21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlueCoin (ß) | [BLU] | PoW Distribution | 3% PoS | Bounties | Giveaways on: May 17, 2014, 08:53:29 PM
I was optimistic about this coin but have realised it can't possibly succeed because of the massive numbers of confirmations required for a transaction nobody will ever use it  to buy anything - therefore it is already dead.

The spec says 7 confirmations for transactions.  Is that not correct?  It is a lot for mined blocks (350).  Of course, pools and and exchanges, or any recipient for that matter, can set their own policy for number of confirmations, as with any coin.

The upcoming bonus interest period should attract buyers.  I just pointed this out on the Poloniex trollbox; more voices needed there!

I mined overnight, and still nothing in the wallet.  My mining public key is e94934a00285486892f4f98868224b663668ad78.

I guess that your public wallet address is BRiakpjwMxEzf5eQbQCCGyUTfzYphakFrd, right? If that is the case the coins are flowing now:

http://explore.bellacoin.com:2750/address/BRiakpjwMxEzf5eQbQCCGyUTfzYphakFrd

Bellacoin needs 120 blocks mined for the coins to mature (it's like that by default, we can't change that at pool level), which is a LOT for a coin like this, with this high difficulty. It usually takes 5/6 hours to mature, but at the end you will always get them, don't worry  Grin

Nope, it's BBJ1UdbEtj47mNCdWSVpoMfYE4dhrtiK1y

Thanks, that worked.  I did it using BellaCoind, and interestingly, the new address did not show up in the qt client until I restarted it.

I have a zero balance.  I thought I saw a BELA block found while I was mining yesterday.  Minimum payment threshold, maybe?  I will point some hash at it again, soon.

Probably it's that, it was configured at 10 minimum payment which is too high for this coin. I've moved it to just 1, let me know if you get it, if not, send me your mining public key and I'll let you know the amount due. If you don't feel like using more mining power for now give me your wallrt public address and I'll send it manually.

I sent you a PM about this, but will post here too just in case...the last few blocks found are not showing any credit for anyone.  The "Round Transactions" and "Round Shares" sections are empty.

Any devs around? Whats your plans to promote coin?
I can turn on 1 of my rigs to kfc and get 70% nethash. Its very bad. Cry

On which algo, SHA256?

Suprnova's SHA pool reports a pool hash rate of 180GH/s; the current SHA difficulty of 34626 yield a nethash of 826GH/s.  Yet they have only found 2 blocks in the last hour...

When I had my 180GH/s rig pointed there, back when the reward was 500, I was also disappointed in the yield I was seeing.  I wonder what is going on?

As to risk, wouldn't someone have to get 51% on all 3 algo's to successfully cause a fork?

I have never imported a private key before, but I found a guide, and I get this:

./BellaCoind importprivkey "(the private key I copied from your keygen page)"
error: {"code":-5,"message":"Invalid private key"}

What private key are you importing? It's not the one that's used to generate all the coins private keys, let me explain:

- Go to http://poollo.com/key.html
- Type into "3) Input private key hex" the private key you generated the first time.
- In the next screen choose "Bellacoin" at the end section, "Coin formatted keys".
- You will get 2 strings, the wallet public address and the private key for BellaCoin, it's on the textbox named "Private Bellacoin key in wallet import format". That's the one you have to use with the "./BellaCoind importprivkey "

PS: You can give a name to the Wallet, so it's easy to recognize, the full command would be, for example:

Bellacoind  importprivkey 69g7Kv4aWAdj6pigrbsfJYVrpwzdgKyY9fxeJsJHe3mcwSKUB2C "Pollo.com Mining Wallet"

Thanks, that worked.  I did it using BellaCoind, and interestingly, the new address did not show up in the qt client until I restarted it.

As you have seen in the key generation page you can generate an address for all coins in the pool using your private key, so you can start mining just using a Vertcoin miner, for example sgminer:

    http://sgminerwindows.com/
    sgminer --nscrypt -o stratum+tcp://poollo.com:6666 -u yourpublickey –p x

To check that payouts are being made you can download the h2o and giarcoin wallets and incorporate your private key or check on blockexplorers with the public key you can see on key.html page.

If you know NOMP multipool capabilities you can check out our Scrypt multipool switcher, in which BellaCoin is included. Generate your private key here: http://poolo.com/key.html and start multi mining now. Currently, in beta testing phase, the coins included for Scrypt profit switching are PixCoin, GlobalBoost and, of course, BellaCoin. The mining address is:

stratum+tcp://poollo.com:4444

Please, PM me or post here if you start using it, test, comments, whatever...

OK, I am giving it a try.  I presume the public key generated is to be used as the username?

Will there be payouts in the beta test?  How are payouts done?

Is there a dashboard or some way to check status?  Oh, I see my public key under "bellacoin" in the "workers" page.

Your private key url above has a typo--missing an "l".
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ☯ UniversityCoin UVC ☯ [Pure PoS] Vote on MintPal | Long-term Strategy on: May 14, 2014, 01:26:33 AM
Sooo...  there is this app called Moocho.  It's targeted at university students, and is live at 7 US schools.  I happen to live in the town of one of those, so I got the app when it was being promoted at a local restaurant.  It's pretty nice.  You can choose a merchant based on deals offered, or see if one you have in mind to go to is a Moocho participant.  If so, you click an icon, and your tab is open at that merchant until you close it.  At checkout, you just give your name, and the clerk finds you on their special Moocho tablet, and you're done.

Where I think UVC could come in is in relation to their promo points system, called "mooches".  Mooches can be redeemed for various things, either at participating merchants or at the Moocho store.

What if students (or anyone with the Moocho app) could buy mooches with UVC?  Moocho is a young company looking to expand, so might be open to such an angle, especially if they had free help with the software to implement it.

What do you think?

How is it that a pool with over 10% of the nethash has not found a block in the last hour, most listed pools have no miners, the total of all listed pools have less than 20% of the total hash....

I conclude there is a gigantic private pool or ASIC farm on this, and therefore the coin is not secure due to being vulnerable to a 51% attack.  The dev's own pool, possibly?

I am staying away...mining or trading.

Do you know who the OP on this coin is? do your research before spreading FUD. He is a respected Actual Financial Advisor with his own Firm and is a respected mainstream media investor on CNBC. He has no need to do this and also he is one of the only coin owners who actually did not remain anonymous.

Don't mine it or Buy it it's more for me and i'll laugh at you when this hits .001

All the more reason to suspect he has his own giant mining pool.  What other explanation do you have for where all the hash is coming from?

Can we please get some more people mining XBC. Simply go to help>debug window>console> and type: setgenerate true
Would you all like a multipool? Someone messaged me offering.

I did "setgenerate true 1" and immediately started getting constant "POWMined" messages (more than 1 per minute) with 0.00 amount.  The messages were too annoying so I turned mining off after about 10 minutes.  I am puzzled by the frequency, and that the amounts were all 0, no transaction fees.  This is on linux with a wallet built from git.

The halving transition seems to have gone well.  Just mined my first 10000 blocks, #65538 and #65540, and they are getting confirmations.

There is this in the log:

I suppose these are nodes running the old wallet?

LOL. I wish I had noticed there was a Linux wallet bounty; I've been running it for several days.  I am so used to boost errors when compiling that I edit makefiles before even trying, now.
