21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GoldBars 2 name? on: March 10, 2014, 04:34:14 PM
bitgold is starting to sound nice. BTG?
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GoldBars (GDB/GOLD) | KGW | Scrypt | Safe IPO | Rare on: March 10, 2014, 01:08:28 AM
my opinion is probably biased since i have already have 1 goldbar  Grin

i wish you could fix the current coin. like a grand re-opening at dennys.  Wink

if you go relaunch, definitely not 2.0. all that will do is make people wonder where 1.0 is.

let's bump it up a notch. how about platinum bar?

We will include a way to convert old coins  Grin
Also, what names do you like/preffer?
I would rather keep it as gold though xD

GoldCoin? GDC? it looks like a coin.

*whoops, already a goldcoin, my bad.

are we still going to get paid from the faucet?

i think the way it's hanging by a thread right now just makes it even rarererer.  0.0015 looks pretty good right now.

i'd like to keep them for collectors coin plz.

Another suggestion would be to if you want to accommodate the people that have mined the old coin and stayed loyal, is to allow them to send their old coin rewards to your old coin address by a certain cut-off date before you shut-down the wallet and then they can trade-in the old coins for some of the new or perhaps in a ratio. This will definitely keep the loyal miners loyal to your new coin.

+1

Hello everyone, I want to explain to you our point of view about the recent events with DC.

First of all I want to make clear, that I'm not running this pool on my own. We are a team of two admins and one web dev.
We also answer all our support mails, advertise, chat with users and as you may guess this pool is not our primary income, we all have jobs and responsibilities that we neglect to keep our users happy.
As the biggest pool on launch holding 1.3 GH/s without any issues, we spend the night monitoring the cron jobs and making sure everything goes smooth.
Sadly early in the morning around 7:00 GMT our hosting provider decided to stop our stratum server due the 3Gb/s DDOS attack.
We didn't get any customer support till 9:30, by than we managed to setup a new server and run it by ourselves. Most of our users reconnected and we a had around 800-900 MH/s on our pool.
We felt relieved and happy, that our efforts were not in vain. At that time our pool and multi-pool.eu were both holding around 95% of the whole network.
Everything was fine until we realised that the new wallet version 1.0.1 was depending on a single pnseed, dnsseed not set at all and because of poor nodes setup 98% of the network are mining on the wrong chain.

Splendid.

We decided to keep it quiet in order to save the coin. We tried to hotfix the new wallet version to sync with our node and validating this huge fork.
We almost managed .. meanwhile our pool was going up and down.
We were blamed all over this forum, compared with hooker's panties, while some of our fellow pool ops advertise themselves as stable pools running on the "correct" chain.
Finally when we switched off our stratum we got the dev attention being more than 1/2 of the network hashrate, with the help of our admins they managed to sync to the biggest fork, the one our pool and multi-pool.eu were mining.
So this whole thing end after 21 hours hard work and wallet version 1.0.2 was released.

I kindly asked the Dev twice to make a clear statement in here, because as the biggest pool we are taking all the blame.
Sorry, but "don't blame the pools" won't cut it!

Yes we didn't lost as much blocks as we would have, if the nodes were sync with the lesser chain(s). But our pool balance is negative and we have tons of pissed off users.
Our pool runs on donations ONLY !
We demand refund for us and our users ! You have good amount of premined coins that are not used for anything yet, this coin doesn't even have a block explorer !!!

Thank you.

xHash Team

i'm with xhash on this one.  out of all the places i've mined at, they got the best interface imo, don't even need to recreate an account for different coins.  it seems like they are always getting blamed for something.  i guess they must be doing something right.

the coin itself is still just shaky.

i lost some coins during the down time at xhash too and hope the devs do consider.

this boost thing is driving me nuts.

i'm still trying to get this development environment up, so don't want to hype anything.
MRC is a very attractive coin to develop for right now, but I keep running into wall after wall.
no pain no gain right?
Oh. I wish I can help you more.
Well, any way it is just boostlib libraries issue.
Cloud server is not reason for that. I have use same server provider.

Thanks for your help halibit, i'll try to digg some more.

It is pust request to git update. Just wait an hour and it will be accepted.
Then download it:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/microcoinsource/microcoin.git

Now there is microCoind in folder src.

Start service in microCoin/src folder:
Code:
./microCoind

Edit your conf file:
Code:
nano /root/.microCoin/microCoin.conf

and start again service in microCoin/src folder:
Code:
./microCoind

Hope this help you continue.
What service you are building for micro?
Or is it still secret  Tongue

Just tried it out , now i get this error:
Code:
./microCoind: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.48.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

this boost thing is driving me nuts.

Sorry can't help you with that. I'm not so linux installer guru Sad
Is there any help if I compile and send microcoind to you?

I can try that, thanks dude.
i'm trying this thing out on a digital ocean droplet if that's any help.

I'm trying to do some microCoin development.

How do you run a microCoin daemon?

reading through: https://github.com/microcoinsource/microcoin/blob/master/doc/build-unix.txt

kind of stuck at compiling the source on Ubuntu13.10

% make -f makefile.unix
g++ -c -O2 -msse2 -pthread -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -g -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -I/root/microcoin/src -I/root/microcoin/src/obj -DUSE_UPNP=0 -DUSE_IPV6=1 -DSCRYPT_KECCAK512 -DSCRYPT_CHACHA -DSCRYPT_CHOOSE_COMPILETIME -DHAVE_BUILD_INFO -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/alert.d -o obj/alert.o alert.cpp
alert.cpp:5:29: fatal error: boost/foreach.hpp: No such file or directory
 #include <boost/foreach.hpp>
                             ^
compilation terminated.
make: *** [obj/alert.o] Error 1

any help appreciated.

I'm trying to do some microCoin development.

How do you run a microCoin daemon?

and what's the best way to get in touch with the devs so I don't do redundant work?

why is it so hard to find a cpu miner for this thing?  isn't it supposed to be designed for cpu mining?

i tried using the yacoin miner, but it only does p2pool.  is there a p2pool for microcoin?

or are the devs waiting for block 160,000 to release the cpu miner?
There is CPU miner settle with microCoin nfactor settings (path say like it's gpu, but it is cpuminer)
https://github.com/microcoinsource/microcoin-GPUminer

I have to say, I'm not use it never.

I think there is no p2p pool for micro.

There is no compiled miner for mrc, I always get "boooo"Sad
I'm afraid no, untill some one compile source and share it Smiley

I also tried the ybcoin windows cpu miner.  it just crashes when i try to run it.  ybcoin supposed to have the same algo? script-jane right?  and they got p2pool and stratum.

here is a ybcoin windows cpuminer download link: http://ybc.botpool.net/index.php?page=gettingstarted

someone try it and see if it works for them?

how about releasing an updated osx wallet?
not everyone is using windows, you know...

Try this one i just compiled; but depending of your osx version it might not work. compiled on 10.7.

This one works on 10.7.5 now.  Thanks Queen!

I traded about 11 DRK to about 1 LTC to about 1.1 million MRC couple of nights ago, hope I got in at a good time.

I am also interested with CPU mining tutorials on Linux.  Thanks!
