firmware (end december) and I get similar results.
I tried running at 1300 and 1400 (and 1500) and I still get about 25% lower hashing speed on the pools' stats.

thanks!
31  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: January 30, 2014, 07:49:56 PM
Figured out I needed to relaunch my browser. so firmware updated, it's mining but still the same speed issue!
all my other miners (not the same type - block erupters..) are reporting the right hashing speed in both their local interface and the pool's reports
32  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: January 30, 2014, 07:18:09 PM
Well I tried flashing to the december firmware. I am kind of stuck, it's been flashing for minutes, the page says not to turn off, I can still ping the IP that I was using but the web interface does not load (yet?).

how long is the process supposed to take?
33  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: January 30, 2014, 04:29:24 AM
I posted in another thread but it looks like I should have posted here first.

I've got a 200GH/s Avalon clone unit. I struggled finding the IP it was shipped to me with but thanks to angry grip scanner I was able to figure it out. I set everything up and it's hashing.

when looking at the Cgminer status page off the web interface, it was hashing 200GH/s per spec, no problem. However both mining pools I usually use return a lower hashing number by roughly 20-25%.

I tried overclocking ~ 15% (up to 1500) which gives me a hashing speed of 230 GH/s per, again, the web interface. But the figures in both mining pool dashboards return numbers again 20-25% lower.

I've mined with block erupters (blade and cubes) before and local numbers and more importantly pool numbers were correct.

I noticed I am running the 2013/11/10 firmware and that some people have upgraded to the end december firmware but I am not sure if that would have any impact on performance like this.

Do owners of the same unit are seeing local hashing speed really different from the pool's numbers like I do?

edit: Here's the screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/tgy1lcntb/full/

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks
-S.

Update: It's fluctuating between 160 and 190 GH/s by looking at the numbers reported by BTCguild. really no clue what's going on here Sad

35  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC FPGA miner monitoring RPC linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 3.11.0 on: January 29, 2014, 07:29:18 PM
Hey
I am running a Avalon 200 clone (openwrt with CGminer - firmware for the unit is dated 2013 Nov. 10).
I am seeing a 20-25% discrepancy in hash rate between what the unit is reporting and the 2 pools I tried (BTCguild, BTCdig).
The actual numbers:

Openwrt repors (under CGminer status):
230 GH/s (I'm oc'ed to 1500 - the same pattern was observed when non-o/c I tried..)

BTCdig sees ~ 150-160 GH/s
BTCguild sees ~ 175-190 GH/s

the number of rejected/stale are normal - nothing obvious there. I could post a screenshot of the Cgminer status page if that helps.

I could also get a new firmware but no clue where I could get it from (for this specific unit that is)

Any help is appreciated
thanks

aww I should have probably posted my question here instead... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=438714.0

One thing I didn't mention in the thread was that I had it on "balance" - just switched to failover but it doesn't seem to have any effect, I'll check back in an hour or so..
thanks for any help you can provide!
37  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon 200 clone hash rate discrepancies on: January 29, 2014, 04:43:29 PM
Hi
I've been mining on the btcdig pool for some time using some block erupter blades with no problem; i.e. hash rate reported by the pool for each miner is spot on.
I just installed a avalon 200GH/s clone (with the openwrt interface) and while it is apparently hashing on spec at 200GH/s (I even tried overcloking it to 230GH/s with apparently no problem), the pool is reporting a hash rate of only 150-160GH/s.

I tried adjusting the difficulty which didn't change anything - I waited several hours in between each change to make sure I was reading a correct figure.

I am not sure what I am missing here, could it be a limitation by the pool?

Any help is appreciated, thanks! Smiley
