As of now, Omicron seems to be about one of the biggest Christmas presents ever...to anyone...collectively.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Su878hS_wg

At 21:45:
"Omicron `deserves FDA approval`. UK has 12 confirmed O deaths out of 45k cases.
Fatality rate of 0.027% would get O FDA approval.

`Standardized Mortality Rates after dose 1 were 0.42 & 0.37 for Pfizer & Moderna, and were 0.35 & 0.34 after dose 2`."

These O numbers were as of 12/20/21.

Latest numbers are from 24th and look even a bit better.
114,625 UK cases
29 deaths
-> case fatality rate of 0.0253%.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Huh?
1. Haven't they seen the latest numbers from London?
Omicron is cutting through the vaccinated like a hot knife through butter.

2. Omicron is not reported to be "milder".
...but it seems to lead to less hospitalization/intensive care rates.

3. Omicron is replicating primarily in different tissues than Delta.
This means the bodies LOCAL immune response (coughing, sneezing) will be more effective in combating of most of the viral load.

4. Boosters work, but not at the early stages of infection.
This means spreading the virus by vaccinated people is still a treat.

5. Boosters work NOW, (EDIT: In the Lab!). But what about 3, 6, 9 or 12 months later?
Decreasing immunity is a known issue.

6. Secondary effects (a.k.a. network effects) are not even looked at.
Imagine millions over millions of symptomatic infections in the population, more or less simultaneously. Regardless of how mild the symptoms are, the effect of too many people getting sick at the same time has the power to bring the system to its knees.

I can't fucking believe that so called EXPERTS are not looking at these aspects, clearly seen in other places of the world, with the UK as a current example.
Seems like the USA will be fucked over again by the incompetence of their leaders.
*Omicron silently chuckling in the background*

Over here in Europe, we are only a few weeks ahead. Watch what happens in January.
Can't stop to SMH, really.

Your 2. is contrary to every piece of info I have gathered so far, both for SA and UK.
Any sources?
Also, isn`t "less hospitalization/intensive care rates" the definition of "milder"?

Regarding 3.
Yes, O is in fact replicating mainly in the bronchi/the lining of the passage as opposed to the lung tissue itself - which is what D did.
University of Hongkong did a study on that (currently under peer review).
This points towards less severity as well (no/not so much filling up of lung tissue with fluid --> you can still breathe).
You exhale loads and loads of virus particles, though.

6. is the big question mark indeed. O is multiplying 70 times faster than D (Hongkong study).

Looks like the "Omicron = natural vaccine" theory...assumption...hope is confirmed by UK data SO FAR.

"Top 5 symptoms:
Runny nose
Headache
Fatigue (mild or severe)
Sneezing
Sore throat".

At around the 13 minute mark in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1nqQOn6Rbc

Furthermore, that Pfizer safety report to the FDA, which was supposed to take a nap for 55 years, was published by ways of FOIA.

Martenson is going through that data here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCbohvmiigY

TL,DR: Data is a complete mess, utterly unfit to make an informed decision upon.

"Omicron variant could act as a natural vaccine in the unvaccinated".

In Germany: Out of 102k Corona deaths and over 6 million infections since the last 2 years, only 1418 of those deaths are from individuals who are 49 years old or younger.

1418 of which the vast majority suffered from medical preconditions or were smokers and/or obese.

Sure, there are more severe cases with Delta, also in younger populations, but there were also key factors identified.
So whats the problem?
Politics don't give a fuck about the reasons behind those numbers. They want simple and fast solutions, being overconfident in medical technology regards.

They should protect the vulnerable, get them to vaccinate, and leave the rest alone, so the virus can spread and mutate to "just a flu" level, which the Omicron variant seems to be. If science proves Omicron to be light enough, everybody should get infected by it, worldwide and case closed - which is what vaccines are claimed to accomplish, though, but look at the numbers... (like you already did).

I won't get vaxxed. I will get infected. As long as i feel endangered enough, i will wear the mask, i will limit my social life, i will distance myself - which is proven to work as well as vaccination, AT LEAST. But i will not play any role in this vaxxing mania the MSM and fuckdumb politics started.
Yes, it's true: If a majority of people in panic mode wants to enforce a minority to go along, you can expect full damage in the end. History is delivering a lot of examples.
And the majority clearly is in panic mode since that Covid19 shit started.

Dr. Chris Martenson has been covering COVID from day one, more or less.
In this interview, he talks to Prof. Mattias Desmet of Gent University about "mass formation", i. e. "mass hypnosis".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRo-ieBEw-8

It`s a one hour + conversation, but worth every minute of ot, imo.

It might be instructive to become familiar with how the Nazis rose to power and how they ran propaganda against the Jews. They didn't just get voted in then the next day invade Poland and throw Jews on the trains.

It might be instructive, indeed. They rose to power on the back of a frustrated population devastated by decades of economic turmoil by promising them to fight against traditional banking elites and an all-powerful Jewish conspiracy threatening to destroy their nation from within through Marxism and decadent gender ideology. While campaigning, they portrayed themselves as the sole defenders of free speech, under attack for speaking truth to power.  Sounds exactly like the people pushing vaccine passports, amirite?

In Nuremberg, Germany, there is a massive building called the "Congress Hall". This intimidating, colosseum-inspired Nazi building stands next to the former Party rally grounds, where the Nazis held their massive 100K+ people gatherings before WWII. It was to be used just once a year, for one speech delivered by Hitler standing in a precise spot where the sunlight would illuminate him in a way that would appear to be divine. Due to the outbreak of WWII it wasn't finished.

Today it houses a museum with a permanent exhibition called "fascination and terror" which documents the Nazis' rise to power from their humble beginnings in the early 20s to the brink of WWII. A visit to this museum is mandatory to all German school children and all German soldiers. Because the Germans understand full well that to fight ideologies such as Nazism, it is vital to combat historical illiteracy which is fucking rampant in this goddamn thread! A vocal minority in this thread would do well to go see the reality of how Nazis rose to power and what they did with that power instead of parroting talking points about how vaccine passports are literally stars of David. You can always change your vaccine status. To the Nazis, you could never stop being a Jew. I can't believe I have to explain this.

Just because you are criticising the government, doesn't mean you are a free thinker or correct. What a colossal waste of intellectual capacity on full display.

Bold
Translation: Discrimination isn`t necessarily bad in itself. In fact, it can be awesome (read: "save millions of lives"). You just have to target the "right group" (subject to change).

Also, in your first paragraph, you have omitted some key facts like the post-WWI trauma (unbeaten on the battle grounds/Im Felde unbesiegt), the Roaring Twenties ("decades of economic turmoil"), the then recently failed experiment with democracy, etc.
You constructed that part custom-tailored in order for you to make your point that "Nazi comparison braindead".
But what if there is no need for a National Socialist party to rise to power, because Global Socialists are already in power?

"Sounds exactly like the people pushing vaccine passports, amirite?".

If you are deemed an extremist, - after careful, responsible and fully transparent non-biased due dilligence - you MIGHT get in trouble with heroes like PayPal, FB, MS, Reddit, Alphabet, AirBNB and Twitter (among others).  With all of them all at once, that is (thanks to a shared database).

I am posting this here because of the "Hate on Display(TM) Hate Symboly Database" that the Anti Defamation League has published on its website.

In there, you will find....drumroll... the WO-handsign, incorrectly referred to as "Okay Hand Gesture". Ah, Bunny.  I’ve been intending to inquire, who is this?

I am asking for a friend.  He is performing academic sociological research on the bodily semiotics employed by whatever porn stars are popular nowadays.  For the sake of science, please sauce this girl.  Thanks.

* nullius trolls WO “for the articles”.

A youngish Ava Addams.

Thanks.  So, does she do Bitcoin?

Forget what I said about “science”.  This is the important question!

Not sexy:

It`s actually Michelle Wild.
She hasn`t been active for years, though.
So no btc-option (or any other) - most likely

How do you say "smoke grenade launcher" in German?
Don't ask.
Nebelwerfer

Good morning.
"Nebelwerfer" is rrrong.  Sad
It's a rocket/grenade launcher named after its inventor's last name (Nebel).

What you are looking for is "Nebelmittelwurfanlage" or "Nebelwurfanlage".

Good morning to you, too.

I stand corrected.

Did she actually ever do something for Amazon or was she indeed just "an investor"?

It reminds me of the Eddie Murphy Raw skit of a wife making a dollar and then wanting half of $50 million in a divorce.

Fuck that shit.
The girlfriend I have now wants a prenup because she knows I will never go along with ridiculous 50% figures if we were to marry and then divorce.

That skit is actually about Johnny Carson`s future ex-wife wanting half of his 300 million.

To me, the best/most entertaining standup show I have ever watched.
Eddie at his peak.

Also, I will buy btc for every....never mind.

It connects to the security narrative.  1 to 2 dimensional thinkers can't see why POW is so damn efficient and such a GOOD use of energy, that will actually transform the entire power industry in 50 years.  But there is ZERO chance for a distributed system, much less a decentralized one without it.
Care to explain your reasoning why a system like POS can't work? (genuinely interested)

FWIW, Shelby has written extensively - as he does - about the flaws/limits of POS. That info should still be up on his steem blogs. If you really want to go there and dig, I suggest you have a big meal first, and also plenty of bevereages within hand`s reach, though.

it scales in layers with the BTC blockchain being the settlement layer, or we up the block size ala BSV.

Such woud seem the fundamental dichotomy, yes.

Quote
What I am saying is when we do it the latter way it is going to be the realm of the super powerful to keep up with it enough to run nodes...

Not today. Certainly, it is well within the purview of insubstantial computers with good internet connections to do so for BSV today. At some time in the future, yes. Hobbyists will end up dropping off.

But that is not A Bad Thing. I mean, it's a tradeoff. Sure, its... nice if everyone is trivially able to validate the chain. But at what price? Demonstrably, so-called second layer solutions were not ready in time to stave off Blockalypse I. Nearly four years later, they still are not ready to stave off a potential Blockalypse II. (Of course, with none of the second layer solutions of which I am aware transacting on chain, they are completely invisible to the so-called 'validators' anyhow, though that's a separate discussion.)

But perhaps more germane... Humanity muddled along for one or two dozen thousand years with no discernible increase in standard of living. It is only in the last few centuries when specialization of labor has allowed us to rise out of the muck of scarcity into a stratified realm of (relative) abundance. Do you insist on developing and building your own automobile?  How about a semiconductor chip? Do you think everyone should design their own computer? Build their own fab to crank out the chips? One only need refer to the seminal essay 'I, Pencil' to see the folly therein. Why would the maintenance of the financial system be the one thing that is the enforced domain of the lowest common denominator?

I say they should not. The system should grow to accommodate demand. Those that are good at validation will remain validators. That are not will fall by the wayside, and find other things to do. Things more matched to their unique set of gifts. There is nothing wrong -- and everything right -- with that.

Quote
and we coalesce into a system worse than the current one.

B does not follow A. At least not without an explanation as to how A necessarily leads to B.

I think, going by that concept as a guideline, there would not be a need for BTC in the first place.

(Central) banks are highly specialized and extremely good at creating money out of thin air. Then why come up with BTC and then also even include this message in the Genesis block? Looks like someone did indeed want to build his own automobile. Which makes me wonder - by following your line of reasoning - why you became involved with BTC anyway, since the specialists had already covered the financial side of things with their expertise...

Maybe the line for specialization of labour will have to be redrawn? How about those 3-D printers? Do you think, global supply chains will remain exactly as they are/used to be?

Just a thought: If crypto is an/the alternative to "the system" - here legacy financial markets, then why is Coinbase doing an IPO in the first place? Isn`t that in contrast to "true crypto spirit"? Why didn`t they come up with Coinbase Coin/Token (as a means of distributing profits to investors) instead? Why give business to your opponent?

Also, at first glance, this does not seem to be particularly supportive of the decoupling narrative.

Coinbase is not bitcoin, and bitcoin is not crypto.... so you do seem to be muddying some of the concepts, Tuco Benedicto Pacifico, which may also thereby lead you into reading too much into one company in the space planning to go public... Bitmain was going to do something similar, and it ended up not going through.. This coinbase situation might have some better chances, who knows..? we will see.

Agreed with bold. It is a rather big player in the space, though. Successful IPO could further tie bonds between crypto and legacy markets, adding to viewing BTC as "just another asset", competing with stocks, commodities...
BTC started this whole thing, right? I admit I have never read the whitepaper, but I have also never heard anyone talking about "this paragraph where it talks about how to convert to fiat"..

Second part of your statement about muddling concepts could also be true, though.

Well, something happened. Some buy orders got filled.

Is living off trading not just another kind of slave wagery, except you have more stress and can never relax ?

I guess pure day traders closing all positions every evening might be able to relax, but still.

To retire and feel free I would need well diversified investments, including real estate, stuff that will always be in demand like health care, probably geographically diversified too.

I know from a bit of experience that only a very, very select few can stay net positive on a consistent basis. Some of them daytrade, some others do swing trading, i. e. longer timeframes and therefore staying in the markets for days or even weeks, up to months really. I know of one guy who got kicked out by his broker because he refused to make them profit from him, even in the long run. Those guys are very rarely stressed, if ever. They know what they are doing, why they are doing it, and specifically when to engage in a trade and when to exit. Plus top-notch Money/Risk Management. Some come up with very creative market models which I have never seen in any of the "How to trade" books.

The guys/gurus who advertise "trading courses" or "seminars/books" most likely live off of those.

So your assumption about being your own wage slave is true for a lot of the losing traders, which means practically everyone who sees that as his line of work and doesn`t have a steady job (and loses money). Some see it coming rather quickly and can pull the plug soon enough, others drown in a downward/losing spiral. Stress levels for those who want to "re-gain the losses quickly" are most likely increasing day by day. They go to bed thinking about this one trade of theirs that is in the market, praying to wake up to a 10X-profit the next morning. The hobby traders throw away some of their money and, as long as they don`t get blinded by early winning trades, eventually end up quitting or just viewing it as a way to kill time.

3rd sentence is the way to go imho.
