21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Having a Ramen week! on: March 10, 2018, 04:29:57 PM

How did you decide what altcoins to buy? I assume you bought more volatile ones?

I'm considering doing this, as a college student I don't even eat a lot anyway so. Grin

I do a ton of research and pick projects I think will grow.
A couple of key points that help when evaluating new coins is to look at similar projects and check out their value, circulating supply, and dev activity.
It doesn't hurt if you can read, understand, and compile the source code.

I like to get in alts when they are just released.
If I can get them for 1 satoshi then the value can either go to zero or up.

I already save on gas when I have to time to walk/jog.  With the weather, It's just not a predictable or reliable as adjusting my diet.
I really like the idea of putting those savings into crypto too.

Sticking with the ramen idea for now as I have a case to get through.
I hope next month is as good as this one was!
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Having a Ramen week! on: March 10, 2018, 04:43:16 AM
You may be saving money by eating Ramen noodles everyday but when you end up with health problems, your medical bills will be much higher than what you saved on eating real meals.  Money can't buy health, if it did, rich people would live forever.

Medical bills are only a problem if you go to doctors. Tongue
I don't want to live forever and having someone wiping my ass when I'm 90.

I'm not advocating eating off the Mcdonalds dollar menu.
What I'm doing is just running my engine off of low octane fuel for a bit every so often.
Substitute Ramen with a cup or rice, a salad, or wild caught fish...as long as it saves money for that 1 week a month.

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Having a Ramen week! on: March 10, 2018, 04:10:42 AM
I think you should value your health above your coins.

A ramen week isn't healthy.

I would suggest simply cutting out junk foods, rather than healthy foods. Like cutting out soda, desserts, Gummy bears and other snacks, smokes, or just any kind of pleasure food for 1 week, then at the end of that week, using that money for crypto.

That said, it's also a good idea to fast once a week. So if you'd rather do this, because it's healthier -- just eat only veggies for a whole day, once a week. Use the money you don't spend for crypto.

These two options are far healthier than a ramen week. Try them =)

LOL, Ramen is very unhealthy.  It's very high in sodium.
It's important that anyone trying a ramen week, consider using half the seasoning packet.
Ramen is also boring.  Steaming some veggies and adding them can change it up quite nicely.

I only cut out dinner, which for me is usually the most expensive and unhealthy meal I eat.
This included cutting out soda and desserts.

For me, and I suspect, many others on this board a ramen week may actually be a healthy upgrade.

So I've decided that once a month I'll be using my own method for generating funds to invest in altcoins.

I call it having a "Ramen Week".

For the last week instead of cooking or eating out, I've made Ramen for dinner.
I saved $97!
With the "savings", I bought altcoins.
Altcoins that now total up to $873 in value. Grin

I could lose it all and it would bother me one bit, because that initial investment of $97 would of just ended up toilet.

Anyone else wanna try having a Ramen Week?

I'm a big fan of this coin already.  It's got some potential to grow.
Today there was a brief time where the price went up to 8 satoshi!
It's back down to 6 sats, and I'm feeling bad for all those that missed out at 1 or even 2.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top 5 coins that will moon until summer on: March 10, 2018, 03:13:13 AM
I'm taking the stance of investing in coins that are very new. A lot of risk, but there could also be a lot of reward.

My two main risky investments are:

1)CREP
--crepcoin is another cryptonight coin that can be mined with a low network hashrate.
It's got active devs, it's own exchange in beta, webwallets, and a gui wallet.

2)DEAL
--idealcash is a proof of stake coin with 30% annual returns and low circulating #'s(~1 billion so far).
Its speed and low cost are what interest me most.  I expect this one to grow quite a bit as it hits exchanges.
I just sold off my last 2 weeks of stake rewards and recouped my initial investment.

I'm also hodling LTC, XRP, and of course BTC.

28  Other / Off-topic / Re: will bitcoin give surprise, ?? on: February 27, 2018, 07:31:19 AM
I expect to see bitcoin rise decently in value over the next month as people start to get their tax returns in.
Too many Americans see tax returns as free money to burn through.
Bitcoin is in the news daily.  It's gone mainstream.  It's going to eat up those tax returns.

We have changed the daily limits for DEAL, now you can buy daily 100 million, without split your order.

That's awesome!  It should make the buying experience a bit smoother.
I'll try it again soon!
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🚀🚀[ANN]( IdealCash ) AIRDROP🚀 / PURE POS %30 / DECENTRALIZED EXCHANGE 🚀🚀 on: February 24, 2018, 09:56:40 AM
I saw that icqbase.com still has some DEAL at 1 satoshi, and couldn't resist picking up more at such a low price!

I decided to buy BTC through coinbase, transferred that GDAX(free to transfer between the two), then I transferred to icqbase.
I waited almost 10 hours for my transaction to get confirmed by the BTC blockchain!
Not the fault of icqbase, thats just how it goes with bitcoin's long block times.

Finally I was able to buy from icqbase.
It is a little difficult though,  you can't buy more than 1,000,000 at a time.  It errors out.
Icqbase also wouldn't let me spend my entire BTC deposit.  I had to leave 1 sat in my balance.
So just a heads up anyone buying large quantities at icqbase to keep each order to 1 million DEAL or less.

After my purchase I made my withdraw to my wallet, and again I received a popup notice super fast.
5 SECONDS!  Fully confirmed in 3 minutes!

This coin is a speed demon!

As of right now both icqbase.com and coinhouse.eu have some DEAL at 1 sat, but when I started my BTC transfer coinhouse was at 2 sats.
After using both exchanges, I prefer coinhouse simply because I was able to place a single order rather than split them up.
By splitting up the order on icqbase I ended up paying about 2000 satoshi in extra fees.

Both exchanges are pretty easy to use.

Now I just need to work on getting a rasp pi zero w up and running for 24/7 staking!
I'll probably post that up on reddit as a quick guide.

EDIT: icqbase increased the withdraw limit for DEAL to 100 million.  I'll be using them again for sure.  I wanted to make sure that was noted in my little mini review.

Since the difficulty algo has changed I've returned to mining crep.  Getting about 70-100 crep a day on my ryzen 7 1700 cpu only.
Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

I have to share my experience with this coin.

I got in on the airdrop early on, and when it was sent I noticed it came very fast.  I had no idea how fast it was till last night.
Last night I decided to liquidate some XRP on Binance for some BTC so I could send that over to coinhouse.eu and purchase DEAL while it's still at 1 satoshi.
I spent nearly an hour waiting for my BTC to be confirmed!
After it was confirmed I ordered my DEAL and withdrew it into my wallet.
3 SECONDS later I received a popup notification from the ideal wallet for the amount.  Within 2 minutes it had 6 confirmations.
That's fast.  Nearly Instant!

In the short term I'm thinking it will go to about 20-30 satoshi's right after listing on the other exchanges.
Looking at other coins on Coinmarketcap with similar total supplies I'm expecting the value to eventually be between $0.09 and $0.44.

Buy it while it's cheap and hodl!  It'll never be at this price again!

Congrats on winning the bounty lol!

I'm looking forward towards checking out your new coin.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW BOUNTY .1 BTC: Modify Genesis Block Creator to include Yescrypt algorithm on: February 12, 2018, 07:41:36 AM
Looking at the yenten source,  the genesis block portion isn't really setup all that different from the bitcoin source.
You should be able to follow some of the altcoin forking/bitcoin cloning guides to get an idea of what you'll need to change to create a new genesis block.
Hint:You'll be wanting to look at chainparams.cpp and checkpoints.cpp.
If you run into issues, hit me up.

I've been doing some similar work.  If I get some free time I'll add hack together a genesis block creator.

It's a sad, yet glorious day.
Cpu mining on phones is basically done now for this coin.
I'm going to keep mining with my phones until I reach 1 crep today for a final payout.

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Japanese Anonymous CryptoCurrency KOTO [Yescrypt][CPU mining][Zcash clone] on: January 18, 2018, 01:43:36 PM
Finally switched over some old android phones to mining koto,  I really like coins that old phones can mine.  Super fun!
Can you mining with the phone? Let me know how?

NoeNeonMiner (android)

Yep using NeoNeonMiner. Don't set your cores for maximum,  for 4 core soc use 2, for 8 core use 4-5.  Otherwise if the screen sleeps you may not be able to wake it easily as the system will be busy.
Another tip is to enable developer options and in there "keep awake while charging".

You won't earn a lot, but it's better than the phones sitting in a drawer.
I've got 8 phones setup and I'm getting around 900 H/s to 1.2 KH/s depending on which phones I'm running.

I'd put more phones onto koto, but I'm also mining some other alts with my other old phones.

I just checked one of my phones that's been running the webminer for a week or so and it's mined almost 30 crep on it's own.
I really enjoying using old hardware that was just sitting in a drawer!
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CREPCOIN: Start mining now with low H/S devices! on: January 07, 2018, 02:54:38 AM
Is it possible to still mine using the webminer after the pool miner has been launched? When trying to start the pool miner I am getting an error that this version of the file is not compatible with the windows version I am using.

Me too ...

I'm still mining using the webminer on devices that don't support windows miner. (android phones, old intel atom tablets)

I know on some of my older atom devices(z37xx based) the windows miner pops out that message because those series atoms have a 32 bit bootloader, but the chips are actually 64 bit. Since the bootloader is 32 bit only 32 bit windows was available to install.
Looks like the windows miner is 64 bit only.

Fun fact though, if you do have one of those chip it is possible to install 64 bit linux using a 32 bit bootloader.

Well my mobile phone farm is no longer profitable mining crepcoin, earned 3.59 crep in the last 24 hours lol.

Anyone want to sell me some crepcoin? I can do paypal(gift) $1 for 500 crep.  PM me!
I'll be buying on the exchanges when they get setup, but this saves me a step of record keeping for the tax man.
