21  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 28, 2014, 08:09:37 AM
Nope, I had around 230 shares, and someone hacked into my Havelock account, sold all of my shares, and then withdrew around 10 BTC.

This is very unfortunate and frustrating news. I hope that everyone checks to make sure that both 2-Factor Authentication and country based IP locking are enabled on their account. It would also be a good idea to ensure that your password is something you don't use for anything else.

Guybrush01, you have Cognitive's sympathy and support.

Lets all try and prevent something like this from happening again.

22  Economy / Computer hardware / Looking to buy some TerraMiner II units on: February 27, 2014, 07:38:57 PM
Cognitive Mining is looking to buy some TerraMiner II units (preferably in bulk). If you have any you would like to sell, we will give you a fair price. Post here or contact us at pr@cognitivemining.com
23  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 27, 2014, 07:44:53 AM
Why did you have to loan cog money to pay divs, I do not understand this.  Cog mines it's divs. For aome reason were we not mining?

Garrett hadn’t imported Cog addresses into a wallet yet. He decided it would be faster and easier to pay dividends using his own funds.

Are you claiming that you spent around 5 BTC on the scrypt hardware?

No, about 10 BTC.

Lastly, an update:

Garrett will have the two CT units he transported to Washington up and hashing sometime tomorrow. More info to come soon.

24  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 25, 2014, 11:05:42 PM
Please clarify:

4.09573021 coins leaving from 1cogxXy to
- 1.91145049 to 1Gw8o, the Cognitive havelock deposit address. This is the 10420 shares * 0.00018344 btc dividend per share.
- 1.91145049 to 1coggh, the Cognitive reinvestment fund, now at only 11.2291 btc instead of 15.
- 0.27272926 to 1Garr255, Garrett's public personal address... but why??

The contract states that all operating costs will be covered by the operators shares. I don't see any valid reason to send Cognitive funds straight to Garretts address.
Did you not make a separate wallet for Cognitive, resulting in sending all change money to your personal wallet? Please keep personal wallets separated from Cognitives.
Any coin that goes to 1coggh, intended or not, belongs to Cognitive.

Garrett plans to get online tonight and give you a more detailed explanation, but for now here is a brief explanation:

For a period of time, Garrett was using personal funds to pay dividends. The funds that were transferred from 1cogxXy to 1Garr255 (Garrett's public personal address) are compensation for that. I am going to contact Havelock and get records of when deposits were made into the COG dividend account and from what address they were sent. Then anyone should be able to verify that the dates for both the deposits and the dividends were the same, and that there were indeed deposits to 1Gw8o from one of Garrett's personal addresses equaling 0.27272926 BTC in value.

Why is there not at least 15.09686895 Btc in the reserve fund? The cointerra order was placed before cog was launched on havelock. So why is the not 50 percent of divs in the reserve fund? Why is the reserve fund still not completely public? This is bitcoin these are not hard task to accomplish this is the cognitive wallet mining revenue goes in, and any time that a single satoshi moves from the wallet there is a explanation. That way none of this crap is a problem and investors are not left with broken promises about transparency.

Garrett and I will come up with the exact price of the CoinTerra order so the amount in the reserve fund can be verified. The CT hardware was priced in dollars, so we will have to check the price of bitcoin at the time of the CT purchase to determine the value of the CT hardware, and ensure that the amount of BTC in the reserve fund is valid.

The reserve fund is completely public: https://blockchain.info/address/1cogghK1bWFNSVHdicX2dQLfcWJzxHBHY

As I said, Garrett will be online tonight to give a better explanation.

Alright everyone. 3 things:

since the ct machine are mining ,I think f1 and f2 should get the dividends , that is what you should do right away.garr
+1
+2

1.) F1 and F2 will be converted to COG before the next dividend.

Looks like mining is back up to 8-9TH today.  Either fixed some of the units or more arrived.

2.) The reason for the increase in hash rate was that Garrett fixed all but one of the CT units.

However, there should be a drop in hash rate in the next few hours because Garrett is taking two of the units to WA. Garret should have those set up and hashing again either tomorrow or the next day.

3.) Many of you have probably noticed that the www.cognitivemining.com/charts webpage isn't working. This is because the developer received his money, got lazy, and didn't complete the last steps to get the page up. We take blame for this delay, and Garrett will finish the site and make it live this week.

As always, feel free to leave questions, comments, concerns.

26  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 24, 2014, 05:50:12 AM
What is the status of shares being converted?

Edit: I do not think this has been answered because there will be a div before the rest of the hardware arrives and nothing has been stated about the fairness of the shares not being converted before then and the reason as to why they won't be.

I do not own any of cog.f1 or 2

Fair question. Because the contract didn’t specify when f1 and f2 were going to be converted, it's been decided that they will be converted when half of the hardware gets here this week. Garrett talked with CoinTerra, and they confirmed that the hardware should indeed be here in the next few days.

27  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 23, 2014, 04:01:56 AM

so what do you think of the CT machines, from a unbiased miners perspective? yeah we know they haven't met the requirements, but how is the design, usability, heat, noise , initial setup?

Garret says he plans to do a review of all of the hardware once things calm down a bit. But if you really need it now, I can likely get you more information.

28  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 23, 2014, 03:36:15 AM
hey garr,
whats with the hash rate drop, did u talk to CT about the said defective units?

Unfortunately some of the units have faulty firmware. They need to be fixed so they don't corrupt when the power cycles. Garrett is working on this problem, but the plan is to move the units to a location in Washington at the end of next week where this shouldn't be a problem.

29  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 23, 2014, 01:07:07 AM
Why sell the non-CT hardware?

The new hardware is more efficient, and right now it is better to allocate time and funds to the newest hardware.

Just an update:

The www.cognitivemining.com/charts page is currently being worked on, and should be completed in a few hours. When it's completed, it will include the new  public address containing all COG funds, as well as Eligius charts and other info.

Garrett or I will notify you when the page is complete. Stay posted!

Thx Sam. Can we ask how many units have we ordered in total?

14 units were originally ordered, but since they arrived about half a month late, Garrett was able to negotiate with CT and get 3 more. 6 units have already arrived, and after some troubleshooting all 6 are hashing! The remainder of the units are expected to arrive and be hashing sometime next week.

33  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 20, 2014, 09:29:48 PM
The following things are still of critical importance IMO:
1. Ensure that the new address where all COG funds are stored will be verifiable and contains *all* the expected "reinvestment" funds (so it should have 50% of all divs since the time of the last CT order, right?)
2. Ensure that all of our hardware is using a visible pool like eligius, against the same address, and has backup pools should eligius go down, for best uptime
3. Ensure that the pools we use, along with their deposit address, are all documented ON THE WEBSITE (for BTC and scrypt miners) (we can't be digging through this entire thread to get critical info like our current hashrate, payout address, etc)

Once all of these are done, the "present" is taken care of, and there can be no question about stolen funds moving forward, the only questions are about the past.  To clear those up, we'd like to see the following:

1. The long-promised financial report.  How much did our CT order cost exactly?  What money came in/out last year?
2. What payout address was in use during the infamous "missing div" period?  Was the discrepancy due to your error, the pool's error, bad luck, or something else?  Any answer is better than no answer.

Finally, after that in priority, it'd be nice to have a discussion about next steps.
1. Tell us more about this PR person
2. What does our reinvestment fund look like?  Are we still in talks with CT?  Will we be placing another order soon?  How are the scrypt machines doing, is their return making that look like a better plan than more ASIC based hardware? (imma guess "probably not", but worth considering)

Here are the answers to your questions, in order:

1.) Garrett plans to have the new public address where all COG funds are stored up and running tonight. The %50 of all dividends since the last CT order will be a part of it.
2.) All hardware is currently going through Eligius. The backup pool is through btcGuild.
3.) Documentation on the pools being used, their deposit addresses, and other information about hardware, hashrate, etc will be on the Cognitive website sometime tonight. I believe specifically at www.cognitivemining.com/charts

1.) Unfortunately, we don't have a financial report yet. Putting one together is going to be a very time consuming process, and we don't have the time quite yet. Soon though.
2.) The "missing div" period was a result of very bad luck. Right now we don't have any way to prove this, but its what happened.

1.) I've already told you a bit about myself
2.) Our reinvestment fund has around 15 coins in it. As far as communication with CT, Garrett was in Austin last week talking to Ravi (CEO of CoinTerra) taking about future orders, and what the pricing will look like in the coming months. Garrett has established good relationships with the CEOs of both CT and Hashfast, which will be very advantageous in the future.

I hope this clears some things up. More info to come in the next few hours, including PICTURES!

Thanks for your patience,

Samuel

35  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 20, 2014, 05:42:18 PM

Welcome aboard Samuel.

As you can see tensions are high here and you will have your work cut out for you if you are to assuage the heat currently on cognitive.

The PR job will be a tough one. However the solution is clear and relatively simple. The beauty of Bitcoin is it is possible to prove everything on the blockchain, so the answer to all your problems is this: 'FULL FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY FOR ALL ACTIONS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE' if you can find a way to do this in a clear open manner the majority of your problems will be over, and shareholders on your side. When confidence returns the shareprice will rise.

Good luck and all the best.  May you, in the process of achieving the job laid out for you, restore the good name of Samuel. It has been 'a bit' tarnished here in Bitcoinland.

Hopefully with good actions you will become to be known as Samuel 'Blanc'.

Lunarboy, thank you for the advice. Absolutely, my priority is transparency. I will always do my best to relay information as clearly, accurately, and as often as possible.

More info to come in a few hours.

Thanks for the support,

Samuel

Here's an update on the progress of the new hardware:

Garrett has spent the entire day configuring the new units. On average, he has been bringing a new unit online every hour, and he has one more left tonight.

2 of the machines aren't working properly, so he plans to call CoinTerra tomorrow morning to try and get them fixed.

I will continue to keep you all updated!

37  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 20, 2014, 08:57:11 AM

Hi. Care to share more about yourself? Now you are just a fresh account with the same name as the labcoin rep...

Do you live close to garret? Did you ever meet him? Will you? Are you a cognitive shareholder? I assume you get paid with part of the management cut. When will we get the financial report starting from october? Could we organize an irc q&a?

Your inquiry is quite understandable, so here are your answers:

I am currently a freshman at Montana State University studying engineering. I'm from Hamilton, MT. I met Garrett here at MSU. We both live in the same dorm, and over the past few months we have become good friends. Garrett sparked my interest in bitcoin, and I recently became a shareholder. Separately, I have been doing the PR and marketing for a startup website my roommate founded called uPin. Garrett saw some of the stuff I was doing and liked it, so he hired me to do the PR for Cognitive.

As payment, Garrett has agreed to give me 100 shares of equity in COG. Garrett intends to raise a motion soon regarding this agreement, but he needed me to start work right away. If the motion to award me 100 shares fails, Garrett will pay me with his own shares. Garrett and I both believe that compensating me with equity is more beneficial for the company, because it provides me with a strong incentive to work hard and make Cognitive more successful.

If you have any more questions, comments, or concerns feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Samuel

Both f1 and f2 will be converted to COG and start paying dividends when the remainder of the hardware arrives around the middle of next week.

Hello everyone! This is Samuel, the new Public Relations specialist for Cognitive.

Many of you have expressed frustration at the lack of communication between the company and its shareholders. My job is to change that. From now on you can expect frequent updates about what is currently going on with Cognitive. Additionally, I will be here to answer questions and relay messages to Garrett.

Garrett will continue to be active on the forum, but he will be devoting more of his time and energy to managing the company's backend.

I'm excited to begin work for Cognitive, and look foreword to communicating with you all in the future.

I'll peep in to humbly recommend Cognitivemining.com. The CEO of Cognitive is managing orders for many people, and will have an operation larger in size than Icedrill (mentioned above) in a few months.

We're about to get a huge shipment of hardware from Cointerra (28 terahashes per second worth) and shares are competitively low at https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=COG

Cheers
