21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I sent usdt to btc address. Can anyone help? on: July 04, 2020, 12:32:28 PM
I sent the usdt from binance to cash app btc address

If I remember correctly, Binance switched from Omni-based addresses to ERC-20-based addresses for USDT last year and no longer support withdrawal of  OMNI-based USDT. So you should have entered an Ethereum Address. Did you contact Binance support? Maybe they can help. If not, there is no way to recover it.

You can actually still select whichever network to deposit and withdraw USDT from when it comes to binance. Omni, ERC20 and Tron are all available.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Bitcoin Address Clipboard Malware on: July 02, 2020, 09:09:28 PM

The rule of thumb when you're a bitcoin or crypto user is to NOT download any sort of files that came from any untrusted source.
Pretty much. I've personally found a way to convert an old phone (that I formatted and turned offline) into a hardware wallet to sign my transactions, basically a makeshift Trezor. It does the trick, especially if your activity involves downloading questionable files and programs online.

I wasn't aware it was that common, to be honest. But better help someone become aware than be sorry when they lose coins to that scam.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Bitcoin Address Clipboard Malware on: July 02, 2020, 07:36:53 PM
Yeah, this is a very common malware.

It's not entirely safe to check the first few and last few letters either. There also exists malware which has a database of addresses it can choose to replace yours with, and will pick an address which is similar to your address. The only way to be completely safe is to check the entire address. The easiest way to do this is to put the window or device with your wallet on it physically right next to the window or device with the address you want to send to. Once the two addresses are physically right next to each, it takes <10 seconds to check the entire address matches up.

I'd also suggest having a read of this thread from LoyceV which discusses all this in more detail: How to lose your Bitcoins with CTRL-C CTRL-V

Yikes, I didn't even consider that. Thanks for the heads up. Yes, I would assume your method would be the safest option, can't really sacrifice precision when the Tx is significant.

I believe specifying the country would help, and whether you'd accept escrow, maybe a few pics, etc...
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PSA: Bitcoin Address Clipboard Malware on: July 02, 2020, 04:43:31 PM
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this (and apologies if this is old news), but I thought I'd share this so as to encourage anyone reading this to take the necessary safety measures when sending bitcoin.

A friend of mine recently encountered a malware, which, upon copying a bitcoin address to your clipboard (with the purpose of pasting it in a wallet to issue a transaction) overrides that address and replaces it with the attacker's own bitcoin address. This is all done quietly, and the malware was not detected by the common antivirus software.

Not to mention, if you are a person who uses VPS servers or connects to servers using Remote Desktop Connection or some other remote control software, this malware seems to be able to "go through" that software.
Ex: If the VPS is infected and you have it opened using your RDC client, copying an address on your main machine will still allow the malware to change your clipboard (because of how RDC/RDP work).

Always double check the first and last few letters of the bitcoin address you are sending money to, even if you just copy pasted it.
26  Economy / Services / Re: Complete blockchain for 1 BTC on: July 02, 2020, 04:33:00 PM
Inventors of the 1930742th blockchain will see no users and no benefit to using your service (which is probably not a scam but you are asking for an outrageous amount of money).

This. I wish more people understood this.

Also @OP, you can always figure out the entire payment plan with escrow, instead of a 0.5 down payment.

29  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining profitability on: July 01, 2020, 10:30:55 PM

i found something like this:

Quote
It may seem that the group of individuals most directly affected by the limit of the bitcoin supply will be the bitcoin miners themselves. On one hand, there are detractors of the protocol who say that miners will be forced away from the block rewards they receive for their work once the bitcoin supply has reached 21 million in circulation.

Without the incentive provided by a prize of bitcoin at the end of a rigorous and costly mining process, miners may not be driven to continue to support the network. This would have disastrous effects for bitcoin. Because mining is not just a process by which new tokens are introduced into the ecosystem, but it is first and foremost the way in which the decentralized blockchain is supported and maintained absent a central bank or other single authority, if miners abandon their work the network will likely move toward centralization or collapse entirely.
That's true, but won't happen. Tx fees will adjust for that lack of mining reward, and miners will net a good profit eventually. If not many are interested, profits will increase which will attract more miners. It's sort of an homeostasis system.

== Review to exchange Merit will be appreciated ==

Pretty sure that would be the same thing as selling merit, which is not allowed.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining profitability on: July 01, 2020, 09:41:17 PM
Give Network Difficulty a look.
https://www.blockchain.com/charts/difficulty

As someone has said before, the more miners, the more difficult it is to mine a coin, the less the reward for each individual miner.
When miners disappear, the difficulty decreases (adjustment is every 2 weeks). In turn, it becomes easier to make money, which in an optimal market, will drive more people to mining.

If all bitcoins are mined and block mining rewards are at zero, miners' profits will come exclusively from transaction fees which will adjust according to the bitcoin value at the time of whenever that happens.

34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you lend your cryptocurrencies? on: June 29, 2020, 08:17:08 PM
I thought about lending my BTC here on Bitcointalk. But I'm afraid to be scammed and forgot about such idea.

I mean with proper collateral deals it seems rather safe, no?

38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's Next Major Move - Crypto Market Analysis on: June 29, 2020, 12:07:23 AM
I don’t know on any basis I assume we can get 12000 dollars, but reaching that level is very unlikely, we have resistance centers at 9700, 10300 and 10700 dollars that make it difficult to rise from 9400 dollars to 12000 dollars.

Even the breach of the 10500 level requires a break of a strong resistance level, which the price proved difficult to break when the price bounced back to 9500 when it reached 10100 dollars during the past days.

The decline is likely, so long as we cannot rise, the decline will inevitably happen.
Sure it's speculation but I echo the sentiment. Stocks have suffered, Covid-19 wave 2 fear is setting in, and bitcoin is being rejected at resistance levels with decreasing volume.
39  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Bitcoin Faucets on: June 28, 2020, 08:46:06 PM
It's extremely difficult to be profitable unless you have a huge member base and that's exactly why most faucets disappear. It's also better to monetize the ads spaces yourself instead to rely on an Ads network.

Since faucets are less profitable, they're less popular, taking a lot of energy to market the website for a little reward. The ratio effort/reward isn't very attractive.

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. Do you think the same applies to altcoin faucets?
40  Economy / Micro Earnings / Bitcoin Faucets on: June 28, 2020, 08:25:07 PM
Does anyone know if bitcoin faucets are still feasible to run?

I was told AdSense stopped accepting ads for faucet sites a long time ago, so I was wondering if, with the current BTC ad networks, is running a faucet still profitable?

Anyone who runs such a service who can offer insight?
