21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Perfect Money safe to store big money or not ? on: September 19, 2020, 06:32:52 AM
I think it depends on how long you are planning to keep the money in there, If it's for a very long time then i don't think it's a good idea. I am not so familiar with perfect money but in my opinion, I think it would be much better you buy one of those stablecoins like USDT, USDC etc if you are worried about price fluctuations of other cryptos like BTC, and then buy a hardware wallet where you can generate and address to store your coins so that you can have complete control of your funds.

Stable coins are scam do not fall for it. In my opinion the safest option would be to either store that amount of money in a Bank or Invest most of it into Bitcoin and Ethereum and transfer your crypto assets into a hardware wallet.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: USDT wallet on: September 16, 2020, 03:02:57 PM
In my opinion, the best wallet to store any crypto assets will always be a hardware wallet like Ledger. If you do not want to spend money on buying a hardware wallet then you can use a desktop wallet like Electrum. Atomic Wallet or Guarda wallet. Desktop wallets are also considered as a cold wallet if your desktop is not always connected to the internet. Avoid using a mobile wallet or web wallet as they can get hacked.
23  Other / Off-topic / Re: [GUIDE] How to get WHOIS information of a domain on: September 15, 2020, 11:59:49 AM
WHOIS information is only helpful if the owner is okay in displaying the website and personal information in a public domain. In general, this information is always kept hidden by the owners due to the domain service provider promoting privacy. If this information is kept hidden does not mean that the website is promoting scam.

24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start Using the BitCoin Lightning Network! on: September 13, 2020, 06:44:15 AM
In case if someone here is only interested in using a mobile wallet because of the ease to use it in day to day transactions then there are three wallets that I would like to recommend. All three are available for both Android and iOS.

  • Blue Wallet
  • Wallet of Satoshi
  • Breeze Wallet

Remember the above-listed wallets are hot wallets and are not meant to store Bitcoin for the long run. They are better for transaction purpose only. DYOR.

25  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to check whether your email address has been compromised? on: September 09, 2020, 04:35:14 PM
I have used these two websites in the past and they have been providing this service for quite sometimes now. They are not storing your email address when you enter it to check for breach.

The best thing to do incase if your email has been compromised by some platform is to contact the platform directly and question them. I did it in my case and found out that the information they are providing is correct.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Defi Effect - DYOR before Investing on: September 04, 2020, 02:39:31 PM
DeFi was never a safe heaven, some said it is bubble some said it is a scam. That does not matter as it has given a huge push to crypto ROI as many projects have generated ROI on the tune of 400 percent.

n my opinion it is awesome but it is too much hyped, such shit coin will stop this hype. We need to be very cautious and research new projects on DeFi before investing.

It is similar to what we used to do when ICO and IEO's were a hype and happening thing.
27  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to find Fake Giveaways or scam airdrops on Twitter? on: September 03, 2020, 06:38:49 AM
After seeing your reply I felt that you are one smart guy when dealing with airdops and giveaways. I also assume you have not encountered those scams yet. Till then remain smart and if something goes wrong in the future then remember these words

There some people in the world who are more smarter, intelligent and cunning than you.
No. I don't touch them because it is waste of my time. You have to search depend on luck and sometimes you have to promote scam projects when you do not realize they are scam.

I don't say I am smarter than scammers or anyone else.

Not all airdrops are bad you just need to find the right one.

For example BAT airdrop, Atomic Wallet airdrop, BTT airdrop and there are many others. You need to participate in airdrops for projects that are already established or being traded in exchanges.

What @pakhitheboss has suggested is another way to find out fake airdrops and giveaway scams on twitter.
28  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Phishing Emails like this on: August 28, 2020, 01:31:15 PM
In my opinion in the initial stage when you open the email, if you check the senders email address you will get to know whether it is genuine or not. These kind of airdrops falls under Giveaway scam and it is always advised to stay away from any kind of giveaways related to cryptocurrency as most turn out to be scams.

Another way to verify whether the airdrop is genuine or not is to send a DM either to the sender on Twitter in this case Latoken exchange or to Stellar. They would generally reply to your query in couple of hours.
29  Economy / Services / Re: Roobet.com | YouTube Review Video | Earn up to $50! - Ends August 31st on: August 19, 2020, 03:18:33 PM
Hi! @Hhampuz

I really do not understand why the team is paying $50 for random videos on Youtube channels that do not have good followers? Why?

Neither will they get a backlink nor will they get a buzz from the YouTube gambling community. So, are they only creating a buzz to prove here in this forum that they can pay?

It is amazingly weird!

Please update.
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clicking Google Ads can lead you to huge looses - Uniswap customers on: August 16, 2020, 02:25:23 PM
As I come from IM (Internet Marketing) field I’m not surprised to see google failing to stop such a scam right under it’s nose, but then again it’s not the first scam and it won’t be last one either which was executed on a google platform.

I’m currently referring to the scam which was targeted towards Uniswap customers, where an ad was created on google, and that ad was leading Uniswap customers to a clone Uniswap site.

Further that clone site asked users to input their seed, and I don’t need to tell you’ll what happens next when those users entered their seed details.

Lastly I hope that beginners and pros will learn from this and they’ll not let their guard down just because it’s a google ad, and hopefully they’ll always remember that google doesn’t verify these ads (for potential scams), as they’re paid to display them and revenue from ads is all that matters to them.

Okay! since, you mentioned that you come from IM, you will know anyone can create an advertisement using the Google platform. There is nothing like a filter to distinguish that this advert can result in a scam.

Google depends on its community to report those adv that are leading to a scam website. Unless it is reported Google will continue running the advert.

Rather than asking others not to click adverts, you should have informed every one here how to report such scam adverts.  Incomplete information will niether help the community not those who run genuine business like me and are depend on Google ads clicks for revenue.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you can earn money from bitcointalk.org? on: August 13, 2020, 01:33:36 PM
The headline is How you can earn money from bitcointalk.org?

The answer -

1. To participate in a signature campaign.
2. To participate in a bounty campaign.
3. Win a contest.
4. By selling your service.

After reading the headline I thought you would be discussing something different but the same thing again and again.

Signature Campaign:

It is not meant for Newbies, Good campaigns are now asking for Full Member and above

Bounty Campaign:

Not much left here you would be lucky to find a good campaign as ICO and IEO are not able to attract investors.

Win Contest:

Either you need to be the best or you need to be lucky to win.

Selling Service:

You cannot sell everything here there is demand for few specific niche.

P.S - Newbies, Earning Money should be optional in this forum and learning should be your primary motive.

I have seen a lot of people getting misguided in this forum in regards to earning money here. This forum was never meant to make money but to learn, understand and embedded the concept of decentralization using Bitcoin.

I have seen many newbies coming into this forum thinking of making a livelihood through the listed method. Obviously earning money cannot be so easy,  without the proper knowledge and understand money will never come.

I am here to learn and cryptocurrency is a never ending learning program.
32  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why there are too many topics related to Crypto Scams here? on: August 04, 2020, 03:45:05 PM
Are Newbies a bunch of retards that do not understand Scams?

OR

We do not have any other topic to share or talk about in this thread.

Scammers are everywhere, infact Fiat related Scams are more prominent than Crypto Scams. Why are we intentionally talking about Crypto Scam always in this thread, when we know it just a small fish in a big pond of Scams.

Those who regularly create topics in this thread, try to create topics which are Guides or tutorial related to cryptocurrencies or about this platform.

There are other threads that are regularly updating about scams and how to avoid them. I am not against scam related topics I am against portraying the newbies that cryptocurrency is all about scams.

The same topic written differently won't make any difference.

EDIT

My question to all of you after reading your replies:
  • Why will a begginer always want to read about a scam and not the benefits he can achieve being here?
  • Did anyone here create a topic about benefits of cryptocurrency? or we assumed they know about it?
  • We assumed they do not know about Scams or we are creating topics for Merits?

I think members here are more concerned about scams than the benefits. I also believe this place forum needs to understand that we are the face of a community that promotes benefits an not scams.

We need to have seperate board only to discuss about scams in crypto space. I also believe that merits are the main reason why members are creating more topics which are almost same on scams.

35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why newbies involves in copying already treated topic on: July 15, 2020, 02:53:17 PM
Why? is a big question.

I was recommended this forum from a friend of mine when I wanted to gain knowledge about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Till date this forum and its members have always helped me with all my queries.

I have been here for more than a year now but I still cannot say I have complete knowledge about this technology. It is so vast yet unique. If you are here for learning purpose then my recommendation to every newbie is that it is the best forum in crypto universe.

If you want to earn cryptocurrencies here, you certainly can but first understand the concept and grow within the forum by obtaining Merits. Without the proper understanding no one will hire you or give you the amount that you deserve. Learn first and then earn.

PS - I have a stable earning from other sources. I am here only to learn.
36  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which wallet as per you is Privacy centric? on: July 10, 2020, 01:53:57 PM
As per my understanding and knowledge that I have acquired from Google there are two wallets that are Privacy centric  and they are:

  • Wasabi Wallet
  • Mycelium Wallet

At the moment these two wallets are known to store Bitcoin. Wasabi is only available for desktop devices and Mycelium is only available for mobile devices.
As Mycelium allows you to use TOR network for transactions I am considering it to be Privacy centric.

Now, the question to all my fellow members is, do you know any other cryptocurrency wallet that provide the same kind of feature or as per is Privacy centric. I am looking for wallets that support not only Bitcoin but other cryptocurrency too.

Thanks.

If the ability to connect using tor classifies a wallet as privacy-centric according to your defenition, you should add electrum to your list since it supports connections over the tor router out of the box (click on the green button in the bottom right corner, go to the proxy tab). A lot of other wallets (like core) can also connect trough other nodes over the tor router.

Hey! Thanks.
What do you think @mocacinno qualifies to be a perfect privacy centric wallet as per my understanding only Bitcoin's transaction can be consider as non private as you can find out from which wallet it originated and which wallet it got credited.

Instead of Mycelium look at Samourai wallet.  It allows both TOR and VPN connectivity but unlike Mycelium  can "rotate" your coins inside whirpool  making them indistinguishable  from others ( like a giant hotel washing machine makes all bed linens undistinguished  from each other).  Mycelium  can’t even hold its own.

Hey! Thanks a lot for suggesting Samurai Wallet. Is this wallet available for all kinds of devices or is it only meant for a particular device. I have read few information about Samurai wallet but never ever thought of trying it. I will certainly look into it.
38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is possible! 2600 Merits earned in less than 12 months! My 11 Hints! on: July 10, 2020, 01:18:22 PM
I was also a newbie once and I joined this forum only to get knowledge and information related to cryptocurrency. As I started asking question and helping other related to their queries on this forum I one day realized that I was also getting Merits.

I did some checks and found out the importance of Merits for my fellow members. I am happy and thankful to those members who have awarded me Merits. I do not intent to use this forum to earn money but only to gain knowledge.

40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake MEW on Google Play on: July 07, 2020, 03:15:28 PM
This is a warning, there seems to be a fake MEW apps again on Google Play.

Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mew.manager.app&hl=en

Been downloaded 160++ times already (including myself, but just to test it). And by looking closely at the code:

Edit:

Archive: http://archive.is/aTRca

So it will ask for your private keys and other secret keys,

Code:
mewapp.ltd/login/

Then it will be over, cyber criminals have the info to steal your coins.

Hey OP,

Thanks for the information. I did check the link but it seems that Google has removed this fake app from its store. Great job by all the members in this forum for reporting this app so fast.

Quote
There is no doubt that the iPhone is far better security-wise than an android phone and the same is applicable to the store. I have been using both and found the iPhone far better in security. Almost all apps are payable and that is one of the reasons why people do not fiddle with apps store. Whereas on Google store every app is free and people would download anything just to check how it works.

It is true considering the global mobile market there are only two operating system Android and iOS. If you do a small search using the keyword "ios vs android" most of them come under the conclusion that iOS is far better when you talk about security. Google need to work on it.
