Certainly an historic day for Bitcoin...
the only question is, "Who are the fools?"
Is it the buyers or the sellers?
Time will tell. Perhaps, it may take 3 to 5 years to know that answer. Any thoughts about when we'll know?

Interesting idea, but what if Bob walks into your bank and does a cash deposit into your account rather than a fund transfer? Wouldn't Bob just notify the scammer and then the scammer notify you with your link in his or her email?

We had another great meetup on March 5th. The attendance continues to grow as the adoption rate of Bitcoin rapidly continues. There were many good questions and comments. If you have any suggestions for topics to cover at our next meeting, please let me know.

March's Meetup is tomorrow. Please RSVP if you intend to come, so we can save you a seat. We are expecting a larger group than even last month's large group. Should be fun

We had a great meeting. Thanks to Matt, Dimitry, and Paul for enlightening the whole group on the details of the different scams, thefts, and losses of bitcoins over the last two years. We all came away a little wiser and more cautious. We also touched on wallet security and cold storage--two topics we should revisit again at a future meetup. Thanks for coming out.

Katherine did such a fantastic job I emailed her personally to compliment her performance.
Stellar work - really raises the bar for communicating the importance of monetary freedom and privacy that bitcoin provides.

...and as we conclude another episode of "The Wild West of Bitcoin"...
(think it's time to head over to Fort Gox to prepare for the impending sell-off)

Meni R.,
I ready your paper and got most of it. I have to admit my knowledge of binomial distributions and such is a little rusty, but I get your points. Of course, rhetorically speaking, what is the optimal balance between the proof of work difficulty and the target time between blocks? Why not reduce the target time to 30 seconds instead of 10 minutes? Great paper, though, and thank you for your contribution, certainly worth a donation.

We had a great meeting last week. I want to thank Patrick, Matt and Dmitry for coming, especially Dmitry (Rassah) who traveled all the way from Baltimore. The discussion on Bitcoin wallets, the different types and their pros and cons, I thought, was very insightful. We also talked much about the business side of mining and gaming.

All are invited to our November 6th users group meeting at the Northside Social in Clarendon (Arlington, VA), off the Orange Line Metro. The meeting starts at 7 PM, and parking is generally not a problem. The theme of this month's meeting is looking "under the hood" of Bitcoin. Is it really just a "decentralized, distributed notary service" as one of the developers puts it? What do miners actually do, and what's the cryptography behind Bitcoin all about? Feel free to join our group, and please RSVP if you intend to come: http://www.meetup.com/BitcoinDC/If you have any other topics of interest you would like to discuss, please PM me or leave me a message on the meetup page. See you Tuesday

One option (works for any google auth site) is to print out the QR code before enrolling your phone. If you lose your phone and have the paper QR code backup you can just enroll another phone. Make sure to keep the paper safe it essentially is the 2nd factor anyone with the paper can generate the correct codes.
Great answer! Thanks D&T

I have a question. I have set up Google Authenticator for my Mt. Gox account on my Droid. What happens if my phone is lost, stolen, breaks, or dies? Am I locked out of my account? If I set G.A. for withdrawls and Security Center only, and my phone is lost, stolen, etc., how can I make withdrawls?
