I agree with the 510 recommendation.  I use a 1000 eGo 510 with LR atomizers and a driptip.

Props for selling vape stuff for BTC but your prices are insanely high, knock your margin down to a respectable level and I would buy from you.

@tysat  Try http://www.greenhouseone.com, it looks like bitvapes has a 60% markup from their prices however, they do not accept BTC.

22  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5 BTC Bonus] bit pit - (LP, Prop, OnDemand, SSL, API, 0% fee, SUPER LOW STALES) on: July 07, 2011, 01:45:13 PM
Stats seem to be fixed and relatively accurate.

For some reason each time I would check stats and see it taking longer and longer it would piss me off more and more.

How dare this block take so long.  I flipped to BTCguild and glanced at the statistics and saw 3 block taking 3 million + shares to crack in a row.  Just the luck of the draw.

Ended up pushing a few more cards at you to kill this block.

same problem with hashrate here.  Had been off this pool for a few days but have been back on for an hour and it says my hashrate is 1.1489 Mhps instead of 370, happens on 2 different miners.  Now, each refresh does bring it up little by little.
24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: July 01, 2011, 02:52:10 AM
Forgive my ignorance, but couldn't you just get the vmware player (free), make your own vmx to install ubuntu, install bitcoin and truecrypt, download all the blocks, snapshot, mount and import your wallet.dat from truecrypt volume on USB, send BTC, shutdown and delete snapshot?  There isn't really even a need to make a change in your truecrypt volume.

I realize that you could possibly do forensics on the drive and recover that deleted snapshot but that requires physical access to the drive.

And AFAIK Ubuntu is pretty safe as it doesn't listen for any incoming connections.

So if it was a dedicated single use just for BTC transactions (no browsing, etc.) would it be fine for non-paranoid people?

25  Economy / Goods / Re: [Selling] Organic garlic scapes from my farm - harvested today on: July 01, 2011, 01:20:42 AM
Next few weeks are hectic and probably no time to use them.  But I give you props for actually selling something interesting and useful.  Good luck on your endeavor.
26  Economy / Goods / Re: [Selling] Organic garlic scapes from my farm - harvested today on: July 01, 2011, 01:00:20 AM
Being a foodie but knowing nothing about garlic scrapes....  How long do they last?  Do you keep them refrigerated or in the open air?  How can you tell if they have turned?  Does the flavor change over time?  I have used some pretty old garlic that while drier, still did the trick.

Is that picture considered a bunch?
27  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: AOCLBF (was Phoenix Rising): Phoenix/POCLBM GUI With Built-In Overclock Tool on: July 01, 2011, 12:06:07 AM
Worth using just for the suspend on temperature.  Good job so far.

One thing would be to change the text overlay to white with a black border, that would make it more visible.
28  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Catalyst application crashed over RDP on: June 29, 2011, 02:29:58 AM
I did some testing on different types of apps from a security standpoint and I must say that VNC is pretty secure if you lock your system down and only accept connections from the loopback.  I ended up running sshd on a nonstandard port.

Connection steps are to SSH into the box, then VNC to it (since they are windows).

Also setup the sshd to ip block after 1 failed password attempt.

next it to setup a keypair though.

fun fun fun
29  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much are you paying for each pcie slot? on: June 29, 2011, 02:27:09 AM
Thanks for posting the list, saved me a trip to newegg and the change to buy something else I didn't need Smiley

The thing with mining is that it is all about the cards, everything else can be cheap.

Older motherboard with lots of PCIx1 or better, wattage processor & hdd, enough ram and you are good to go.  The less wattage your base system needs, the more that is available to the cards.

Do not under any circumstances skimp on cooling though.  Best I have seen is a channeled openbox with the extender cables out and away from the motherboard.  Each channel had its own fan (think shoebox with a fan at the end).  Cheap and cheesy and won't win any awards but the combination of being away from the case plus a lower ambient temp and its own dedicated fan = cool card.

Well, what if when setting up your account you actually had 2 passwords, one for logging in/managing workers and another to manage wallet/passwords and payouts?  Another thing I just thought of is a image verification/pin code like I have seen at banks.

You are shown a randomized keypad after logging in so instead of:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
* 0 #

it may look like:
5 9 4
2 0 3
1 7 6
* 8 #

You click on the images in the correct order (onclicks to build a hashed string for post) and you are in.

This defeats keyloggers as you are clicking at different locations each time.

disabling image caching on the browser and you are secure for all but totally hacked and rooted machines where your screen is recorded.
31  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - (LP, Prop, OnDemand, SSL, LOW STALES, 0% fee!) on: June 25, 2011, 07:16:20 PM
for the payout lock it seems like you could keep a datetime of the last wallet change and if the difference < 24 hours, disable the payout button.  Also when you submit the wallet change, trigger an email notification but still allow the change.  If an account is hijacked, that person has 24 hours to recover the account before anything bad happens.

You must also send email notifications to the old email address when the email address is changed and allow some way to recover an account to the previous email address else an attacker could just change the email address, then change the wallet address with no one the wiser.
32  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - (LP, Prop, OnDemand, SSL, LOW STALES, 0% fee!) on: June 25, 2011, 12:22:48 PM
I also suggest the IP whitelist option for each worker.  Protect against a ddos on the pool itself.

An API JSON interface for worker stats

A idle notification option for twitter/email/sms notification

A scheduled status notification option for twitter/email/sms notification.

Of course this is just a wishlist of the cool things I have seen at other pools.

33  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - (LP, Prop, OnDemand, SSL, LOW STALES, 0% fee!) on: June 25, 2011, 03:50:54 AM
tossed 1.3G at you.  You need to add a payout lock and email change warnings.

Thank you.

Also, that is a great suggestion. I have just added that to our task tracker.

I wonder how hard it would be to add something like the google authenticator when changing wallet addresses.

Another idea I saw floating around is wallet addresses as the worker name and only allowing payout to the wallet address of the worker.
34  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: quick ati graphic card question on: June 24, 2011, 11:41:20 PM
It really depends on the game (some allow you to select a specific card) but usually they will default to display 0.  Just mine on your second card.
35  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Catalyst application crashed over RDP on: June 24, 2011, 11:39:58 PM
VNC type applications work as well, not as secure as teamviewer but the technical aspects are the same.  Its more akin to sending screenshots over the network instead of a driver level hook.

I think its an issue with instant gratification.
38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do I have to download all blocks before receiving bitcoins on: June 24, 2011, 10:05:48 PM
lets say you have every block EXCEPT the last one, but on that last one is your incoming transaction.  It won't show up.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I know if I find a block mining solo? on: June 24, 2011, 10:04:50 PM
odds are odds.  You could grind away for a year and never score a block on your own, or you could start and get 7 blocks in one day.

I prefer the constant reliable payment from a pool.
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just purchased my first miner!!!! It'll be here in 2 days on: June 24, 2011, 10:03:10 PM
I picked up an alienware area 51 alx at the dell outlet for $1800 and it came with a 5970.  That is a system I will use for the next few years instead of a disposable mining rig.  I added a 6870 as my primary display and leave the 5970 mining 24/7 with no ill effects on playing games and watching videos.
