21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: December 12, 2023, 11:17:42 AM
If you are onto gambling for the first time it's not possible to get addicted to gambling because you haven't tasted what winning feels like, you will be consumed by doubts and uncertainty.

But wait till you have a taste, win some money, that's where you start feeling like there is more if you keep digging, is this not where gambling addiction starts?

We have had a lot of conversations about gambling addiction, but I had the same conversation with someone close yesterday and this was my answer to him.

Do you think its possible to become addicted to gambling when you haven't win a dime or after you win?

I think addiction starts after you win, even if it's just once, that's when you start gambling recklessly and you also start betting higher.

Most likely when we're winning (or on a winning streak), this will begin for us to become tempted to spending more time and money to gamble thus higher risk of losing even more money. This is something that I really needed to avoid after learning my lessons from the past where I am struggling to control my gambling habits by spending way beyond my limits.

When I win either in sports betting or any online casino game, that got me thinking of betting some more instead of being happy of my small wins. Greediness is one thing that is really tough to control and manage when we are either on a winning or losing streak.

It is hard to overcome and it would take a while until you're finally disciplined to just control and spend an extra amount that you can afford to lose that is within your means and limits.
22  Local / Pamilihan / Re: METAMASK - TUMATANGGAP NA NG GCASH on: December 12, 2023, 10:59:52 AM
Salamat kabayan.

At saka since lahat ng deposits automatic convert to USDC Polygon, pwede rin tayo mag send from Stables to any centralized or decentralized crypto wallet supporting USDC Polygon.

Buti na lang na introduce sa akin ito ng colleague ko as an alternative to Binance P2P at iba pang P2P platforms. Hindi na ako mag worry kahit gaano pa kaliit ang pwede ko i withdraw dito from Stables to any PH-based banks and e-wallets.

Easy talaga ang interface at saka newbie friendly. And yes, malaking bagay ito talaga sa ating lahat lalo na Binance's days are numbered na.
23  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Correction is possible in bitcoin price? After 40,000$ on: December 11, 2023, 08:58:19 PM
We're actually in a correction period right now and we just do not know when will it be stopping. Maybe one factor is that lots of them are cashing out in preparation for their respective Xmas parties, buying gifts, etc. This is mostly likely happening in the Holiday season once we are experiencing uptrend in the market.

As of this time, we're currently standing at $40,600+ after reaching at least $44,200+ which I assume it's the current resistance level being defended that the bulls finding it hard to penetrate as of this time.

I was really hoping about BTC going as much as $45k before the end of the week which it failed. I can see that if the bulls can hold on with the projected $40k support level for a long while, this would lead to another round of bull run before the much-anticipated BTC halving.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I could have won bigger. on: December 11, 2023, 08:44:09 PM

Good day everyone,,, I would like to share my winning with you guys, but I am not just doing it because I won the bet, but it is because it wasn't the amount I wanted to stake that I staked.

A friend of mine collected $10 from me earlier yesterday and I wanted to use the money to gamble, but based on, he is my friend. I gave him the $10 he asked for, and the guy said he would return the $10 back ASAP after 3 hours, but he didn't and the $10 was the amount and same money I wanted to use and stake a bet (I have some coins but don't have cash and I don't want to sell any penny of my coins for any reason). But letter on, I used 1000 naira ($1) to stake the bet and I won 49,814 naira (about $50+).

Now I am angry at my friend because he didn't keep to his words. Although I am still happy about the win, I wish he had given me back the $10. Then, I would have win bigger money.

Borrowing just to gamble is a big no-no. I am super guilty of that to be honest because when I was broke I had to borrow little money from my friend and he did lend me just to doing a little bit of online gambling. However, I lost all of that money in just a few minutes but good thing I paid him back after a week when I got my salary.

I also hate the fact that someone would say that I am their "last option" in hopes to borrow money from me but have never kept their promises either to pay me back. It is why I have never ever lend money to anyone (except my family and close friends) for a long while now whatever reason they have especially gambling-related or any nonsense.

But in your case yes it's just unfortunate that your friend had to borrow $10 from you only not to keep his promise about paying you back. It's gonna be a lesson learned for you to be honest. Once you have lent money to someone just for them to spend it to gambling or any other reason, they would keep coming back to you as they consider you now as one of their sources.
25  Local / Pamilihan / Re: METAMASK - TUMATANGGAP NA NG GCASH on: December 11, 2023, 08:27:31 PM

Thank you sa info OP

When it comes naman po sa selling, gumamit ako now ng Stables Wallet. Download nyo lang sa Google Play Store.

Bale off-ramp service ito from crypto to fiat. Dito na ako nag transfer a few weeks bago nag announce si SEC PH na i block na si Binance dito sa Pilipinas.

Link here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=money.stables&hl=en&gl=US

So far so good talaga na wala siyang malaking minimum para mag withdraw unlike sa Binance P2P na tig P1k, P5k, P10k, P20k, etc., pati ang fees okay na rin.

Itong app kasi supported nya ang countries like Australia at Philippines para mag off-ramp. Lahat ng stablecoins from supported chains ma auto convert siya to USDC Polygon sa iyong Stables Wallet.

At mag withdraw dami din option like GCash, Maya, GrabPay, PalawanPay, Coins, etc., at even banks mismo. Nag try na ko withdraw a few times na and so far walang mintis talaga.

Sometimes can take 30 minutes to an hour. Pero minsan meron din several hours depende rin kung ano oras ka nag request cashout. Sa akin kasi pag day time mas madali ang waiting time unlike sa gabi matagal at most likely ma credit siya on the next day.
26  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shorter the time you spend the better on: December 11, 2023, 08:18:23 PM
Shorting your play time in gambling is the best strategy in gambling, apart from knowing how to manage your bankroll, don't spend too much time on a casino game, the longer the time you spent the more you lose, this is the truth that many gamblers won't accept at first until they realize it later.

For them it's about your addiction, and that's what brings in more money, and I am here to announce to you that time fixation is also a good way in gambling, spending 20 minutes in casino a day is better than someone who spend 1 hour.

1. Have a amount limit you can risk on gambling every week.

2. Choose your favourite day in a week for gambling.

3. Have a time count down when gambling, to avoid spending too much time.

Go back home or close your laptop once your time is up, and wait for the coming day, go back to your daily life and business, chase your goals using your business and invest more money on assets.

Do you agree or disagree? Drop your reason why.

Yes I highly agree that the time we have spent in gambling is something that we need to control. It's actually what I need until today because the more I have spent my time to doing online gambling, the more that I can potentially lose money.

It reminded me back then when I was really bored due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, I was thinking of gambling in some online crypto casino sites and sports betting out there. Yes I did win some, but for most of the time I lost. So I ended up not getting profits at all due to being greedy of the time I have spent in doing gambling instead of being productive and learning something new while under lockdown.

I do not usually have a specific day to gamble whether in sports betting or so, it's just that when I am already happy with the result and/or profit, I immediately stopped and just simply close my browser, call it a day and just simply do other stuff like playing games, hang out with friends, etc.
27  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The latest binance p2p scam and how to avoid them on: December 11, 2023, 01:44:19 PM
When I do P2P with Binance, I usually double or triple check the credentials of the merchant especially the rating. I would not go below 98% rating to deal when I am converting my USDT to fiat.

Plus I have enabled as much extra security layers like the Google Authenticator, security key, etc., on top of email and mobile number as 2FA.

Never been scammed even once as I’ve only dealt with 2 to 3 P2P merchants that I have trusted. But since Binance will be blocked in the Philippines sometime in February, I’ve already shifted to some alternatives such as off-ramp services like Stables Wallet with low and reasonable fees. I might be looking for other off-ramp options too as I do not want to rely in just one source only.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can loneliness make one addicted to gambling on: December 11, 2023, 01:38:11 PM
Yep this is a great possibility and I have been there a few times when I am alone. Usually we can be tempted to gamble if we are just getting bored and didn’t know what to do.

During those times that I am alone, I usually do online gambling right in front of my computer and mobile phone with some of my extra money like sports betting, crash, roulette, hi-lo, dice, etc., that would lead me to addiction once I have some winning streaks. It lead me to bet some more and getting greedy at times.

But when I lose, sometimes I do revenge betting way beyond my limited budget and it’s also one of my mistakes that I have ever learned.

As of now when I am alone, I have a new habit now which is to simply get out of the house, strolling, sipping my Starbucks and either by myself or with my friends and colleagues and just engaging much lesser into gambling.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The risk and reward of having Bitcoin on: December 11, 2023, 11:53:41 AM
Been there many times in riding the roller coaster wave on Bitcoin. Been holding BTC since last year after doing DCA with my extra “not beer” money.

I am aware of the risk and rewards in holding Bitcoin for long, but I just have a great feeling about it as a long term thinker.

Now currently around $42.3k, I’m actually at a nice profit where I bought BTC somewhere between $19k to $23k range. But I didn’t sell my BTCs as I am in no rush and I just live within my means by strict budgeting even for Holiday season.

Even if there are more sell-offs earlier and even almost touching $40k, I don’t mind as I understand there were many who wanted to TP to spend for the Holidays and we cannot control them.

I really appreciate the potential risks and rewards of holding BTC as it’s dominance is way higher and it may continue until next year.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your favourite Alt-Coin, and why? on: December 09, 2023, 01:56:03 PM
What's your favourite cryptocurrency besides Bitcoin?

Maybe Monero, with its privacy, scalability and fair mining?
Ethereum, with its innovative smart contracts?
Maybe Litecoin, the old and trusted low-fee coin?
Or Bitcoin Cash, which tries to follow Satoshi's vision?
Or, why not, Dogecoin, the funny coin?

Pick your favourite and reply here why you love it!

Hands down to Ethereum as my favorite altcoin of all time. Forget the ridiculous not-so cheap gas fees, but it’s the mostly used chain now for building Dapps up to this day and there were many Layer 2 projects who are under this chain like Linea zkEVM, Scroll zkEVM, Base, zkSync Era, etc.

Even though that it transitioned from Proof-of-Work (PoW) to Proof-of-Stake (PoS), it is still the best ranking altcoin in terms of market capitalization, trading volume and building Dapps.

Aside from Bitcoin alone, this altcoin is the best to do DCA in the long run. If I weren’t hacked last time, I still got a bunch of ETH and made like 12x to 13x from the original price I’ve bought during the early days of 2020.
31  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: December 09, 2023, 01:41:08 PM
Yeah you read the question correctly.

I got this taught while involved in discussion with some of my friend today, it was round of friends and we were practically catching up after some old memories in high school so discussion led to discussion and the issue of regretting to ever knowing how to gamble came up and believe me it was a very serious issue as one of my friend was practically blaming the other for the whole problem is currently going through right now as he constantly gambles his money away and at what avail? was the question being asked to the friend who actually inviting him to a gambling house during highschool. The matter looks childish  at first because the whole table of friends there were all gamblers including myself but we all never reached the height of complaining or blaming someone for our gambling ethics.

So I was wondering if some folks here too feel the same way or it was just a matter of grudge and hatred for the particular fellow to stir up such arguement.

Nah I do not regret it at all. No matter if it’s a good or bad experience for me, I would definitely appreciate it. I had to admit though that due to my addiction years ago I’ve lost a lot. I was not disciplined back then when I played games such as crash, roulette, hi-lo, dice, etc.

Even though it was just my extra money, but I spent way more than my usual limits due to the temptation that I have in both winning and losing streaks. It is something that I really needed to overcome but it’s so hard once I am already on a streak getting tempted to bet some more.

Right now it’s all about discipline, learning how to control ourselves and just bet some extra money within our own means and not beyond the limits, then we will be just fine.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally I did it (I am happy to join). on: December 09, 2023, 01:20:30 PM
Welcome to the club then! Been a BTC holder since 2022 during the time the price was just between $19k to $23k and I am glad to hold it until today and am into profits. It’s probably my best time that I’ve bought Bitcoin after missing a lot years ago due to ignorance and focusing only on short and mid-term alts (and shitcoins too).

As long you are thinking long term, understanding the risks and just fine doing DCA with an amount that you can afford to lose, then you are good to go. We’re in a bull run and the momentum keeps going.

Better late than never. Hopefully the uptrend keeps going for all of us Bitcoiners! LFG!
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can I avoid paying these crazy transaction fees? on: December 08, 2023, 03:29:05 PM
I have btc on Electrum mobile wallet.
I want to buy a hat using crypto from an online vendor.
Vendor accepts several crypto currencies.
It's a one time purchase.
I don't want to spent more than 20 cents in transaction fees.
I want the transaction confirmed within a couple of hours.

What are my options?

I thought of Lightning but that is still going to cost me a lot in transaction fees when opening a channel. And since this is a one time purchase, it defeats its purpose because, well, might as well just directly purchase using btc.

So...what can I do?

Sad to say that these transaction fees are way out of your control depending on the network that you are using. In BTC from segwit to segwit, expect that the fees are not that cheap even if you set it to low but longer waiting times.

However, if you are in a rush, then you have no choice but to pay the higher gas.

Some networks that have lower transaction fees are XRP, TRX, MATIC, etc., which are probably your best bet to save in terms of gas fees. For BTC? No can do especially about expecting the confirmation in a couple of hours.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be enough to buy 100 dollars worth of Bitcoin every month? on: December 08, 2023, 01:58:50 PM
I'm preparing for the college entrance exam to go to college, so I can't make money from working. I get about $100 of allowance from my father every month. I use all of them to buy bitcoin because I can use father's credit card for expenses such as food, clothes. I can buy Bitcoin on a satoshi basis every month, but when I see people buying Bitcoin basis on the internet, I feel like I'm too behind myself. Maybe they have a much higher income than me because they have a job. I think I can only invest $100 a month for the next year or two, would that be enough? I am worried about missing big bull market with halving and etf approval.

As long you can afford to lose that amount and acknowledging the risks, then you are fine.

But correct me if I am wrong though if my calculations are correct. You said that you’re getting $100 every month from your father, right?

But what if later on something happens to your father’s credit card like unexpected unauthorized transactions that would lead the card to be blocked and cannot be spent anymore? How would you be prepared for this kind of situation in the future?

If I were in your shoes though, I ain’t gonna spend my entire $100 cash for it but rather an amount that I am more comfortable of losing every month no matter what.
35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: December 08, 2023, 01:44:33 PM

I have always advised people not to take gambling seriously but I myself became heavily addicted to live blackjack from stake.com and kept winning and losing. In this case I will not blame the gambling site because they give live cards. I started the game with just $20 but gradually I got addicted to it and wanted to gamble and win bigger amounts by depositing bigger amounts. I lost $1700 playing this way then I decided to play with a much bigger amount and recover all the losses then quit gambling for this I borrowed 270000 BDT ($2180) from the bank and deposited there. But unfortunately I lost them. Now I am financially so weak that it has become very difficult to meet my family expenses and I owe the bank $2180 which will take me a long time to pay off. Now it will take about 2 years for my financial situation to be normal again. Gambling addiction set back my normal life by 2 years. I am a victim of real experience and I am sharing my real experience with you.  Don't make the same mistake I did.  And never decide to gamble with a loan. If you do, your situation may be similar to mine. so beware of gambling

I am guilty of this several years ago even if it’s just a small amount of money. Sometime in 2016 while at a computer shop, I’m out of money already so I asked my friend to lend me some.

He did gave me some small amounts only, but spending it in a wrong way by means of gambling. Unfortunately, I have lost almost all of it but good thing I have paid it back a week after. But it was one of those lessons that I have ever learned of not to borrow or loan money just for the purpose of gambling.

Right now I am just gambling with my extra money that I can afford to lose and I do not spend way beyond my limits.
36  Economy / Gambling / Re: How to self exclude from anonymous gambling sites on: December 08, 2023, 01:27:14 PM
Instead of Atomic wallet, Trustwallet can be used. Trustwallet gives decentralized option while Atomic wallet has its own validator. Trustwallet has many validators and atomic wallet is part of them if they support the staked coin.

I prefer to use Keplr wallet which has been the best that I know. If the wallet support a coin that I want to stake, I prefer the wallet even than Trustwallet.

I can understand you, because gamblers would be discouraged to unstake their coins because the unstaking period can take up to a week or more.
Without kyc, deposits from any decentralized wallet to the casino site will remain completely confidential.  In this case, atomic wallet, trust wallet with electrum, Coinomi all these wallets will be effective. But in this case it must be sure that you have not done KYC verification on the casino site or you are using a decentralized casino site. Because if you do KYC at the casino site, no matter where you deposit from, your privacy will never be maintained because your documents will be on that casino site.

I do not think we can be totally anonymous on this but rather “pseudonymous” due to the transparency of the blockchain itself (unless you are using Monero of course as it is more private and anonymous).

I say that the gambling platform would be fully decentralized if the platform itself does not have custody of our coins and tokens such as it only needs you to connect your Web3 wallet like the Trust Wallet.

But there are KYC-less online casino platforms which doesn’t support connecting Web3 wallets but rather using traditional login types like email and has 2FA (Google Authenticator) feature, but I do not define them as fully decentralized as they have control of the minimum deposit and withdrawals of our funds there.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum price before Christmas on: December 08, 2023, 12:40:54 PM
Hello,
If someone has made a loss in buying and selling Ethereum, what is your suggestion? Should he\she hold Ethereum?
Is it possible for the price to reach $2300 before Christmas?

Thanks.

As of this time it already exceeded your expectations. We’re just 17 days before Christmas and Ethereum is already up $2,300+, but I could be wrong if there’s a pullback that would happen anytime.

Before my Metamask ETH wallet got hacked, I bought Ethereum when it was still around $200 that time and it is one of my major altcoins. Could have been 11x for me! It was my mistake of not transferring it to my Ledger due to being very complacent. Thankfully my sister’s ETH is still here untouched, but she bought it at a price of $2,100 during the 2021 bull run.

I would gladly sell my profits and keep the capital if that’s the case when I am already happy with my gains.

If the momentum keeps going further for the bulls, I can see ETH’s price between $2,400 to $2,500 by the end of 2023.

38  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should trading be for the rich? on: December 08, 2023, 12:34:37 PM
I do not think it is meant only for the rich. It is actually meant for those people who are ready to lose their money and are aware of the risks involved in this space.

Most of us here starts from scratch in terms of trading cryptocurrencies before they made their own fortunes. For sure, we have experienced many losses and mistakes in our trading decisions but also an opportunity for us to learn and become better in analyzing the trends, charts, etc.

It reminds me of someone I know who only had small extra money to start off with this crypto trading journey. He took time to self-learn more about familiarizing the chart in Tradingview, patterns, candlesticks, trends, etc.

Took him a while until he finally get used to it and start achieving good results in his own analysis but there are times he lost too as there is no guarantees about being 100% accurate.

He doesn’t have much money back then, but took time to learn TA skills by himself overtime and implemented it right away. So we don’t say that trading is only meant for rich people.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the Choice of Investors on: December 08, 2023, 11:54:59 AM
Most likely as of this time I would say it is a yes. As we are inching closer to the Bitcoin halving and the continued speculations of Blackrock and Grayscale Bitcoin ETF, this is where the investors are likely going to choose this asset than the others.

If you can see the growth of Bitcoin these days, it’s really insane. As of this time, it’s around $43k+ and it briefly touched $44.1k+ yesterday.

I’m just glad that I did not sell my BTCs and store them safely in my cold wallet. I’ve done some DCA with my extra “not beer” money when the price was around $19k to $23kish. Even if I am already at a profit, I am in no rush of selling them as I’m in good hands by having some stable clients and just keep spending within my own means (in terms of monthly expenses).

Hello guys!

Since Binance mangin inaccessible na sa atin within 3 months, nag opt-in na ako for Stables Wallet as off-ramp option from crypto to fiat.

At the same time, isa siyang stables wallet na lahat ng stablecoins (USDC, USDT, etc.) ma transfer dito from any supported chain i-convert agad sa USDC Polygon.

Yung fees dito masyadong mababa so all goods talaga. Na try ko na ito like a few times na and so far walang mintis. Yun nga lang hindi siya instant. Pag day time mo siya i withdraw, it can take at least 30 minutes to a few hours pero pag gabi naman most likely ma credit siya on the next day kahit weekends.

Ito na yung bagong go-to source ko na mag convert crypto to fiat dahil wala siyang minimum amount required unlike sa Binance mga malakihang minimums na from P5k, P10k, etc.
