21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★★ PandaCoin [PND] ★★★ 2021 Network Update on: June 13, 2021, 01:00:24 PM
Hi,

Newb question but with the new chain, its appears we can mine again for a time. I dont see a command in the wallet for that. Is there an easy way to do that, or can you direct me to an updated resource. All my searches pull information from the old chain.

Thanks,

PTDbaU8ppj9oP57F9cddbrGDKkSRbSZrW2

Mining is indeed possible again, but currently the block reward is tiny (some 8 PND per block), to deter profit oriented miners.
Once PoS is able to mint, and markets are up and stable again, we'll consider raising rewards at some point.

Minning pools please..

Pandacoin uses Proof of Stake to generate new blocks, so there are no mining pools available.

Will panda ever raise again? or gone extinct? Dont see the major activity that was seen weeks back. whats going on?

I stumbled across this roadmap, don't know if this was supposed to be released already, but hope this will help you all.

This post and the image linked in it are made up and do not resemble what is in store for pandacoin in 2018.

Not sure what this user is trying to accomplish here.

hi,can anyone tell me how to find wallet.dat in mac

It resides in "~/Library/Application\ Support/Pandacoin".
The Library directory is hidden, so you would have to either reveal it with any of the suitable tools found on google, by targeting the it in Finder directly, or by using the terminal to access it.

We're in the process of waking them up.

Only after a year can I receive these 2.5% interest? Remembering that I must install the wallet, leave it open and have balance in wallet?

You can gain 2.5% per year by staking, which can occur any time during the year.

i tried a few peers on the app but nothin ever happened... not sure wat to do to see / spend my coins. do i just keep trying  a node until i see something start to sync ?

Please try a few more peers first.

come on, pandacoin, you should update some new feactures if you do want some development, instead of trying to scam by using your old age.
Just implement some already existing feactures, for example, masternode, staking, and so forth, if you don't want to use your mind too much to come up with new ideas.
Just any new feactures to rebrand yourself. It can easily pump up yourself. Money don't come itself when you are too lazy and just want to scam.

Not quite sure what you're on about.

i just sent coins to the android wallet . . are they gone forever now ?

sent 1hr ago not showing up . but i see it on the blockchain..

any other way to get those coins back onto the market?

Is your android wallet synced?

i just installed it . . how would i tell? lol

Tap on the burger menu > Network Monitor > swipe to Blocks.

If it doesn't show any connected peers / recent blocks you can open the Settings and add a trusted peer of your choosing. After that's done it should synchronise.

thank you sir, where i can find trusted peers?

You could look them up under "Node list" in the first post of this thread.

Do note that these steps are out of the ordinary and should be fixed as soon as the new android wallet has been released.

I figured having a twitter account is a good way to interact with the community, which why I've set one up at https://twitter.com/amrealpanda.

What is the difference between the above twitter, and this

https://twitter.com/PandacoinPND

?

It's simply a personal account. https://twitter.com/PandacoinPND is for official information.

This error indicates that your copy of the blockchain has been corrupted through either issues during the previous runtime, or bad storage.
Since you appear to be using a custom version of berkely db I would assume that it is caused by the former.

To avoid having to redownload and reevaluate the entire chain one could copy a valid state of the chain and simply copy that back, should this error surface again.

Alright guys,

Got another bug report to work on this morning.

This same problem also happened with the earlier version of Panda I was running, before you switched me to this latest version.

1.  I open PandaBank.
2.  The loading screen says Loading Block Index...
3.  Switch to web browser (or any other app) to do something else while Panda is loading.
4.  A while later later, PandaCoin-Qt quits unexpectedly
5.  A quick read of the crash report indicates...
Crashed Thread:        0  Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

Exception Type:        EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT)
Exception Codes:       0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
Exception Note:        EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

Application Specific Information:
Assertion failed: (pindex->pprev || pindex->GetBlockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)), function GetStakeModifierChecksum, file src/kernel.cpp, line 391.
...
6. Attempt to reopen PandaBank
7. Keep PandaBank active without switching to any other app... wait forever (we never progress beyond the loading screen which says Loading Block Index).
8.  Finally get tired of waiting and switch to another app to do something while waiting...
9.  When switching apps, the loading screen is hidden until you go back to PandaBank, and when it is hidden, an error window is revealed to have been behind it!  Viola.
10.  The error screen has an exclamation point on a stop sign and says, Error loading blkindex.dat.
11.  Click "OK".
12.  PandaBank closes with clicking "OK"
13.  Navigate to to ~/Library/Application\ Support/Pandacoin/ and delete all its contents except for wallet.dat
14.  Empty the Trash
15.  Open PandaBank
16.  It works.
17.  Now it will take a long time to get things back to normal, through syncing.

I attempted to make a quick video of this to help you troubleshoot.  https://youtu.be/HjUSjLIGuu0  Thanks for everything Smiley

~John

Not really seeing any professionalism or real justification, still.

This might come as a surprise to you, but cryptocurrencies are neither my profession, nor is anyone paying me to spend my time on them.

I'm not trying to justify anything either, so take it as you will.

That doesn't mean you can perform incredibly shady actions without consequences.

I fail to see how leaving an open source project is incredibly shady, and given the way this conversation is going we won't come to a mutual agreement either.

Well, you never really told anyone that. You simply one day just disappeared and left everyone to scatter around and attempt to pick up the pieces.

A lot of people lost a lot of Bitcoin because of that. Many other people were also accused of running a scamcoin given they had no answers.

So this argument effectively boils down to something like "Because of your radio-silence, people lost money"...
...while the price and volume of pandacoin were well on their way to nearing zero, even while I was still active.
This means the outcome would have been one and the same, radio-silence or not.

If you can't stand the thought of losing your money, don't invest into some project you didn't do any due dilligence on. I've been preaching this same thing for years now.

I fortunately didn't lose a cent. This isn't entirely about the losses that you caused, though.

It's the fact that you disappeared without even telling anyone you were done. People you worked with didn't even have any answers. The entire thing looked like a scam; a scam even other developers were unaware of.

At the most, you could've had the decency to at least tell everyone either through these threads or on IRC (both would've been nice) that you would be ceasing development on the coin and handing it down to the others that were still throwing time and effort into making it work.

Instead: you disappeared, the main site went down shortly after, everyone in the IRC channel and on here were attempting to piece together what may have happened, where a possible scam may have formed, whether it was a scam all along.

Whether you had your reasons or not, you left an awfully shady trail behind.

Would you mind (obviously not in actual detail for personal reasons) explaining what happened when you did suddenly just disappear from PND a few years back?

I decided to move on to other things, since I felt my time was better spent elsewhere.

What ever happened to the funds that were accumulated via the community with the plan of sending them to a charity to benefit pandas?

Nothing. The keys used for those wallets were purged, so I would advice against sending anything to those addresses now.

I see. That's quite disappointing given how you handled it; could've been a lot better, really.

Can you elaborate?
