I'm gonna guess that chain 1 is the board closest to the PSU? Its always 7C+ higher.

I'm looking to load balance my S2. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=395721.msg5452008#msg5452008 has basically what I want so I can do it through the GUI, but i don't see the first set of if statements about the pools that I'm supposed to modify in /etc/init.d/cgminer. I can set load-balance in params, and then go to config and manual enter them but I'd rather be able to do it through the GUI for more ease of access.

Damn slush for two blocks in last 24 hours. Sad

Before I head to the gym, here's the quick video of the initial boot with sound so you can hear the fans. http://youtu.be/sQYtbtsyKdU

I hope you dont sleep with that thing on Cheesy

well...I'll give it a night and see how it goes...

My discards are also crazy high, haven't updated yet though. Slush hashrate is showing about 700GH/s

My S2 is working now!!

I noticed a chunk of glue(?) in the slot with the main card.  I removed it and reseated the card and now everything works!

http://imgur.com/a/D4xcV#1

I have some glue on mine too, but it didn't interfere, and there appears to be something under the glue as well. By the edge of the tab, it looks like its been partially cracked or added after the fact or something. The pictures didn't turn out great but you can at least see the glue on both sides. I'll take it out and snap another later tonight, but it works solidly so I'm going to ignore it for now.

---------

As for the fragile sticker, the only thing on the box besides the tracking/shipping label is a big blue sticker with a black D on it. Which I'm guessing is for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORM-D that? but it just a D and nothing else.

It's just a rework of the board.  If you look closely, a trace has been cut and a jumper installed.  The hot glue is there to help keep the wire down and try to keep other stuff from snagging on the jumper wire.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification.

Totally meant now not no. Sorry

Also. I'm not sure which board location coresponds to Chain 1, but its clearly running 7-9C hotter than the rest on my unit.
28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 07:02:57 PM
I think set it to shut-down when it reaches 80C... Guessing it can run up to 79C without any issues

Yeah, seeing how there's now an auto-shutdown at 80C option...but we've all been babying the S1s at 50C and under so *shrug* Its hodling at 60C for now. I'm sure my room will be a sauna later.

EDIT- type no>now
29  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 06:51:55 PM
Finally up and running. Totally forgot about fish-eye on my GoPro so my pictures aren't great. Do have video of the full fan on first boot if I can slim the size down for upload.

The last thing keeping me from hashing was changing the DNS server from 192.168.1.1 to 8.8.8.8. The router here blows some PoS TimeWarner All in one rental, but its also set to the same Google Public DNS so I don't know why that was preventing me from hashing.

Other than that and reseating the whole thing to double check, I didn't have much problems. Though on reboot you have to wait for over a minute, due to protection in the PSU I'm pretty sure. Because I turned it off and 10s later it wouldn't turn back on till i unplugged and let it sit for a couple minutes.

My only question is what's the safe temperature of these things. Mine has settled at 60C over the last 15 minutes and appears to be holding steady.

The S2 is LOUD though...I don't recommend sleeping or generally being in the same room unless you like fan noise for ambiance.
30  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 05:56:27 PM
Reseated all the boards, and rerouted some of the wires and taped down the fan wires (they are a bit close to the boards for my taste). Booted up. First boot with full fans is LOUD. Just plugged in my settings and is rebooting now. I have some pictures and a video of the first Boot with full fans I can upload in a bit. I lack Kill-a-watt or a sound leveler so I can't help out with those.

The main fans are 4X 120x38mm though. They are Jiang Shan Lai (JSL) DC Brushless Model JDH1238B. 12V - 1A.

Just received my lone S2. I can confirm that the straps on the box do nothing but entice the driver to sling it around 1-handedly as I watched the man grab it and bounce it off the 2-steps of his truck. The package is well worn around the edges for just 3-day trip and has nice rip into the side. Unboxing now. Bad note, I can hear things rolling around inside the box already. Sad
32  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 03:29:44 PM
I just need a good image and instructions on how to get it on the micro SD correctly

http://elinux.org/RPi_Easy_SD_Card_Setup

The Instructions should be the same for pushing the boot image.
33  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 03:21:27 PM

Either the Sony or the Kingston I guess. IMO I would get one with the extra full SD card expansion for the microSD, so you can double use it later and not have to have a micro slot to read and image it on something else.
34  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 03:17:19 PM
-snip-

Power cycle was performed about 100 times until 5:30 am EST and slept for 1 hour before coming in to work now.

will purchase the SD card, just need someone to upload a good solid tested Firmware.

Are thee any size limitations on the Micro SD card i can use? or just try and find an 2GB one?

thanks!

Quick Google says up to 32gb no problem. 64gb maybe? The size really only limits your image+storage space. If the BBB is like a Pi, just pick up a class 10, write a boot image to the SD and then plug it in. I always pick up the class 10s, after when GoPros had the issues with any non-class 10s as well and then people instructed the same for when I got a RPi.

Waiting for delivery of my S2 now. Says should be here in the next 4 hours. Sigh the waiting game.
35  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 04, 2014, 01:59:00 AM
Had the wrong tracking number at first, but now have the correct one and my 1 S2 will be here tomorrow (likely late afternoon) due to a UPS error that got it rescheduled for the next day.

Guess the first thing I do will be opening and checking the insides. Undecided
36  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: March 31, 2014, 03:38:40 PM
As it is still needs one and a half hour to enjoy the April 1st, this message is real:

we are packaging the Batch 1 of S2 and will be shipping them out tomorrow.

Thanks for the update ahead of the first.  Tongue
37  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: March 30, 2014, 03:55:24 PM
I asked Bitmain about hosting service for S2 and received the message: "we have a trusted partner who provides the hosting service for our customers, pls contact jiahai.su@umisoo.com."
Did anyone try this service?

When did he provide you with this reply ? And after how long from your initial inquiry ?  My order is still not updated after sending full payment. I am sure he has provided good service to a lot of you folks  before but  it has been about 1 week now and no response. I am starting to feel I was scammed.

All i am looking for is a single response via PM or email. Is that too much to ask ?

Its midnight in China. So let's hope in about 7 hours he pops on and says he just shipped batch 1 out or is about to ship batch 1 out. If not...well we'll have to deal with that later. But dead silence for two weeks except on payment issues certainly doesn't scream good news. Each day it doesn't ship, S2 customers are just bleeding money. And the current price tank doesn't help either...
38  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: March 30, 2014, 02:58:30 AM
we must have some news from bitmain
why no news?
Would you prefer news which might later change because they don't quite know for sure yet, or wait for real news?

Even news that might change later is still news.
39  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: March 28, 2014, 12:40:37 AM
Come on now BITMAIN. Give us something to bide our time with. No spec updates beyond the clarification on the second day and then you only post several days after to address payment issues.

Any pictures of the actual product?
Fan count? Same fan as S1s?
Average load temperatures with local ambient temperature for reference?
Free t-shirts with each S2 purchase?

How about just a quick mention that you are still on target for shipping out after the weekend?

A little bit goes a long way here.

I couldn't give a rats ass about nanometers or "sexy" miners (seriously you guys need to get out more). All I care about is price, delivery, reliability, hash rate, and power usage.

Have to agree.  "Sexy" looking miners that don't ROI aren't going to pay the bills.  And women don't pull their clothes off because your server looks "cool".  They pull their clothes off because your miner is filling your wallet with BTC.

Exactly. This guy is doing it right:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=443718.msg5769874#msg5769874

1. Exposed circuit boards and fans? Check.
2. Repurposed ATX power supplies? Check.
3. Miners that ship when ordered and ROI? Check.
4. Rat's nest of power and ethernet cables? Check
5. Girl taking off her clothes? Check.

All she needs now is an Antminer t-shirt.

How are the S2s coming BITMAIN? Any updated pictures for us? Some information on the number and fan types would be useful as well.
