Here is a sample of my work: bigbear.cx
It is a bitcoin escrow service, currently going to integrate Monero and Multi-sig for it.

I have one suggestion for you on how to improve your design. you completely ignored the UX experience. Dark grey text on a gray background is more than hard to read. My eyesight is not in the best shape, but I believe that many people need extra effort to read on your page.
As an experienced designer, you would have to pay attention to such things.

Yes it was just a base template for the website to function on it (more focused on the back-end side), i am working on improving its design actually.

27  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Feedback on escrow i launched on: February 18, 2022, 07:38:33 PM
I like two things about this project :

1. You do not use any "hot" wallets, because all funds are stored on cold storage.
2. The process to use the Escrow is very simply, so even the most clueless person can use it.

You have not explained what the process is, if there is a dispute. How long will the process last until the party that win the dispute... receive their funds? I presume that the 2.5% fee is still charged.. even if there was not a successful transaction between the two parties.  Huh

Hey,
I must correct you on that,
We do store your funds in Cold wallets but it is an optional feature, since we still don't want to 100% control any funds of our users, but sometimes for big escrow transactions, and when trust is built, they can request us to store the funds in Cold wallets for more safety.
Even tho, our systems and servers are hardened well.

For the dispute process, basically it will done through Direct messaging apps, or through our Sub reddit, depends on our users requests of course.
And if there was not a successful transaction, we will refund back the fee if it was over >25$ (Due to bitcoin fees).

We are working out best to create an easier way to create multi-sig escrow transactions, since it is a bit of a hassle for new users.

Much appreciated for the feedback!

Kinda too good to be true post honestly, false advertising?
29  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for a partner in escrow service on: February 15, 2022, 10:10:23 AM
and we would love also to have a partner who already offered escrow as a service in the forum.
Perhaps you should mention the benefits of partnering with your platform [might come in handy].

Well i haven't figured out exactly the benefits except getting 1% of all transactions without any hassle since everything is done through the website, and there will be only some disputes to solve, so it is somehow taking all the hassle out from escrow providers and so they can focus more on the disputes.
The website is stable as well and secure as well.

Much appreciated who used the escrow, and we would love to receive a trust from you.
Some of the users might interpret the latter part in a bad way!

How so?

So how can i earn trust?
Don't overthink it... If you're worthy of it, it'll happen eventually [start by becoming a part of the community].

Yeah, i am just trying to promote the website so far, and i will be improving the website with time.
30  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for a partner in escrow service on: February 13, 2022, 11:20:20 PM
Well, i am a bit confused on the trust part, since basically no one in the forum tried the escrow and tested it to trust it even!
So how can i earn trust? even tho i am more than glad to let on one of the escrow providers in the forum in and he can have control of the wallets as well.

I do not know how you can earn trust, but as far as this forum is concerned, I assume members are more inclined to trust more respected senior members than newcomers. Regarding your service, put yourself in our shoes. Would you be willing to risk your money on some unknown guy just so that he can build his trust score? Where is the incentive for us?

I suggest you look at how some of the most popular mixer services got their start if you want some ideas on how to get your business off the ground.

Hey,

Doing my best for a good reputation, and i am trying to be as transparent as i can in the business.
I will check that out, but there is no public information on how they got started, i will be including a mixer service as a feature in the escrow, and creating one too atm.
31  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for a partner in escrow service on: February 12, 2022, 01:08:34 PM
- Provides the option to use Cold Wallets.
These may not be considered a feature for escrow as the best way to manage escrow is a Multi-signature[1] address (m-of-n backup,) where the user gets one of the keys, the other party the other key, and the escrow who controls the transmission.
The possibility of providing more options for controlling money will be better. ( 4-of-5,  5-of-5 >> Decentralized cold storage vault)

What you are trying to do is to promote a site that claims to be an escrow, just as Binance P2P provides such services, except that you need to trust.

Anyway here is some old discussion about your service --->   Launched a Bitcoin escrow on Tor

[1] https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Multi-signature

I totally agree with the first part, but i just wanted to include Cold storage as a sign that we can handle long term transactions in safety.
I may proceed with multi-sig as you mentioned, sounds like a good one and will find a way to apply it securely for users.
Well, i do find a big difference between Binance P2P and an escrow, since you can only exchange crypto with other payment methods there, while with an escrow you can trade crypto with anything really. i.e Buying a car.

Well, i am a bit confused on the trust part, since basically no one in the forum tried the escrow and tested it to trust it even!
So how can i earn trust? even tho i am more than glad to let on one of the escrow providers in the forum in and he can have control of the wallets as well.
32  Bitcoin / Project Development / Looking for a partner in escrow service on: February 11, 2022, 10:18:53 PM
Hey,

I made an escrow service and i am looking for partners willing to help me advertise it or at least make it to good use.
We honestly have low number of transactions and we would love to deal in a business in full transparency and trust.
Features of the escrow:
- Privacy-focused, with strict NO JS policy.
- No logs are kept, once you complete your transaction it will be removed from the servers.
- Supports bitcoin, and soon XMR and many other privacy coins.
- Supporting multi-sig by email (Working on supporting it in the website directly).
- Onion and clearnet sites.
- Minimum deposit amount is as low as 0.0001 BTC.
- Provides the option to use Cold Wallets.

We would love to be the top escrow providers in the forum, and we would love also to have a partner who already offered escrow as a service in the forum.

Please check our websites:
Clearnet: https://bigbear.cx
Onion service: http://3st4foepy7nlpptnamtz5vcykmfsu4clvrodiqqqmtpp4jdzlgvyo3yd.onion

Also, we are working on rebranding the escrow for a better design as the community previously suggested to us.

Much appreciated who used the escrow, and we would love to receive a trust from you.

Sincerely.
33  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Feedback on escrow i launched on: February 09, 2022, 08:06:17 PM
In the about us section, I find only some short text and contact email (protonmail) addresses. Do you really believe that is enough to earn trust from people and that based on that, someone will entrust you with money for safekeeping?
As a financial service, you have to do a lot more and prove that you are trusted. Also, one person behind this service can be warned of the risk. we have already had similar cases where the death of the only person with access to funds was reported, but later it turned out that this was not the case. I want to say, who will protect your clients in case you are unavailable it doesn't matter for what reason.

I agree with seoincorporation, design is terrible. You need urgently to improve this.
Starting the process with just an email address is enough. the road is the occurrence of hacked email addresses, or falsely reporting hacking to avoid an obligation. What is your mechanism to prevent those cases? How you will be sure that everything went smoothly?

Well i did add XMPP/Jabber at the homepage as well, i just wanted to provide an escrow service with privacy in mind, so i didn't want to violate that.
As i mentioned, i am more than welcoming to bitcointalk escrow providers to partner with me, and i will even give them access to the wallets if they required that.
I want both transparency and privacy for the users, and i believe that could solve the issue, honestly any reputable member is welcomed as long as they do not harass the clients funds.
I am working on integrating multi-sig for easy use, basically multi-sig can be a dead end for new users, so i want to simplify it as much as possible and i am looking for a solution for that.
34  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Feedback on escrow i launched on: February 08, 2022, 10:20:11 PM
Hey!

So i launched a bitcoin escrow that is focused on privacy, strict NO JS policy and it has an onion version too.
Please check it out and would appreciate any feedback on how to improve it.
https://bigbear.cx

The escrow process looks fine, but the page and the user experience are terrible. Looks like you need a designer for the front end.

Honestly, i couldn't make a better design since i focused on privacy by design, basically strict NO JS policy, and i just wanted it to be simpler, i can however make a version for mobile, but is it necessary?

And there is a lack of information:

-We don't know what's the Min. Amount.
-We don't know for how long the scroll can be open.
-In the road map you mention new coins but it only allows bitcoin.

I will definitely include the information, and i am working on adding up Monero, since it should be done by April.

The project looks like it's 60% finished, there is a lot of work to make it look professional, if you need a hand I just let me know Wink

I would definitely love to have a partner, since i am all alone in this, plus i contacted some escrow providers in the forum to be a part of the website, as it takes a lot of hassle from them doing things manually, yet i received no replies.

basically it is an automated escrow service, so the users can just start escrow on their own, without any hassle
Since your site is back online, I could check it out. The fact that your Canary expired a year ago doesn't inspire confidence:
Quote
Published by: xD500
Published on: 12-01-2021
Next Publish: 12-02-2021

But even if I would trust you, both the FAQ and the "Escrow process" descriptions don't inspire much confidence either. This is all it shows about the process:
Quote
5. Buyer releases the escrow transaction when he receives item(s)/service(s) or start a dispute if not received.
How are disputes handled? How do you prevent an experienced scammer from scamming an innocent newbie? How can you ever be sure about a trade if you only see the financial side of it?

Common problems with (new) escrows are the lack of trust and unclear decision making in case of a dispute. I don't think I've ever seen any implementation that completely covers all possible scenarios.
I can think of a few scenarios that can emerge. To start:
This is a common practice. I have both bought and sold physical coins, and bitcoin miners using escrow. In all cases, everyone involved wanted the shipment to be sent directly to the buyer by the seller. As an escrow agent, I had facilitated the sale of physical goods, and all parties had always wanted the goods to be sent directly from the seller to the buyer.
How does that protect the buyer if the seller sends a fake? Or how that it protect the seller if the buyer claims he received a fake?
How can you prevent this? If both parties are honest, they don't need an escrow. The escrow is only needed when one of the parties isn't honest, which should be the assumption in all steps taken by escrow.

Oh my bad in the Canary, i missed typed the year, things like that happen yet i will be updating it right away.
In the disputes part, i will work handle them professional, where there is direct messaging between the seller and the buyer, explaining their issues and will do our best to resolve or to find a suitable solution for both.
Direct communication is the secret on resolving disputes, and there's always a prove on who did wrong, you just have to find it.
For an example, if the seller sends a fake product, you can ask the buyer to show prove of it, and you can investigate it in one way or the other.
There is also tracking numbers if the seller did claim he hasn't received his product, and if he claimed it to be fake, we will ask him for his prove.
I will be creating a list in which sellers and buyers handle responsibility for their products or services, such as if the seller did send a broken item to buyer, he will be taking the responsibility of that, and we will find to whom we refund or release the payment.
Basically, disputes can be resolved with the right communication.
37  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Launched a Bitcoin escrow on Tor on: January 16, 2022, 08:12:23 PM
and i am mainly doing everything myself. I mean just the maintenance took me a whole day (I have a personal life too haha).
So that means the following part, isn't completely true or accurate: 24/7 support

  • While we're at it, I'd like to inform you even though the fee that you're charging [screenshot] is smaller than most of the other escrow providers in "other platforms", you might want to consider lowering it a bit more [most escrow providers on this forum, have a lower fee and there are still certain users out there that refuse to hire escrow providers because of their fees]!

When launching the multi-sig, i may just partner up with escrow providers in the forum and he will be in charge of the multi-sig.
In that case: what value does your website add?
Would you mind answering the above question @pablocokeninja? Why should you and your platform be in the equation, when other escrow providers could achieve a similar result without it?
- It's a sensitive subject, so I hope you understand why most of us would question every single one of your moves!

I am doing my best with the support, yet it just got started so i will dedicated a lot of time to it when a lot of users come in.
Well, basically it is an automated escrow service, so the users can just start escrow on their own, without any hassle and i will be improving it much better with time, i am doing my best to find a suitable solution for multi-sig to ease it up for the users.
I will be lowering the fee in the future, it is just at the start and to make the website better in a short period of time, basically get more funding from the fees.
Would love to join the board if you're a trusted member in the community by the way.

Any hack will cause the site's reputation to be ******.
The server is hardened enough
This is one of those responses that won't age well.

LOL true, i mean i am not that confident in the security of the server, yet i have done all recommended practices, even everything is expected in this space.
39  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Launched a Bitcoin escrow on Tor on: January 12, 2022, 03:00:42 PM
When launching the multi-sig, i may just partner up with escrow providers in the forum and he will be in charge of the multi-sig.
I set the admin interface to not be able to modify bitcoin address, so basically once bitcoin core sets an address to the user, it is impossible to modify it, i will be encrypting the addresses in the next version of it, so it cannot be modified by anyone. Thanks for the idea.

It is good to see someone trying to do something new.
you need to make something better than a site controlled by trusted members of the forum, your audience will be from the forum only, and most of the forum members may not use it because it represents an additional fee instead of contacting escrow members directly.

  • your work as a sole, part-time developer means that many backdoors will be present.
  • Any hack will cause the site's reputation to be ******.
  • Do not forget that you need trust, technical development and presenting something convincing.

I advise you to release a beta version on testnet and when everything is acceptable, you can start thinking about it seriously and looking for a promotional campaign.

Yes, i did release this version as a beta, but i used the mainnet, i may change it to testnet.
The server is hardened enough, and everything is encrypted, except some database fields such as emails and amount, just in case both clients wanted to change that.
I will do my best to make this project better and for the long term, and certainly improving the design.
40  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Launched a Bitcoin escrow on Tor on: January 12, 2022, 12:24:42 AM
Can you explain more, I mean multi-sig is a good idea but you need to trust the third party if it is 1 out of 3 and also it must be ensured that the webmaster does not know or ْgenerate addresses.

why you only have tor version on the Tor network, It is to avoid DDoS attacks and privacy, which are not necessary for a new website trying to gain trust.

Escrow needs to be trusted by a third party who cannot be anonymous.

Honestly,
I decided to launch it on Tor since it is much more safer and more private for users to transact, even tho we all know that bitcoin transactions are traceable.
I will be buying a domain name and launch it on the clearnet if that would be more suitable.

Also, i may need more help with the website, since it takes a lot of work and i am mainly doing everything myself. I mean just the maintenance took me a whole day (I have a personal life too haha).
